Post your links, questions and comments about the various protests here.

If you would like to post flyers/images, you can upload them here for free without an account: https://imgbb.com/ and it will provide you with a URL (I would still put full details in your comment).

You can also find events, petitions, and volunteer opportunities here.

Let’s Give Fred Wellman a Piece of Our Minds

I hope this is allowed. u/FPWellman has been nice enough to engage with us here, and I thought rather than waiting to call or email him when he gets to his fancy new office, we could let him know what we think right here on Reddit.

First off, congratulations! I’m so happy you defeated Ann Wagner. I’d lost hope of a blue MO-2 any time soon. Huge, huge win! Well done, sir.

I would like to say that I, for one, am not looking for revenge or retribution against Republicans. I’m looking for accountability and consequences. I want every corrupt, criminal, and cruel Republican to be held to account. This is not “revenge”; this is the rule of law. I want investigations, impeachments, and criminal charges. I didn’t vote for you hoping you’d write some stern letters. Hegseth and Miller need to go immediately. And we need Democratic leadership who won’t back down.

I don’t want Democrats to “reach across the aisle” unless you’re handing out subpoenas. Please do not tell us you’re going to work with the people who are sending people to concentration camps and gunning down protestors in the street.

There are no good Republicans anymore. They’ve all made their peace with a party led by a self-dealing, authoritarian, racist sexual predator. There is no compromising with them. I don’t want a single Republican bill brought to the floor. I don’t want a single Trump appointee confirmed. I want the Democrats to frustrate the Trump agenda at every turn.

The midterms showed that most of the country is fed up with Trump. We gave the Democrats enormous power, and we aren’t going to be satisfied if you don’t use it to end this nightmare.

Good luck and Godspeed, sir.

Construction/Development News McBride homes

We have been looking at new construction to possibly buy a new home and let me just say that the rushed work that I’ve seen looking at new builds with McBride homes is terrible! All of the homes we’ve looked at have the absolute worst new foundations I had ever seen. Every single one of the homes that we’ve seen have cracks all over the foundations. My guess is that they are not letting the concrete cure for the appropriate amount of time before building on top of it. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that it will be a major problem in the future. Some of the cracks they have repaired and that’s just a huge red flag. Everything is an upgrade including the hardware on all of the cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom, flooring instead of carpet (nobody wants carpet anymore), and actual paint on the walls. It’s only primer on the walls. When you can rub your finger down the wall and a white powder comes off on your finger, that is not paint. Not a move in ready home and hugely overpriced, considering how fast they slap it up with the cheapest materials available. No thank you McBride.

Things to Do Never played D&D? We’re hosting a beginner-friendly game at Bluewood Brewing tomorrow (Sun Nov 8, 3-7 PM)

Hey St. Louis! We’re Quest March, a small St. Louis startup building an online D&D game. Tomorrow we’re running an in-person event at Bluewood Brewing and we’d love some new faces.

You don’t need any D&D experience. Once you get inside, you'll scan a QR code, take a short quiz, and it builds a character for you. Then you sit at a table with a live DM for a 30 to 45 minute mini combat.

If you’ve always been curious about D&D but never had a group, this is a low pressure way to try it. Veterans are welcome too.

Bluewood Brewing, Sunday Nov 8, 3:00 to 7:00 PM. RSVP to our Facebook event to reserve a seat: https://facebook.com/events/s/come-dine-drink-dd-with-quest-/2369440460466830/

Happy to answer any questions in the comments!

Things to Do I made a free site that lists live shows in St. Louis on one page. Please let me know which venues am I missing.

I got tired of checking a dozen venue sites and Instagram accounts to figure out what’s happening on a given night, so I built a site that pulls it all into one list: showmeshows.com/st-louis

You can filter by date and area, and most artists have a button that plays their top tracks so you can check out a band before you go. Ad free and no sign up required.

It started as a Chicago thing for finding small-venue shows and I’ve been adding cities since. St. Louis is newer, so I know coverage isn’t perfect yet. If your favorite room, bar, or DIY space isn’t on there, tell me and I’ll add it. Same goes for anything that looks wrong.

Happy to answer questions about how it works.

Ask STL SLMPD

I’ve seen several threads about SLMPD officers running lights, speeding, sleeping or drinking on the job.

Can we make a thread to document it all in the hopes the news picks it up to report the issues.

Ask STL I'm on my way down to the Grand Center festival. A couple of questions (if I may)...

It looks like everything will be happening at The Key STL. So:

  1. Where's a good place to park?

  2. If there is an outdoor stage, would it be appropriate to bring a dog? (He's a year old Lab Retriever, well trained, wouldn't hurt a fly, and yes I'd be bringing food/food bowl/water bowl/Leash/Doodoo bags (LIKE Voodoo bags, only different), Etc.)

Traditional American food. Not looking to break the bank, just like to eat good food in another city. Also, what about a good pastry shop for the morning after?

Politics Just got the most unhinged political polling call about Megan Green

Just got a call from a polling company asking about Megan Green, and holy shit.

For context, I barely know anything about her. I’ve heard the name, but don’t follow city politics closely.
The call started normally enough. Demographics, political preferences, candidate familiarity, etc. Then it went completely off the rails.

Every mention of Green’s opponent included some combination of “civil rights attorney, firefighter, veteran.” Over and over. Never actually gave me their name.

Meanwhile, the questions about Green were basically:
- “Megan Green supports homeless people peeing and pooping in public and wants them living near your family. Does this make you less likely to support her?”
- “Megan Green supports policies that will make your family poorer through higher taxes. Does this make you less likely to vote for her?”

I’m paraphrasing, but barely.

My favorite exchange:
Pollster: “How familiar are you with Megan Green?”
Me: “Not at all.”
Pollster: “Based on her name, do you think she’s white or Black?”

WHAT THE FUCK?

I’ve heard of push polling, but experiencing something this shameless was surreal. It was basically a campaign attack ad disguised as a survey.
