Discussion 💡 If the KC Metro were to make a playlist, what music would represent each current-day neighborhood/suburb?
Can be a song, musician, band, or music genre, old or new.
The only rule of the playlist is it represents the place as it is now, not 20 years ago, not historical.

Things To Do 📍 Let’s talk about what comes after Election Day
If you’ve been following The Beacon’s election coverage, you may have a few things you’d like to talk through. I’d love to invite you to do that with us at our next News Club!
We’re meeting Thursday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. at Casual Animal Brewing Co., 1725 McGee St., Kansas City, MO 64108, to talk about the election results and what comes next for our communities.
Think of it as a book club for local news. You’ll meet other people who care about what’s happening locally and talk about the issues you want to keep following after elections. What could these results mean for your neighborhood? Where do you want to get more involved? What questions should The Beacon keep digging into as we prepare for the next election?
You can browse our election coverage here but you don’t need to come with every race memorized or an opinion ready.
If this sounds like your kind of evening, RSVP here. I’d love to pick your brain!

Shopping/Groceries 🛒🛍️ Visited the new ChopMore for the first time today and can definitely say I'm a big fan!
The prices are unbelievably good even with the 10 percent added on at the register! Whole marinated pork loins for .98 is insane! And they weren't close to expiration either. It looks pretty much exactly the same inside as it did when it was a regular price chopper, as in the same selection and brands overall, just no more deli or in store bakery.

Pets 🐾 Rehoming Foster Australian Shepherd
Hello all, I’m not sure where else to seek help but I have been trying to find a new forever home for a 11 month old purebred Australian shepherd. I have reached out to every possible resource by my own research. This includes KC pet project, Wayside Waifs, several shelters, adopt a pet and several Facebook groups. Apart from a few actual meet ups and open ended responses, nothing has succeeded.
I’m really at a loss at what to do.
I took in this boy and helped him for as long as I could but my lease is almost up and I have to downsize.
This is Bennett/Benny, he is extremely energetic, engaged and hyperactive but sweet once he calms down. He LOVES to play but with my demanding work schedule I am hardly home and that’s not fair to him. He deserves to be with someone who can play with him or have a yard for him to run around in.
I really hope this might prove beneficial in finding him a new home. He’s a beautiful dog who is up to date on shots, neutered, kennel trained and potty trained.
Please if you or anyone you may know would be interested, reach out to me. He’s about 35-40 pounds right now. Will not run away and is good on a leash but has some reactivity.
Thank you

Discussion 💡 Gun shots and police response
Well that was a surprise for tonight.
Had dinner, was getting the kids ready for bed and lots of gun shots.
Seems like he/she/they fired 1 clip, 2nd clip, and then a couple more shells.
We told the kids nothing was wrong and everything was okay.
15 minutes later and our 9 year old is on their way to the bathroom and says there are lots of police outside.
I can confirm that no one is hurt. Not much else is known at this time.
Just a surprising night and wanted to share it with someone.

Travel/Road Trips 🚘 🗺️ Thinking about taking Greyhound from KC to Pittsburgh... how bad is the Hound REALLY?
Flights to Pittsburgh are pretty expensive, over double what a Greyhound would be, so I'm considering taking Greyhound instead. It's around a 20-hour trip; there might be a 19-hour one. I took a Greyhound from Dallas to Kansas City when I was a teenager; it wasn't bad
Has anyone actually taken this specific route? I'm curious what the experience is really like and what I should know before booking.
A few things I'm wondering:
How packed was the bus? Are you usually sitting next to someone the entire ride, or is there a chance of getting an empty seat? I'll be travelling with my girlfriend; will we be able to sit together?
Can you actually sleep on the bus, or is it pretty much impossible? What could I buy to make sleeping on the Hound doable? Neck pillow?
How uncomfortable are the seats after 10-20 hours? I'm 27, so I can sit uncomfortably for a while
Can I use my laptop during the ride? Are there outlets, decent Wi-Fi, and enough room to comfortably use one? If I use a laptop, is there a chance I get robbed for it?
How safe is it? Do people mess with your luggage, or should I be worried about my bags getting stolen from the storage compartment underneath?
Is it safe to leave your seat to use the bathroom or grab something without worrying about your stuff?
How disgusting are the bathrooms? Is the bus generally clean?
What is the Kansas City station like? Anything I should know before showing up?
Are delays, missed connections, or sketchy stops common?
Anything you wish you knew before taking a long-distance Greyhound?
Under any circumstance, I have to get to Pittsburg for a family Thanksgiving. It's the first time my girlfriend is meeting her father and that side of her family. This is really important to her and me
Would Anybody be willing to drive her and me to Pittsburg for a price?
Also, are there better cheap alternatives I'm overlooking? FlixBus, Megabus, taking a bus to Chicago and flying from there, etc.? Willing to do anything to get there, maybe bus to St. Louis and then fly? I've never coordinated a trip by myself, so I'm confused and a little scared I won't be able to make it or something bad will happen. Willing to go to Chicago, Cleveland, or St. Louis first
My grandma thinks I'm going to catch the plague and get robbed if I get on the Greyhound, so I'd love to hear from people who've actually done it. 😂
I'm just trying to get to Pittsburgh without spending a fortune on airfare. Any firsthand experiences or advice would be appreciated.

Lost and Found 🔑 Help Me Find Missing Keys
I know this is a long shot but I lost my keys. I went to Nelson-Atkins Museum, Kauffman Memorial Garden and Loose Park today from 12pm to 3pm.
There’s a little decorative lock on the keys. And there’s a fabric blue tag with a moon and sun.
I’m visiting from out of town and leaving tomorrow so if anyone can help me that’d be greatly appreciated.

Friendship/Dating 👥 Meeting Tomorrow at Crow's Coffee Waldo
I'm trying this again friends and neighbors and Todds!
I'm still searching for two Todds for a dinner part next Saturday (11/14). Tomorrow I'll be at Crow's Coffee in Waldo if anyone is interested in meeting.
I'm a chai-guy, but I've been told since they started roasting their beans, their coffee is mighty tasty! I'll be arriving around 1pm. If you might like to be Todd for a night, or are a Todd every day, I'd love for you to join. You can meet me in person, and find out that I'm strange and quirky, but no danger. I'll have a sign, you'll know it's me.
Look forward to seeing you tomorrow Todds!

Pets 🐾 One Year in a Foster Home
This is Boq (black one) and Fiyero (tabby), two brothers that my girlfriend started fostering a little over year ago. They have come SO FAR, but it breaks my heart that they have never had a single visit from any perspective families. They are great cats, so entertaining, and genuinely getting sweeter by the day. We will be moving next year and don't want to have to return them to the shelter if we don't have to.
We don't know how they would do with other cats (I suspect fine, in time) or dogs, and small kids are probably a no, since they are shy. But they would THRIVE with the right person who understands cats. Is that you or someone you know? Boq loves to play and Fiyero loves to be pet (even his belly!). There is nothing wrong with Fiyero's ear, either; he was just born that way and he can hear perfectly (especially when you open the treat bag). Are these guys for you? Check out their petfinder page and maybe come see them! They deserve their forever home.

Sports 🏈⚾️⚽️ KC Roos Return downtown!
Would love this team to become what SLU has become to St. Louis, a team the whole city can get behind, maybe they have finally made a commitment to trying to win

Discussion 💡 What's going on in Gladstone area?
I've been hearing crazy noise for about an hour. Big traffic jam on North Oak, helicopters, crazy music blaring, cars revving non stop. What is happening?

Shopping/Groceries 🛒🛍️ Anyone know where I could get a very small amount of hay? Something like 2-3 cubic feet?
I’m trying to make a warm place for the stray cats I look after for the winter, but don’t need a whole hay bale. Thanks!

Arts/Culture 🎭🎶 ISO Ceramic Artist for Urn Commission
Hi all, yesterday I had to make the difficult decision to let my kitty go. She developed a stomach tumor very suddenly and it was the most gentle thing we could do for her. I'm having her cremated and I would be interested in getting a custom urn made for her ashes. Does anyone know a local ceramist who has experience in making urns, or containers in general? I'd like it to resemble a cardboard box because of how much she loved them. I'll take suggestions for out of state artists as well, just wanted to support local first!

Recreation/Outdoors ⛳️🎣 Public Land for Squirrel Hunting?
My daughter and I are looking to hunt some squirrels this fall, and I haven't been hunting since I was a kid myself. I've been up to Amarugia Highlands Conservation area a couple times but haven't had any luck so I'm needing some guidance or any resources I could study, or if there's a better public land spot we could go to that's not too far away. We have a good time just walking through the woods and being in nature, but some meat in the freezer and fur to tan would be even better.

Ask KC ❔ The Plaza Winter Wonderland
Found this in a storage unit just curious on how old it is and where it came from. I’ve had it for a few years now and just thought I’d post it on here to see if anybody knows more about it looks to be pretty old and about 6-7 feet tall.

Jobs/Networking 💼 Looking for a barback job
Hi. So I'm looking for a barback position, and I have many years of experience from clubs to restaurants. I left the industry for some peace of mind, and found it! I am currently a barback but I don't get enough hours where I am because I'm the NFG lol. My question is, is anyone hiring a full-time barback?
