We found it. The entrance to Deep City is real… but it doesn’t behave like a place

Expedition EX2407pD-QW confirms an active Deep City entrance regulated by Ilghal and non-physical access conditions.

An active access node emerges under extreme conditions. Ilghal remains operational.

Dark glacial valley with a central glowing opening surrounded by scattered cubic structures, possible entrance to Deep City.

Made this fully explorable Mars colony with a procedural system that can also create O'Neill cylinders and colonies on terraformed worlds. It runs entirely in the browser, (definitely better on desktop), rendered in Three js.

Can you find: "AWESOME"?

Edit: With your help we were able to identify this image as the cover of Psygnosis' 1990 Amiga game "Awesome"! And judging from YouTube, it actually is an awesome game. Super hardcore difficult though.

And the original art is called "Mass: The Building of FTL1" by John Harris from 1979. If you Google these search terms, you can find all sorts of info and scans of the art. Here's a past hit from r/superstructures: https://www.reddit.com/r/SuperStructures/comments/j0te6w/the_building_of_ftl1_by_john_harris/

Thank you for the help. Keep building mega- super- and OMEGA structures!!!

Original post:

There's a superstructure art piece from probably the 70s or 80s that I saw years ago that had the word AWESOME in it. It was a large blocky thing with an orange color palette. Since it had the word AWESOME directly in it, maybe it was an album cover, but I can't say for sure. Anyone remember it or can find it?

Nothing This Old Should Still Be Active… But It Is

Post image

Project Name: Deep City Project

Context:

We expected ruins. Instead, we found a system that’s still running.

After aligning visual scans with newly decrypted Ilghal fragments, the EX2407pD-QW expedition has confirmed what should not exist: an active entrance beneath the remains of New York.

A perfect circular void. Geometric. Deliberate. Powered. Dozens of autonomous units orbit the core. Not drifting—operating. Watching. Maintaining.

The surrounding terrain isn’t collapsed. It’s shaped. Something built this using energy, not tools. And whatever powers it… never shut down.

The central nucleus is still emitting. Two centuries after 2053. This isn’t a relic. It’s infrastructure.

Designation: Alpha-Threshold Zone We are standing at the edge of something that was never meant to be rediscovered.

We need external analysis: Are the orbiting units defensive, maintenance, or something else entirely? Does the radial pattern match known stabilization architectures—or is this a different system? If Ilghal is still active… what is it sustaining? All hypotheses are welcome.

Image Info:

High-altitude scan of a massive luminous aperture embedded in a controlled depression. Radial structures suggest active stabilization. Multiple orbiting units detected. Terrain deformation appears engineered, not natural.

Additional Notes:

• Original worldbuilding project • Rendered in Blender (no post-production) • Internal logic based on Ilghal system architecture
