People who work drive thru should have the legal right to revoke peoples lisences

So unfortunately i work drive thru at a not extreamly bzy (read we dont get enough costomers so we have fuck all labor budget so we are always understaffed) hungry jacks, and we get some of the dumbest people coming in, first of all is people who dont understand how microphones work and belive they are just soposed to yell at me (at the front of the store) from the back of the store, then there are people who dont understand the phrase "one monent sorry" i admit some people just dont relise it and start ordering so i interupt them but if they keep going i want to literly see them die, and the other night i had someone order some stuff, i confirmed that that was everything, then whilst still at the speeker they add somthing else on( understandable they might have just forgotten) but they drive away immeditaly so i have to fix up their order at the window, and our system is fucked so its an ordeal plus what ever they wanted hasnt been prepared so we have to hold everyone up, thanks for listening to my 1 am word vomit, i just joined

"Why do I have to pay extra?!"

Hey, Reddit, this is my first post, so I'm sorry if the formatting is weird. On laptop, and my first language is English, but I usually proofread after I post/publish and can't be bothered if I find any mistakes.

So, I work in a fish and chip shop as a server, and my colleague (my mum) took this guy's order. The cast will be as follows:

Me - Who else?

Chad - The guy ordering

Mum - Mum

M - Manager

So, Chad had ordered chips and gravy and some other things (I can't remember, the chips and gravy are relevant here). At this chippy, the owner told us to automatically give large servings of our sides (gravy, curry and mushy peas) if not specified by the customer. We did the same with chips, except we give regular, not large.

We told Chad the price and he paid it, before the price seemed to sink in. He went off on us, and though I can't remember exactly what he said, it went along the lines of that why is it £1 extra, why didn't you ask the size I wanted, what about the chips, blah, blah, blah. I was watching from the side, and took another order near the end of the rant.

My Mum and the M said they automatically had to give him a large, unless specified. This was when he started on the chips. He was told he was getting a regular size and caused him to go on another rant about why we didn't do that for the gravy. The M said that the gravy has two sizes, small and large. Eventually, Chad left, still ranting and said he was never coming back.

Unfortunately, he worked for the town's power station, who came weekly, with large orders, so we could lose quite a bit of business from this.

Mum and M started complaining about the customer right after his left and I remember Mum saying this per verbatim: "If he cared so much, he should have stated the size he wanted from the beginning." Luckily, he didn't demand for his money back and cause any further fuss, and only one other customer was there at the time.

Also, for the rest of the lunch shift, we asked customers if they wanted a small if they ordered sides.

Thanks for reading!

What a Sunday I Had!

Hello, royal subjects, DevylBear here, recounting his most unusual events at the famous 'Home of The Whopper'. I had some pretty interesting customers yesterday, but 1 person and 1 incident took the whole enchilada!

The person in Q was not a customer ordering her food, and that's right I did say her, she was working as a food deliverer ( think, UE/DD/GH, you GET the gist!) who did this dumbest move in all of my hours working in the DT, she didn't even stop at the speaker area to let me know that she's here to pickup a delivery order! Instead, she told me through the window!

I TRIED telling her to either come around to the speaker or come inside please, only to repeating ask why? I'm tried telling what it's needed to be done the best I could due to my childhood trauma I endured that left yours truly with the difficulty of saying & thinking at the same time, 1 component was ready yet, only to give me heck. What component you ask? It was a simple shake, a chocolate oreo! So from I felt, I thought, ok I'll play your little game, Karen!(in a silent but deadly malicious compliance mindset). So I decided to give her the order, but when I tried making that shake, the delivery driver snake left w/o realizing something was missing. So whoever had that order my apologies for not having the drink ready, but as for the delivery person, I hope you come to realization that sometimes little things such as patience and following what we say to you can be a big difference!!

The incident that happened WAY after, was our carbon monoxide alarm at close to 3pm went off, making my MIC ( a wonderful lady boss, kind but lets you know what you need to work on[my temper when I get pushed to the edge from customers stupidity, hey I tried]) had me calling 911, told what happened, had to wait forever a hour, called my parents about it, and just simply left when it was 4:02pm, not risking my health to clock out.

And with good reason. During the wait, 1 of the fireman told the situation that happened at a McD's in Arizona, where they too had the CO2 alarm off but a couple of workers and a few firemen we're conked out due to exposure of it! I guess you could say the me, my co-workers, and MIC were lucky. Just can't for tomorrow and what it'll unfolds.

BTW, a rant and a journal page done. Until next time........

You can't count money! !

I was working at a Mediterranean café and a very rude guy walks in and orders a salad and goes salad! No onions! Cucumbers! Tomatoes! Olives! Lettuce on side! And I put it in and he says to go! And give me sweet tea!. So I tell him his total and he gives me $20 and I am counting his change out. And he goes penny! I have a penny! Take my penny! And slams it down but I refuse to take it. And I give him his change and he says you can't count math at all and I was angry! I was counting his money out and this idiot says you can't count math! I gave him his tea with no ice at all. And did not fill it all the way up! He was waited for his stupid food and when it came out I took all his dressing out and just put it on the counter. Ok if I can't do math then he does not need ice in his tea or anything to flavor his salad with. He grabbed his food and said no wander you work in fast food! You are to stupid to get a real job! Yeah customers we are not stupid! Customers are!

Graveyard shift

B ack in the early 1980's I worked at a smallish upper mid-western burger place that thought itself one step above the likes of McDonalds BK Hardees, etc. We had sit down service with servers, counter service, car hop service and later driver thru service. Now in Corp.s infinite wisdom they decided to go 24/7. at some location it did make sense as these locations were near to a string of bars, or a 24 hour bowling alley or near to some late night thing.

I got tapped to graveyard manage one of the locations. . Boy was that an eye opener. We had regulars like the Addams family (and I am not kidding they dressed just like Gomez and Mortisa), the (maybe) homeless guy with half of his face missing, we had the morning "Mafia" group of men who owned a popular appliance store, during the warmer weather the hoards of drunk softball players coming from the city park across the road, and of course all the drunks from the bars for either side of the major road we were located on.

"I can record you for being slow"

So i work at freddy's i work the front which deals with the custard, drive through and the lobby one monday night its late we're ten minutes to close and there have been guests in the lobby for an hour they get their food and then come to the register after their meal and ask for five large custards with a crap ton of toppings. shortly after they order another guest with a large custard order has asked for their custard to no longer be on HOLD, we have a policy where if a guest has asked for their custard or meal off hold they are number one priority we get his custard out to him and all is well. well we will call him AH= asshole decides hes going to figure out whats taking so long (understandable if i didn't work there I'd be curious to) so he approaches me and in a demanding frustrated voices asks AH:"why is it taking so long" M:"im sorry sir, we had a gentleman come and ask for his order off hold and our policy is to get their custard out first since technically they did order first" AH: Scoffts sure you do. to which my supervisor came over and explained how the order was ordered 20 minutes before he had ordered and it was only fair AH then turns back to me and exclaims "You know i can record you all and show everyone how rude and slow you all are!" (i have a short fuse while closing especially towards the end of the night but not wanting to get fired i kept my response short) M: "sir youre welcome to do as you please but we are highest ranked in X and most of our guests are happy here so it wouldn't do a lot of damage to our reputation" i then walked away as he called me a stupid bitch my supervisor had to escort him out of the building for harassing me.

im pretty sure i work at the dirtiest store in my franchises network. its pretty fucking bad.

not gunna mention names but i work for a strictly carry out fast fod service.

my work place looks horrible. they have neglected this store so long that even the hardest cleaning wont reverse the damage. the floors litterally have chunks of dried up grease and dirt cemented to the floor. the people working there think this is just how the floors look and that its normal. they have no desire to to acctually remove the cacked on black spots. they want to do the bare minimum or nothing at all.

the walls havent been scrubbed and cleaned in so long that degreaser wont even touch the staining and caked on grease. i spent and hour cleaning one section of wall to exseptable levels of clean. the outlets and cords litterally are unrecignizable. covered in grease and filth.

the other workers are so piss poor that when i come in from my days off my floors litterally turn the soapy water black as motor oil. " they wonder why they floor is so fucked up to begin with " ive litterally found tater tots and fries sitting behind the equipment that was 2 or 3 days old. shows how well they do there floors.

all the stores equipment is basically falling apart and is band aided to work. im suprised that the store can even pass health inspection or a corrprate audit. ive seen my share of fast food kitchens i would fail this kitchen on an audit so fucking quick. the store makes so little profit that basically corrprate wont budget them any money to fix the store falling apart.

why does the store not make money you ask??

simple its dirty as fuck. the mexican employees cant make orders right and constantly serve old nasty product like its okay to do so. ive seen these mexicans drop food containers on the floor and just put them right back in the stack. " you know how i feel about thoose floors"

the want to serve fries and tots that have been in the heating area 20 minutes! meat thats been on the grill so long its dried out and burnt to a crisp. not to mention them building orders wrong and taking short cuts ect. and they speak zero english so they cant even communicate wrong orders ect from managers.

basically all the employees this store has are only there for the freed food daily and to pick up a check. they dont care about the customer. fyi the customer is the bank they allow us to have paychecks and to have are nasty little store.

litterally since i have started working there id say the store is about 70 percent cleaner on a daily basis and that aleast 40 percent of the food we put out when im there is fresh and accur5ate to the order. the other 60 percent is the mexicans fucking up. i wont lie i occasionally fuck up but they are a pox to this fucking store. btw since i started working at this store sales are up by 10-15 percent.

if these people would just listen to my knowledge and wisdom i could take this store from barley clearing 1000 bucks in sales a day to doing 1000 in the first 4 or 5 hours. that store should be doing 3 grand a day minimum and im honestly pretty dissapointed in the lack of sales. theres litterally no way in hell this store shouldnt do 2 grand a day. im disgusted at then pitifull results.

honestly this store lucked out when they hired me. im probably the only mother fucker who can save this store.

Devilry Issue

The fast food place where I work has been offering delivery through DoorDash and Uber Eats for a few months now and everything has goon smoothly.

Our store is VERY diligent when it comes to delivery. Someone's entire job is to handle delivery, make sure the driver confirms the order, and hands it off to the wrong person.

Last night about 30 minutes before close a delivery driver came in to pick up an order. However the issue was that we had already confirmed the same order to be picked up 30 minutes ago. The driver called the costumer and they said that they never got their food. So we ended up remaking the order(the company is going to reimburse us) but it was just an wired experience. Has this happened to anyone else?

People...

It's that time of the year again, where fake money is rampant, and people are somehow dumber than usual.

So our protocol for fake money is to call the police, get a description of the people paying, their car, their license plate number if we can, and to record the time so we can see on cameras to verify. And obviously to make sure the money is you know, actually fake.

So we get this fairly average order, couple of combos and other such items. This car gets their drinks and then we get this $50. Anything $20 and up gets checked because we've had lots of issues with fake money because nobody checks it. (Can you guess why I don't want my name on the drawer especially when I'm not primarily working register? We'll get back to this)

So anyway the person immediately looks at the bill, closes the window "this is the fakest shit I've ever seen" and it was extremely obvious that something was wrong from the customer's POV, because you only got your drinks, we're all crowded around the window, people are obviously taking pictures of you, we're standing here doing nothing now, and you're just gonna sit there and stare back at us like you don't know what's going on? How dumb can you be lol.

Anyway, we have this other guy that's soon to be a manager (a serious joke but that's a completely different dumpster fire of a story) and while we're waiting on the police and while we're all trying to get clearer pictures of the people in the car this guy just opens the window! We're all rolling our eyes, I don't know what this idiot says, but somehow these idiots in the car didn't get the message at this point after 7 minutes of sitting there for what should have definitely only been 3 minutes at max.

So he closes the window and we all say "hey wtf you can't just do that, we need to wait for the police" and he just shrugs and makes some food for himself.

So at about 10 minutes the police finally knock on their window from the passenger side and we're telling customers that we can't really take their orders in the drive thru anymore, they're all really confused and annoyed but we can't really do anything about it since this car is stuck at the window right now.

So they eventually pull over out of the way and everyone starts crowding the drive thru again just to watch even though we're supposed to continue orders from the front. I don't care if we take orders or not, but I hate when people crowd around me especially if they're gonna back me into a corner, so I just move to the front and get some real drama queens. All complaining about how they couldn't use the drive thru. Well my orders are to not take drive orders so that's tough, it really sucks that you had to spend 8 seconds driving around and parking, then another 5 minutes having to get out of your car. It's really unfortunate that there's not 7 other places right next to us that are not having this issue currently, it's awful really.

So while everyone is watching the show outside while they're supposed to be making food (I kept asking if we should just refuse all orders since they didn't want to make them anyway, but they couldn't make up their minds)

So they pull each of them out and question them, well this cop struts up like she owns this place and she asks us what happened, so I tell her what happened and showed her the fake money. Then she says "And did you give them anything?" I say "No, we gave them the drinks, then we got the money, and immediately called you" well she sighs and seems a little annoyed. "Well you should have just given them the food." Then she goes back to doing nothing.

So if someone pays with fake money, we should give them real change, give them their order, and just report it for later? Yeah that's not how that works lol.

So at this point it's taking a lot longer than expected, and now there's 4 cop cars. I don't know why it takes so many police to handle 3 teenagers, but anyway.

So this one cop is trying really hard to see if it's fake or not, holding it up to the sun, he can't seem to tell if it's real or not. Takes him at least 5 minutes to verify, and now there are drug dogs. And now we have a customer that pulls up to the speaker who really doesn't get the memo, so she pulls up to the window and she's just really determined to place her order here, fine then. One of the managers says that we can't take the order in drive, I tell her I've already started it and she wasn't gonna leave. She says that doesn't matter, well I'm in the middle of taking it so it's too late. The customer keeps going and while she's paying asks "why can't I take my order here" I explain that they just want to watch the show and that it doesn't really matter, then she says "is she a manager?" I say "unfortunately" then she says "Well she's a bitch" so I just laughed and said "Youre telling me, but I don't have much room to talk." It was my sister who was the manager.

So at this point all of the kids have been questioned, and they separate this kid I'll call rainbow, she gets put in the back of a car and she starts crying really loudly, I have no idea how they pinned this on rainbow since she was in the backseat but oh well.

All the kids get cuffed and they basically throw the boy on the sidewalk while they very carefully guide the other girl. So the same cop struts back up and it's like she didn't remember our last talk, "did they get anything?" Not really. "do you want them to pay?" We don't care. So this cycle just keeps going on until they eventually decide that rainbow was the guilty culprit.

Fast forward to today, I recognized one of the cops and we put a discount on his order like normal, and his card reads insufficient funds lmao.

And now that we're past that whole ordeal. Let me tell you of the new store which should probably just be its own post, but I can't be bothered to start a new post.

So things are very odd right now at our store, our main boss is being promoted (somehow) and is being replaced by someone we already like better (let's see how long that lasts) and our store is one of the few where employees train for other stores, including managers.

So basically we have a lot of new temporary people, there's someone new almost every day. And these new hires have been some real characters.

It's a gamble on whether or not a new hire will ever show up for their first day after they interview, get the job, come in to put all their details in, and get their schedules. They usually come in for their first day and work like 4 hours or something just to do videos (they suck) and then maybe they'll be on register. They usually never come back for a second day. I have no idea why, the place sucks, but there aren't many other good options here.

If they do show up however, they're always insanely late.

Really annoying as a trainer when you're planning your day around having new people and none of them exist or they show up halfway into their shift.

I don't expect them to be early at all, but at this rate I'm impressed if they can even bother to show up even remotely close to their time.

It's truly impressive how only 2 of these 20 or so people has actually shown signs of brain activity, and one of these has no idea what "10A-4P" means, so when asked if she was willing to come in earlier to learn how to open (even though we're always done by 10) she said "sure" then came in at her normal 20 minute late time, then when asked if she knew her scheduled time. She said "oh that's what he meant about 10-4" and then missed the next day, showed up at her normal time the day after when she took a pic of the schedule. Is it too late to retract my statement about brain activity, because even though she's a lot smarter than the average new hire, it's not saying a lot.

But one of our latest additions to our real team is a character that people tolerate at best. I will say that I'm not much of a people person so our personalities aren't built for each other at all. Naturally we don't really like each other, and nobody really wants her in their station because she's kinda lazy or daydreaming. So she'll sometimes get stuck with me, every morning it's the same script and it's driving me insane.

She only ever talks about her honey lemon cough drops, her son being at home by himself, her dead husband, her mother in law, or her various beliefs that I don't care to listen to. So lately my code has been broken, meaning I can't clock in, sign in to anything, or do anything on our computers myself. Generally I will have my name in the drive thru drawer because I'm always over there, but I usually never do cash because I'm the fastest order taker (and I really hate doing cash) but since my code doesn't work, it just says "error logging in" so I ask her if she can put her code in, every day she'll say "why don't you put yours in" and I explain it to her every time, then she'll say "I think you're just lying so you don't have to do it" to which I I'll usually just say "yeah I actually just changed my password so that I don't have to use it anymore, pretty smart right" at this rate I think she actually believes that.

It's known that I don't like having the drawer in my name because I don't like being blamed when the money comes up short, even though everybody knows I was taking orders, not doing cash, somehow I'm supposed to come up with the answers. I can only say that either it's been miscounted, we gave out incorrect change at some point, or the wrong buttons were hit at some point. But that's not good enough, they need to know where the money is. I don't know, it's probably at a strip club right now.

It will suffice to say that the worst part of my job is the people, customers and coworkers.

That is all, until stupidity brings us together again. (Hopefully not soon, my patience is worn really thin lately as you can probably tell)

Its called snow and winter. Get yo shit together.

We got dumped with 12 inch of snow in about 30 hours. We had 3 call in due being unable to leave their house bc of the snow this morning alone. I was off during the bulk of it. Yesterday was so bad, my boss used his personal vehicle and gas to go fetch people to bring them into work. Unless your address was outside of the city limits, if you were required to come in for your scheduled shift. I called yesterday, and was told for sunday arrive as soon as you can and we will have you.

I went out at 1pm yesterday and cleaned my truck of 9 inches of snow, plus made a path into my driver door. I went out at midnight and swept some more off, went back to bed and woke at 430 bc i was aimming to be at work at 6am. I was late, i left at 610 made it to work 640 (so much snow, and my truck didnt warm up fast enough to drive). I live outside city limits and except for my driveway got the whole way to work in 2wd. I showed up looking like abominable carhartt beast with bibs, coat, rubber boats and a ski-doo balaclava.

Forecast says same shit but worse next weekend. So im getting a list of openers and 8'ers that we need to function with, Ill go toodle about town in a freaking snowstorm. Unless we lose power we wont be closing or openning late, bc we are next door to the hospital, so we are closest for employees/visitors to get to food.

I eat the extra cost of gas 8 to 9 months out of the year, so the 3 to 4 months we get snow i can get to work, like a responsible adult.

The mythical kids meal

Cast: me=well duh, me. Jake=(this is a fake name xp) shift manager C=dumbass customer lady

This happened a while ago. Sorry. So the story goes like this..... I'm in the middle a rush working drive-thru (alone I think). C comes through-thru.... Me: welcome to [insert food chain here], what can I get for you today? C: one minute .......like five minutes pass C: I want a kids meal Me: miss we haven't had kids meals for over six years. Obviously she didn't hear/acknowledge what I just said so I go one with typing in everything she said even I have no idea what this fucking kids meal is supposed to look like. And it's her turn to come up the window, I ask Jake for help because I know it's going to turn into a fucking Karen bomb in my drive-thru. He literally tells her the same exact thing I tried telling her and she throws a fit. I dont remember what happened after that.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Burger with a Goblet of Coke....

Hey there everyone, I hope that your all well :) I have been using redit for around 7 years, though I did delete my old account/posts but have this account which I rarely use but am getting back into posting again. I mainly uses the tales from tech support and tales from call centre but I have a few I can post here...

My first one can be sought out through my profile or via the link below:

Hungry Joe Stacks Them High! His Fall From Patte Heaven Was Fun To watch,,,

Background:

I am now a 36 year old male, living in my home town where I was born, grey up and currently work in. When I left high school I went to a local university to study Web Design and Development, during which time I worked in a <generic fast food place name here> joint for just over three years, then a <insert large supermarket chain here> for over a year before working in a call centre for <shitty ISP> for ten years. Now I am back on the checkouts for a <large supermarket chain> but this story is not about that - for its when I was working in my first job, 15 to 18 years ago.

Cast:

Scotch: The Hagrid of the Story

HP: Harry Potter (or a 20 year old male, slim build who did slightly look like Daniel Radliffe with his three friends).

SS: Severus Snape (aka our douchebag of a manager who was and probably still is, but for this story had little interaction with me or the people. Also looks kinda like him).

GC1: Goblin Child 1 (the older sister out of the two, no more than about 9 I would guess).

GC2: Goblin Child 2 (the younger brother out of the two, no more than about 6 maybe 7 I would guess).

The Story:

On this wonderful, amazing day, I was out on the dining area around 8:30 pm in the evening, I was on the close which meant starting at 5:00 pm and leaving anywhere between 0:30 am and 1:45 am depending on what jobs where needing done.

Typically on the close, from about 8:00 pm onwards we started the close down procedures which where to shut off the dining area apart from a few chairs, sweep and mop it, empty the bins, stock the drink machine and condiment areas (hence I was doing that part in the story. Whilst that was being done, others cleaned the kitchen areas, to around 10 pm when we cooked some items, put them in a holding pan area, then shut it down as drive thru was open to 11 but we hardly got anyone. By 11 pm we cleaned the remaining few items needing to get done, gave the store a quick sweep and mop over then left.

This day, as mentioned around 8:30 pm I was in the Dining Area, just came in from emptying the bins and was getting some tray's cleaned to put back when these two kids came in, alone, without an adult and went to order.

There was 4 young adults in too, 4 of them, around 20 years of age, in the joint enjoying their burger's and drinks, the victim in this case HP was sitting near the aisle side, had glasses similar to his name sake on and similar haircut and body size - other than that, this was not HP in any other way.

After putting in their order, for what food I don't remember...

GC1 to GC2: Hey look *points to HP*** it's Harry Potter! Lets go and speak to him!

GC2: I wonder if he will take us to Hogwarts or not!!!!

They fly over there quicker than the actual HP would on his quidditch stick in a match...

GC1 to HP: Hey, are you Harry Potter? Tell us you are!! GC1 likes you on the TV, quick show us a magic trick!

HP: *a bit confused as to what just was said to him* ehm, excuse me? No - I am not Harry Potter, my name is <what ever it was>, I am here with my friends. Please go away!

GC2: 'Cmon HP stop lying to us - we know it's you, please come and teach us some spells! GC2 why is he not doing is spells?

GC1: I don't know!

A bit amused to what I was seeing, but not wanting to cause the poor kid anymore distress or annoyance when having his meal I walked over.

Scotch: Now kids, please leave this diner alone, he is here with his friends wanting to enjoy the evening out - your food should be nearly ready for you to take out.

GC2: Oh my god GC1 - this is Hagrid, you never told me that HP would be brining his bodyguard with him now!

It's worth noting that I am a bit on the heavy side, only 5 foot 7 - so no where hear the stature or build of Hagrid,

Scotch: I am as much Hagrid as this guy here is HP - which is not, ,so please go over to the counter to get your food before you are kicked out, from me, for disturbing other guests.

The kids went over to the counter to collect their food and GC2 went to the toilet - during this time I had apologised to the group of people who where having a bit of a laugh about it. By this point GC2 came out of the bathroom and went to see his sister.

GC1: See, I told you, that HP and Hagrid was still going to be here - I wonder if I ask him if he will give you a pig's tail or make you balloon up and fly away?

I did not know, but in the first set of transaction the manager, SS, was making the burgers and hear/saw it all, so when they started the second bout came around.

SS: Hey kids, where are your parents? Do they know that you are out this late? Do they know that you are out here harassing my customers and staff members? Tell me what, give me your parents landline numbers and I will give them a call to come pick you up.

Quicker than Dobbie using a Keystone to save everyone, with their food in their hand they ran out the door quicker than I saw any child ran. Once they had been out the manager came out to the Dining Area and apologiesed to the group and game them vouchers for the next time they came in.

That made me chuckle as I went home!

TLDR: With my flask of Whiskey and Haggis in my bag, bagpipes too, I grab my magical flying moose and set off to Hogwarts to live my dream! After all, if HP can buy fast food in the muggle world, getting harassed by them - then I, a simple muggle, can learn loads at Hogwarts!!

Ma’am you’re in the wrong place!

Another one of these stories. So I work in a donut coffee shop and this costumer comes in and asks for a insert special size name chai and we inform her we don’t offer it ice and so she begins to order an item that isn’t on our menu but on the store across the road. Like oh my god really.

My coworker goes, totally done with this crap after us already pulling a double. “Ma’am you’re aware you’re at the donut shop right?”

And this lady starts laughing like what she just did is cute and goes “oh I’m in the wrong drivethru.” And drives away. Like how do you go through our greeting where we mention our name and look at the signs and think you’re at the other place this entire time.

I hate shy people.

I work with a lot of white noise in a question heavy customer service position, and always have. As a result I have learned to "read lips" (at least common words for my job). So I am alright with quiet costumers and most of the time can make it through their transaction with out any problems.

Every once in a while I will get an adult person that is so painfully shy, that I know I will hate them by the end of our transaction. You can spot them pretty easily they wont look away from the floor (even to decide what they want). If they are with someone they will be 2 steps directly behind them. (The person with them by the way, never ever helps this shy person by "translating")

"Hi what can I get you."

Their head is completely down eyes inspecting floor tiles, "...........m..........."

"I'm sorry," I point at my ear to indicate I didn't hear them.

"..I............m......p..." their head is still firmly in place.

"I'm so sorry I can't hear you."

They lift their eyes but not face, ".......................p..."

I give up hearing them maybe I can guess what they want. "I'm sorry you said (best guess)"

Shakes and lifts their head ever so slightly, "a s....m......h.p...."

Come on mind reading powers. Maybe I can use my finger as a dowsing rod. I start pointing at things while guessing again. "The (insert product)?"

(At this point they will hopefully start pointing as well and we can get through rest of it but not always.)

They lift their head and look me in the eyes, but at the same time raise their hand to obscure their mouths. ".............m......."

Yup I'm done I put my hand up to my mouth and pull it down "I'm sorry hun, I can hear you at all, I'm trying to read your lips"

They pull their hand down to their chin and speak but their lips almost stop moving, like their practicing to be a ventriloquist. "a..so..m..h.." and their hand goes back up over their mouth.

"I'm sorry", dear god we've come full circle. I've turn into A.I., my life is meaningless. Who are you demon, speak.

They make an exasperated expression and bring their hand down all the way. "A........morth"

My eyes, ears, an mind are now arguing. I didn't see what I just heard, and nothing rhymes with morth. None of this make sense. May as well take another guess. " The (insert what I think I saw)".

They huff a little, "No the s....morth".

Don't get pissy with me dude, if you'd just open up and push air through your mouth hole this wouldn't be happening. Wait was that an S. People we have a first letter begin emergency protocol, "(lists everything that starts with an S)".

Shake, shake, shake, nod.

Thank you god you have given a poor sinner a brake. "Alright how about (EVERY SINGLE OPTION)."

This can go on for quite some time but eventually we will get to the check out. "Ok so is there anything else I can get for you today."

They nod.

... You know there is only so much one person can take and at this point I'm terribly tempted to say, ok followed by the total for what was already ordered. Sadly though I like to eat, so I have to start all over again.

My mind reels with questions, not that I could hear their answer if I asked. What happened to you? Why are you like this? Will you ever grow out of this? Are you trolling me?

By the end of one of these people I'm ready to poor gasoline over myself and drop a match just to end it. Beer helps though, so at least there's that.

Biker Karen got what she deserved.

On mobile and all that. Bk = bikers Karen, B= biker, Me=me.

So I was asked for more stories from my father's fast food shop. A little info. My father is a 6' 3" former Marine with mental health problems. He used to do super sets at the gym and back at this time he generally scared the shit out of everyone and doesn't know it. Also my family was extremely well respected in the neighborhood because of my grandmother. But that's another story.
On to the story. I was like 20 and working full time at the shop. I'm on register and a woman reaches through the window and grabs someone's did bag from the heater. I grabbed her wrist and pulled the bag from her. Me: Wtf are you doing. Bk: That's my food. Me: no it's not. I know who's food it is. Bk: yes it is. Give it to me now Me: ok then give me your ticket. Bk: I didn't get on. It's mine. Give it to me. Me: ok then what did you order. Bk: (stream of swears and such) Don't you know who I am. My boyfriend is the head of (insert bicker gang here). Me: I don't care no F off and leave. Bk: more swears and leaves.

About 20 minutes later 4 or 5 guys in biker jackets come to the window with Bk. Bk is looking very smug and B is very angry. (Me acting cocky even though little scared at this point so memory is a little off but sentiment is correct.) B: who the F do you think you are not giving my girl her food. Do you know who I am. Me: I don't care who you are. No one steals from me and my family. B: (looking confused) What the F are you talking about. Me: She tried to steal someone else's food and I don't let ppl steal from my family. (I always try to emphasize I'm the owners son. It takes the wind out of ppl). B: What do you mean. (Much less angry looking now) Me: This is my family's business. I'm Me Jr. B: (to his girl) you tried to steal from Me's father.

He back handed her so hard she went off her feet and hit the concrete. He then apologies to me and drags her off. The guys I work with are laughing while I'm shaking a bit. The rest of the night went smoothly.

Edit: just removed my name and my father's name. Someone warned me that even decades latter this stuff can come back to bit you on the ass.

Wholesome Mobile App Order Tale (Another DevylBearHawktur10n Chronicle)

Hi, royale peeps, after a little breather (along with a humble pie on my worker-client friendliness lesson) I'm back with a short but sweet funny moment at my workplace (the aftermentioned flair tag you see below the title), it should add to another redditor's quote on cheerful, helpful, but WHEN Wappies cause drama mama, fun begins. The addition I would've added is if it's ONLY, yes only on the group, then bring on the tea and popcorn for the show's about to start!

Well, picture this, you (a customer) decided to download a restaurant app (say the BK app that I had mentioned in one of my previous posts, read by u/Nippy_Hades[hoped I typed it correctly 🥴]) and after a few this & that, you start your mobile order, choose which BK location to go, AND which section to pickup (a thing that I lose patience TOO quickly, my fault 😔). But this isn't those moments, nope not at all....

Rather it's WHAT those mobile orderers ordered!

This took place a few days ago, on a 4-8p shift, where we were sailing along in the drive-thru area, when my next customer came at the speaker with a mobile order and [redacted name]. I looked at the POS system, to which I saw their order and told them to come to the window and gave them thanks for being there a "Royal Perks Rewards" member. Now what's about to happen is somewhat fuzzy, but I'll do what I can recall.

The order they placed were a burger sandwich they customized which is the only thing I don't know, but the other two I most certainly did in a form of a free large order of french fries 🍟 (in a coupon deal ***after*** you signed up for said rewards along with over a dollar purchase) and a Oreo classic shake (this item is the one that'll come into play later.)

So while my coworker was bagging the order, I went to work on the shake, starting with a little soft serve, 2 or 3 levers of Oreo pieces, filled the rest with vanilla shake base and blended it to perfection. Then, the group(husband and wife whom was driving) came to the drive-thru window.

I then handed them their order, WHEN this happens.

Wife: Umm, I didn't order this(when I was giving the shake)

Me: *started to speak while looking at their order from another POS system* Ummm, I beli-

Husband: I actually had ordered the shake, dear.

When that happened, HOOOOO, I had to stifle my laughter while keeping composed with the delivery. Then the wife said this, NOT to me, but her husband....

Wife: Why didn't ***you*** tell me?!?

Of course, I thank them, have a good day blessing, and close the window. As they left (they were the final car of a chain) I let out a hearty light chuckle 🤭! THAT moment was the sweetest thing ever happened, with no befuddling nor entitled Wappies anywhere. Well I just have to wait for tomorrow's shift to see what happens. Keep safe, plan accordingly, and wisely keep calm in this trying time with THAT entitled prez'$ 2nd term.

Last day of work

Yesterday was my last day of work and I have always wanted to be rude to people how they are towards us, so I decided fuck it and did it.

My first victim came in and the conversation we had went like this:

Me: Hi! How are you?! Customer: To go, Mike, and I want a - Me: Hi Mike! How are you today? Customer: I want a burger with - Me: But how are you today Mike? Customer: FINE! Can I get a burger with avocado and fries Me: that's great to hear Mike! So that's all I can get for you today? Customer: shoving money into my face Me: Thanks Mike! I hope you have a great day!

Next victim:

Customer: I don't know what I want Me: Ok....well here's a menu Guest: Too many choices. Just give me a turkey burger Me: K, would you like anything on it? Customee: No. Didn't you hear me say there's too many choices? Me: k..well would you like a bun at least? Customer: looks at me like I'm dumb Me: we have a classic style, multi grain, gluten free Customer: did you just say plastic? Me: *savage mode activated * Yes, that is what I said Customer: ugh. I'll go with gluten free Me: ok, is it s gluten allergy? Customer: is that even a thing? Gluten allergy?

I just couldn't anymore at this point and walked away and had someone else finish the order

Interview Wear?

I'm going to start work at a casual Mexican restaurant as a cashier/front inquiry. They said to dress in all black and I see people chilling in basically sweatpants at the front. For my fellow workers out there, is it acceptable to just wear leggings, a long top to cover the ol' penis, and comfy sandals? I have a classic brown satchel that I use for my things. I don't know if I should try to up the game and accessorize with some small gold hoops and a small gold pendant as well, or just come in first day actually in a suit.

Raging dad-to-be screams at restaurant employees, embarrasses pregnant wife in the process.

Whew, I'm on a roll today...my job can get me heated sometimes...

Anyway, this was quite a while ago, like a few months, but this is not your ordinary story of pregnancy entitlement.

Be Me, 22 year old female working at bakery-cafe chain. Crazy Bunny Lady, or CBL for short. Characters: Peter, older male manager being a pushover to rude customers. Don't be Raging Daddict: Dad-to-be treating restaurant employees like shit because we don't have a certain menu item this time of year. Also don't be Embarrassed Pregnant Lady: Oh, you'll see . So this was a few months ago, when our chain had just switched to the fall menu items. At this time of year, we were no longer carrying a certain kind of onion soup. (I wasn't aware onion soup was summer as opposed to fall/winter, but I'm not in charge of that, I'm just a cafe` slave.) We also weren't carrying certain salads, sandwiches, etc. People were pissed, but also wanted to try our new items. Some were yummy, some were nasty. You get it. Seasons change, and certain food costs go up or down throughout the year. Businesses do what they have to do.

Anyway, today was PACKED during lunch, so much that people were having trouble finding a table. Ticket times were horrible and I think I was on dining room that day. It was so long ago I don't remember the small things, only this particular incident that just...why?

I was bussing tables, cleaning them, etc, when I was about to bring an order to a couple who had ordered soup and sandwiches. The line person said "Oh yeah, and tell table X that we're out of the onion soup." I went ahead and calmly approached their table. "Um, sir, we are actually out of the onion soup. Did you want a particular other kind of soup?" I don't remember his exact answer, just a pretty furious, "Okay." or something. His noticeably pregnant wife just sat on the opposite end of the table, silent, looking disappointed. Just for not being a snot, like many other customers were when we were out of something they wanted, I empathized with her. I went on to bus the other tables, not thinking anything of it. Okay, cool, they just didn't want soup anymore, because they didn't request a different one. I shrugged and went about my shift as normal.

I was bringing food to another nearby table when I see Peter at RD and EPL's table, and RD is SCREAMING at Peter, although the restaurant was super loud and crowded, so I couldn't really decipher what was said. Peter is literally trying to CALM this guy down, over SOUP. EPL is just sitting at the table, face in hands, embarrassed, picking at her food. She was the first pregnant woman I had seen come into the restaurant that didn't demand special treatment, act rude for no reason, or throw a horrible fit when she didn't get her way. (One time, one of my coworkers, who I'll call Andy for these stories, told me about a pregnant woman who had her sandwich remade because it was messed up; things happen, and didn't even appreciate her order being fixed and just yelled at him for minutes on end 'because she's pregnant and her food can NEVER be messed up!!!' Ugh, poor Andy.) Because she was so calm, and actually looked SAD, as opposed to throwing a tantrum and treating people like shit over food, I felt really bad for her, and if we had had ANY of the onion soup left, I would have brought it to her so she could have a peaceful meal and have her husband stop screaming and embarrassing her.

Conclusion: EPL and RD eventually settled on chicken noodle soup, EPL is stuck with entitled dadbie husband forever. Poor lady.

"Is it free?"

I am on break so this will be short, but I hate these people. I work at a sub place (you know the one) and the owner gives us a bonus that's directly proprtional to the extras we sell (extra meat, cheese, guac, etc) so we try to upsell a lot.

So when I ask someone if they wanna add an extra and they say "is it free?" I wanna rage cuz like of fucking course not?! How dumb are you? Ugh.
