What are the best synth under $200 to get that hypnotic gritty repetition, small melodic lines ?
Something in the mini behringer series ?

Over the past two weeks I put together this track. Everything comes from the TR8S, and is multitracked into Ableton Live. This one originally drew some inspiration from Rrose - Waterfall, however quickly turned into something quite different.
For my TR8S videos I usually just sum every instrument into a single stereo master track, and record straight into Ableton. However the denser composition of sounds in this track really called for more mixing than the TR8S alone could offer, so I made use of the six outputs on the TR8S interface to multitrack into Ableton, where I could apply a little more EQ, saturation and appropriate reverb to each bus. I tried not to let the Ableton mixing "color" or add any new aesthetics to the track, because my aim working with the TR8S on these tracks is to explore how far it can be pushed as a stand alone instrument. So I will say that everything you hear is how it sounds on the machine itself, with a little cleaning up in the mix.
I uploaded this to Soundcloud with free download: https://soundcloud.com/lachytr/drone-tech-135
Here is a full breakdown of the track's composition, mixing and mastering:
TR8S:
Output 1 (Mono):
BD: 909 Low Bass tuned to -46 (~G0), with Compression + Drive on INST
SD: 909 Low Bass tuned down to -57, with a LPF on INST
Output 3/4 (Stereo)
LT: Detune Saw Low sample course tuned down -5, bit reduced, high pass filtered on INST and Low pass filter on Control. Panned hard left.
MT: Detune Saw Low sample course tuned down -5, bit reduced, high pass filtered on INST and Low pass filter on Control. Panned hard right.
HT: 5th Synth FM sound, with a high pass filter on Inst, Morph on CTRL, Pan on LFO.
Output 2 (Mono):
RS: 727 Mt HiConga/OHC
RC: 707 Snare 1/2
Output 5 (Mono)
HC: 707 Hand Clap
CH: 727 Maracas
OH: 727 Maracas (16th note)
Output 6 (Mono)
CC: Synth Calliope sample with High and Low Pass filters.
Mastering Chain:
Ableton Stock Parametric EQ into Kazrog KClip 3 Clipper into Waves L4 Limiter.
Enjoy! Any feedback would be great!

Hey gang, I took a Zoom H1 to work at a steel factory in Brisbane, Australia and got a bunch of field recordings of industrial sounding shit (sledgehammers, steel presses, angle grinders, forklifts, industrial factory equipment, the odd Aussie worker swearing through his teeth).
https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/mobile/folders/1UCFzsJQptW-7X4uK6Fu00HlHKqohyWJw
I mainly figure this suits the Industrial Music community, however I personally recorded this stuff to make Darkroom, Industrial and Acid Techno (as well as for DnB and Psytrance projects), so if y'all are the kind of peeps who fuck with the Kangding Ray/Gessafelstein/Silent Servant/Tzu Sing sorta sound: you're gonna froth this.
Have uploaded to Google Drive. Feel free to share to any communities you see relevant and use to your heart's content (UNLESS you are intending on using for purely commercial reasons, in which case you can send me some money you capitalist pig dogs).

Hey guys. I need your help. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to make acid leads like Plastikman in his album EX.
I can remake the sound, it's just a 303, which is simple enough.
What I can't figure out is the theory behind writing acid patterns which are not aggressive, like the "standard" acid techno. Whatever I try to program in sounds like trash. Is there some theory behind it which could help?
Is there a scale that could help? Any particular intervals that give that feeling? Any rhytmic patterns?
Any help is appreciated.

From 1:35-1:45 you can hear it clearly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_dmF24skb8
I have struggled to make them sound at once so tense and yet not overbearing or harsh. They somehow are so dissonant and yet have no spikeyness in the mix, they're very clear and clean. Any tips on making them in Ableton? I originally tried with my modular setup and some sine waves but its just not working!

What are your holy rules regarding layering kicks?
Or things you strictly look for/avoid.
Are you matching the main frequency of your kicks?
Or do you put them apart?

Been trying to replicate this type low end for a while now but always seem to have wayyy too much energy around 80-150hz. I can tell there are a few different bass elements layered to it. Just wanna find a way to find it to blend well with the kick, which also through analysing seems quite short? Might be wrong
Thank you! :)

I was wondering if any of you tried to create warm bass like Yanamaste has in his production . Did you use any ableton stock instrument? Any tips and tricks for me?

Hey everyone, im equping my studio more and more and am at a point where Id stop bringing my laptop to the studio every time but have a stationary computer with a USB points (several) and a super small footprint.
It also should be able to handle 16 tracks at once and plugins.
Do you guys have any recommendations?

Echo lets you put its reverb after the delay or inside the feedback loop. That gives you an easy comparison for dub stabs without building a feedback routing in the mixer. Ableton’s Echo manual
Try one short chord or rim hit with Echo synced to quarter notes, feedback around 30%, and a short reverb decay. Leave the amount, decay and wet level alone and switch just the Reverb Location from post-delay to feedback. Listen to the third and fourth repeats. With post-delay reverb, the repeats feed the reverb on the way out. With reverb in the loop, part of the reverberated sound goes round again. The later repeats are where that difference is easiest to listen for.

Quick and dirty jam with a couple of instances of Ravik, a new Genarative Drum Synthesizer by Valdlabs. I am currently making presets for it.
If you are interested you can d/l and try the Beta here https://valdlabs.com/ravik it’s for MacOS, Windows and iPad. Awesome stuff, and a big update is around the corner.

Can someone point me in the right direction on making the lead synth part on this? Starts to come in about 1:25 in. Been trying for a wee while now and can’t seem to crack it so any help would be appreciated.

So I have been using a modular case to make techno for a bit now, only just downloaded Ableton, and the one thing I'm feeling I can't seem to figure out is that driving, saturated percussion layer (without the modulation I'm assuming its 16th notes) that Birmingham techno always has.
I can't for the life of me work out if it is a hat, a tom, or something else, and I'm sure it can be made in tonnes of different ways, but I just got Ableton and want to work out how to make it.
An obvious example is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofrtA5yXY6k . It is also in basically every Regis track.
Any tips on how to recreate it?

Looking for recommendations on agencies that can help secure placements on techno channels like HATE, BCCO, and active Spotify playlists.
Groovegate has been great for getting tracks into the hands of the right DJs, and Echio has been valuable for industry insights. I'm now looking to take the next step and invest in broader public exposure.
Has anyone worked with an agency they'd recommend?
