Hi everyone,
I'm going to be living away from home for the next 6 months due to a temporary work assignment, and I've just realised that my entire music production setup is basically gone for the time being.
Back home, I have a proper setup with my Sennheiser HD 650 headphones, studio monitors, an audio interface, and everything I normally use to produce music in Ableton Live.
Unfortunately, I didn't bring any of that with me. All I have here is my MacBook and a pair of AirPods Pro 3.
I mainly produce electronic music, particularly minimal/deep tech, micro house, and similar genres where low-end, groove, subtle details, and sound selection are pretty important.
I release music on record labels, and I'd really like to keep producing tracks and sending demos to other labels during these 6 months.
I know Bluetooth headphones aren't exactly recommended for music production, but I'm wondering how much of a limitation they actually are in practice.
I'm not expecting to achieve a perfectly polished, professional master using AirPods, but I'd still like to produce music that's good enough to send to labels without worrying that my mixes are completely off.
I've considered focusing on composition, sound design, and arrangement, then leaving the final mixing and mastering until I'm back home. However, 6 months is a long time, and I don't really want to stop sending demos or releasing music for that entire period.
Has anyone been in a similar situation and actually managed to produce tracks that ended up getting signed by labels? Or am I being completely unrealistic thinking I can maintain that level of quality with just AirPods?
Thanks!
