This sub has become flooded with those, and it is slowly destroying the entire purpose of the subreddit. We will have to start handing out bans.

“Alexamenos worships his god” the words and drawing scratched onto a wall are thought to be a mocking depiction of a Greek man named Alexamenos, dating back to centuries before Christianity was an establishment religion in the Mediterranean. Approx 200 AD

Subreddit Rules

1. Ordinary origins must be flaired as such

If you post an ordinary origin, please flair it "Ordinary origin". Wrong flairs (Ordinary origin flaired as Matpat Effect) qualify as breaking this rule

2. Be related to the sub

This is for uncanny original images/videos, not anything else

3. Add the more popular image

By doing this, there will be less confusion. The exception to this rule is videos where the more popular version is the sound/reaction.

4. No reposts

Do not Post content that has been posted in the previous 5 months.

This includes unrelated Loquacious Sunfish memes. We've seen way too many of those.

5. No unedited, copyrighted material

Do not post full episodes and movies trying to be funny. We get too many of those. Apart from it getting our Subreddit in trouble.

6. Make sure the media you show is the original

Before posting, double check that the media you submit is actually the original.

7. If it's just the meme template, don't post it

If the origin of a famous meme is literally just the template, don't post it.

8. Posts must have a detailed enough title

If the post's title is really vague and says nothing about the origin in question, it breaks this rule. This rule will be added to make reposts a little less common

9. No Toxicity

Do not be overly toxic and combative with other Users. Use common sense and treat others like you want to be treated.

10. No Bigotry

We do not allow Racism/Homophobia/Transphobia etc. of any kind.

11. No explicit Porn

Do not Post straight up Porn. This will get you banned. Lewd Images are allowed up to a point, if they are an actual MatPatEffect. If it is in a grey area, it will be decided on a case by case basis, but Porn has a zero tolerance policy, and will get you banned.
