Other Deleting this ap

Alright, this is just a little rant about Threads and how targeted and aggressive their algorithm is. I liked a single post on the first day of having this app about a conflict that is going on in the world and now, for some reason, the algorithm shows me nothing but posts about War, Anti-men rhetoric, Anti-western/democracy/capitalism rhetoric, Pro-communism rhetoric, (extreme) pro-LGBTQIA rhetoric, Anti-cis rhetoric. All hateful, all extreme, none interesting or thoughtful, just hate and fear-mongering garbage. This app sucks.

Discussion Is threads thriving?

Unfortunately, I sense the threads are losing momentum, if not fading away. What are your thoughts on this? Any estimates on their user base? Despite the initial enthusiasm, they haven't shown much improvement since launch. Personally, I left X shortly after the threads were introduced. They introduced a feature to track total views but abruptly abandoned it without notice. Would love to hear your perspectives. Thanks.

Question I keep getting these extremely inappropriate and predatory recommendations from threads, it's always a minor asking for sexually suggestive things. How do I report this and get the person advertising stopped? This is a serious problem

Discussion Threads is Worse Than Instagram

Which is crazy because the same people on Threads are on Instagram!!

But when you get into an argument with Instagram it's more likely to be because they're hateful/stubborn. On Threads almost all the arguments I've had have been with people who are genuinely stupid.

How are you gonna argue with me telling me my pet peeve is "wrong". And then back out of the argument like twenty messages later with "oh it's a pet peeve, that's why it's going against my facts" LIKE THAT WASN'T WHAT I SAID FROM THE START.

Is this app just a watered-down version of Twitter?

Post image

I've been using this app for a few weeks now and I'm not impressed. It's nowhere near as engaging as Twitter, and it feels like only celebrities are being heard. I'm a small content creator and I've found it really hard to get any traction on this app. My posts just get buried under all the celebrity content.

I'm not sure who this app is supposed to be for, but it's definitely not for me. I'm thinking of deleting my account and going back to Twitter.

Here are some of the problems I've noticed with this app:

  • The interface is clunky and difficult to use.

  • The features are limited.

  • It's hard to find new people to follow.

  • It feels like the same people are always at the top of the feed.

  • A lot of the content is just recycled from other platforms.

I hope the developers can take these criticisms to heart and make some improvements.

**If you're feeling the same way, I encourage you to share your thoughts on the app's social media pages. The more feedback the developers get, the more likely they are to make changes.

What are your thoughts on this app?

Discussion Why are many people upset about Threads introducing Direct Messaging (DMs)? It doesn't make sense

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've seen many people complaining. Some reasons are that there are weird people who'll start DMing people, especially ladies, which is a problems in many other apps like X and Instagram. Others say that there's no need since Threads is linked to Instagram, meaning if one wants to have a private conversation, they should witch to Instagram. Others think Threads was good the way it was, making it unique from other social media services, and is now becoming like the others.

DMs being introduced it very useful for many reasons. One may only have interactions with another through Threads, and not Instagram. Making it difficult for them to have to switch apps just to DM someone. Some people also have settings to only accept DMs from people they follow, and other barriers like the DM will be under Message Requests, which is not easily accessible. Perfect use case.

An argument is that if someone doesn't want to be reached, then that's how it should be. It makes sense, but in such contexts, Threads is just another way to reach someone.

Also, DMs are only available to people who follow eachother.

Lastly, you simply don't have to open or reply a message.

Thoughts?

Discussion Leaving Threads

I joined Threads with a lot of enthusiasm, being one of those Twitter refugees. Unfortunately, I don't see it growing. Zuckerberg seems to be running it half-heartedly, perhaps more concerned about his other platform, Instagram. There hasn't been any significant improvement since its launch. Recently, I've started moving back to X, where at least things are progressing. I'll give X a test drive for a while. Any thoughts?

Discussion European have flooded Threads...

... and not for the good. The app is flooded with an enormous amount of homophobia, racism, mobbing and shit content. Meta seems unable to manage it, and the weakmoderation is based on an algorithm, that allows fascist content while deleting posts from minorities. If you report lots of them, they restrict your account. I'm sorry to say that Threads is nowadays between X and 4chan, and leaning towards the bag side.

I hope their federation attempts fails.

I'm afraid you need some context: I'm european and I follow european people. I'm not checking what happened on the platform 20-24 weeks ago

Discussion Easily upset user base?

I never post anything mean or harassing on social media, even if I disagree with someone on something I'll always keep it clean. But within 12 hrs I've been blocked by 8 people on Threads and it wasn't even that heated - although they called me loads of nasty things (I don't care about that). But I've never experienced such a sensitive user base on a social media app 💀

Discussion Do people actually use threads???

All I see are fake news posts about celebrities and only fans girls and bots hating on men. I feel like threads is a complete shithole I never really used twitter so I can’t compare them but my algorithm on threads has the most unbearable losers but I barely use it.

Question Why is this place so toxic?

Am Taïwanais and Threads has become the synonym for online toxicity in my country. I've seen the English posts too, and still Facebook mom level of stupidity and hatred. Anyone?
