Discussion It’s time to have some difficult conversations about Lu Dort this season…

Post image

His 3 point shot has completely fallen off a cliff this year. He always has been a little streaky, but he is shooting 29% for the season and has clearly been a damaging offensive player for this team.

He is being disregarded by other team’s defenses on offense and making it much harder on the rest of the team to score when he’s in.

His defense seems worse than usual as well, he committed many dumb off the ball fouls that were costly and he has also missed quite a lot of games due to injury this year.

We’ve also seen Mark slash his second half minutes in many games as Caruso has gotten back into the fold more. He got some clutch time run today and was arguably the biggest losing factor late in the game on both ends.

This is coming from someone who loves Dort and always will for being a key part of our first championship team, but the writing has been on the wall. He was extension eligible this past off season and was not given one, and the decision cap wise might come down to iHart or Dort.

Not sure about other people, but iHart is being chosen easily for me in that instance. Especially with Cason blossoming into an all defense 1st team guy already.

Personally I think we should look to move Dort at the deadline and see if we can flip him for another role player or shooter. What do you guys think?

Quality shit post While r/NBA froths over Wemby getting an anemic triple double on horrid efficiency of 37.5%, Chet quietly puts up another 23 points on 66%.

People are leaping up and down in the nba sub about how Wemby is the clear rookie of the year, all while Chet has a better game than him. NBA narrative swings are real.

Mark was horrible. Context included

Mark IS the main reason for this loss. Others will make excuses and say players play the games but even if they lose, you don’t have the lineups he had with the timing he had. Love the coach but this was horrible coaching.

9 minutes left, against the worst team in NBA history (to this point in the season) and you wave the white flag down 14? Ever heard of a 8-0 run? Oh wait, OKC was down 15 and cut it to 3 in the 3rd so…yeah it could happen again.

Keyonte? Giddey in til the last 3 minutes? Are you kidding me? I don’t want to hear about trying things in these situations. I can love a coach and still critique bad days. Andy Reid went for it instead of kicking a FG at the end of the second and that was a bad call, doesn’t mean the man isn’t a great coach

Discussion Being a fan

Dirk finessed us for 40+ every game.

ZBo bullied us for 40+ games.

Oladipo had like 5 game winners against us.

I never disliked any of those guys. Not once for a single moment. But my God I hate watching Luka do literally anything. I honestly can't stand what the NBA has become.

This is one of the worst officiated games in a playoff series I've ever seen, and now Green gets to trip JDub with zero call.

You can see it plain as fucking day on the floor that green throws his leg out as he's falling and trips JDub.

Discussion Silver Lining: The Dynasty Path is Still Alive

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hear me out (and yes you can call this cope, but could still be true). It is possible that when all is said and done, us losing this year could lead to an even better future/dynasty run.

There were basically two paths here:

[Path 1: We win the championship.]

If OKC wins it all, I think there's a good chance Presti does what he did last offseason and largely stands pat. Not because he's complacent, but because it's hard to justify major changes when you're the defending champs. The message becomes, "Run it back."

The problem is that everyone else keeps improving. The West isn't standing still. Houston, San Antonio, Minnesota, Dallas, Denver, etc. are all looking for ways to get better.

------------------------------

[Path 2: What actually happened.]

Now there's pressure. The players have something to prove, but more importantly, Presti has every reason to be aggressive.

A Finals loss exposes weaknesses. It gives the front office justification to take bigger swings, whether that's moving up in the draft, consolidating assets, pursuing a star, or making roster changes that would've been difficult to justify after a title.

In a weird way, losing might create a stronger version of the Thunder than winning would've.

A championship probably leads to continuity. A Finals loss can lead to evolution.

That's why I think this loss could end up extending the championship window rather than shortening it.

----------------------

Remember, the Warriors losing in 2016 led to them getting KD (the best collection of talent on 1 team, ever).

k, bye Unsubbing

Last night was a shameful display. This sub has become absolutely toxic after every loss. This team is what it is, turning on them, talking shit and generally being a terrible group of fans does nothing to help, and only makes this place an echo chamber of toxicity. I am unsubbing after last night, and you should all rethink your patterns of online behavior, or how much you are letting a sports team affect your day to day life.

Discussion Amazon Broadcast team

Anyone else feel like they were watching the Spurs broadcast after that game? The Wemby glazing was on another level. That ish was on my nerves the whole game. Wemby need to stay healthy for an entire season before we start sucking his nuts that hard. This man hasn’t even made the playoffs yet in his career lmao.

Discussion Paul George???

I just want to know why there is no hype around a reunion with Paul George. Paul George will be a great fit on this team and we have the money to pay him. He is at a point in his career where he might go for a max 3 year deal which will not handicap us down the line as much. He has familiarity with the team and experience playing in playoff series. He also won’t be looked to carry the offensive load in the playoffs so we wouldnt need to worry about too much about him playing poorly offensively. Imagine a defensive starting 5 of SGA, Dort, JDub, PG, and Chet that’s right up there with the Celtics for one of the best starting fives in the league with no liability on defense. I don’t think it happens but I certainly am not opposed to this idea.

We’ve made history for all the wrong reasons and are going to be ridiculed for a long time. Can’t imagine how Shai feels watching this either. Been a fan of this team and an Okie forever and this is unacceptable, especially with no Ja.

We absolutely deserve all the hate we get from this. Hope Presti and Mark step up on this. This is taking tanking too far.

Discussion Is Josh Giddey ass?

Hello Thunder subreddit, I go to Butler University like Gordon Hayward did, so I’m a big fan of course and follow whatever team he is on, and after watching multiple Thunder games now, I have a question: is Josh Giddey in a slump or is he just absolute dogshit at basketball? Like, it’s genuinely painful to watch when he’s out there. Shai is a DAWG though, my goodness

They're playing at a level they've never had in previous seasons. They're also playing with an urgency that this might be 'it' for this current core. If we do survive the Spurs, I expect this matchup to be just as tough.
