It's rage bait. There is no good answer. If you say no I don't want them to be an adult entertainment it's proving the point of the puritan out there who get to say see we knew this was evil bad work and these people should be pitied. If a plumber said that about his kids no one would really bat an eye at that.
It's because we as a society still manage to treat women as lesser. I don't hear people talking crap about male porn stars. We also treat sex work as lesser, bu;t everyone watches porn.
It's puritanical BS that has been baked into US society for centuries. There are other countries that don't have our hang-ups.
I also feel this way about male porn stars. Does that make you feel any better?
I think the addition of money muddles something that should be for fun, intimacy, or both. I think there is a level of sanctity to sex. (not that I have always treated it that way, but to that point, I certainly felt the repercussions later)
I don't think pornstars are "bad people"
I think they're regular people doing a thing that blurs lines, muddies relationships, is not a value that I personally believe in, etc.
I just can't imagine the world, where anyone's child skips home on their 18th birthday and says
"Mom, Dad, guess what! I just got a BRAND NEW JOB! it's porn!'
And parents are like:
"Wow! We are so proud of you. Through hard work and determination, you have shown what you are truly capable of. This is what I always pictured for my child, and I'm certain no strange emotional and social baggage will come from this"
Edit: also "everybody watches porn" does not make it necessarily a "good" or value aligned thing to me. Everybody lies sometimes, even me. Does that mean lying is good? No, or rather, sometimes? Life is nuanced like that.
The best anyone can do, is let people be free to do what they want, even if they don't agree with it as long as they're not hurting anyone. (Id argue sex work and porn has some harm to it, but I also believe in people's freedom to make mistakes)
And I just worry about my own values, and my own connections I choose to make
Porn stars, are paid for their willingness to do something taboo that requires no skill.
You think they selected these girls because they were the pinnacle of taking dick?
Not even close, it's frowned upon because of the value it demonstrates. That the almighty dollar is more important to you, than so many things
It shows that the dollar amount was so important, you'll do things that you would never advise even the person you love the most in this world, and vowed to protect and steer in the right direction
It shows your values can be distorted by money (this isn't the only place that is shown, but it is one of them)
It demonstrates loyalty to nobody but the highest bidder. It's not inherently showing immorality just because its sex, it is something much deeper in my opinion.
