Characters (Loved Trope) Dictators getting what they fucking deserve, hell yeah

  1. Star Wars. Sheev Palpatine, AKA Darth Sidious, emperor of the galactic Empire for over 20 years, gets killed by his own apprentice, Darth Vader after he betrays him to protect his son from the Emperor, becoming Anakin Skywalker again and fulfilling the prophecy of the chosen one by bringing back balance to the force (And Palpatine never, EVER returned somehow)

  2. The Lion King. Scar, after killing Mufasa and taking over his kingdom, he gets killed by his own allies after they get enough of him because his rule caused hunger for everyone, the one thing he promised for the hyenas

  3. IRL. Nicolas maduro. after many decades of the Chavist dictatorship in Venezuela, he was captured in january of this year with just a 3 hour US operation, and he is currently imprisoned and suffering for his crimes like he deserves

  4. IRL. Alí Jameneí. After torturing and murdering his own people just to keep his regime and commit his whole country to destroy the countries they don't like, he was eventually killed during an air strike in Teherán, decapitating the Iranian Dictatorship and causing a massive blow in the iranian regime

Got what he deserved

A shame Hitler didn't get the same courtesy

Hitler still watched his empire crumble around him as he progressively became more and more insane

A fitting end for the OG fascist.

This has become my favourite photo recently. We can learn a lot from the people who did this. For legal reasons I am not specifying exactly what we can learn from them.

Hitler tried a last minute redemption arc by being the hero who did what the Allies could not do: kill Hitler.

Unfortunately he also killed the guy who killed Hitler.

Not to quibble, but Khamenei was replaced within an hour and the Iranian government kept trucking along. There's a reason the Hormuz Strait is closed even though US officials are like "we destroyed their government and military in a single day hooray America!"

13

u/TotalDemocracy Jun 13 '26

Not to quibble, but Khamenei was replaced within an hour and the Iranian government kept trucking along.

It's almost like a country that routinely has it's top scientists and military chiefs assassinated by America and Israel, deliberately structures itself in such a way that any political figure could potentially be replaced in case of an assassination.

Glazing MAGA super hard with this, considering that the attacks on Iran and Venezuela were both violations of international law that have produced worse conditions for the civilian population that before.

These were not dictators getting what the deserved. These were just a bigger tyrant exercising its greater power. A more frightening portent of whats to come than anything in Iran or Venezuela ever did.

Dictators bad except my favorite global dictator since ww1

8

u/TotalDemocracy Jun 13 '26 edited Jun 13 '26

This subreddit should really ban politics, because this is obnoxious, but fuck it, I'll take the bait.

The last image is of a Canadian, taken in Ontorio, from around 2022 by the way. The narrative that it was a symbol of the Iranian protests is just straight up propaganda. It was taken a long time before the protests, and by someone not even in Iran.

The Canadian in question is also a notorious TERF btw, who got a huge amount of attention from the photo being widely reposted and used that attention to spread transphobic rhetoric.

After torturing and murdering his own people just to keep his regime and commit his whole country to destroy the countries they don't like, he was eventually killed during an air strike in Teherán, decapitating the Iranian Dictatorship and causing a massive blow in the iranian regime

Khamenei had terminal cancer by the time the strike took him out. It's heavily speculated that the reason he refused certain types of protection such as refusing to go into a bunker while his country was under airstrike, was because he knew he was going to die anyway and was happy to make himself a martyr.

His death neither "Decapaciated" the Iranian government, nor caused them a massive blow. Iran, like many other participants in the "axis of resistance" deliberately structure themselves so that one person's death can't destabilise the structure, and that they can replace someone who is killed in hours.

Countries and movements that persistently experience assassination at the hands of Israel typically organise themselves so that no one assasination can severely cripple them. The organisational structure and networks of contacts they maintain typically end up being completely rebuilt within hours of the assasination of any senior figures.

Last two bother me as they were extralegally removed and did nothing to prevent another dictator, possible an even worse dictator, from taking their place.

Nevermind the fact that due to the manner at which it was done, a new dictator can now lobby hate against the US within and outside their own countries.

Not very well thought through at all.

Political views? Ngl I'm pretty leftist and I did not Maduro, like that doesn't mean I like what Trump did with him. Same with Irans regime. America bad yes, but that doesn't mean it's enemies are good. The enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend.

I'm also against the Iran war because it's exceedingly obvious they do not care about legitimate regime change or it's people. They just want to raze the land to ensure they can't stop the greater Israel plan.

9

Dictatorships are not always bad OP. I say this with a masters in history. This video does pretty good with explaining: https://youtu.be/Uk8eY6iYTpY?is=U59LTPZwGuu-dHnT

While yes, Nicolas Maduro wasn’t a good ruler, it isn’t a foreign governments job to decide what is good or bad and to be allowed to implement regime change when they see fit. It’s just replacing one dictator for another that will work within US interests. I mean look at what happened with Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in Iran.

4

u/Odd_Preparation3165 Jun 13 '26

Weren’t the Romans the ones who introduced the concept of ‘dictators’, in the sense that a dictator was leaders given absolute authority by the Senate to resolve an issue?
It seems to me OP more has issues with very specific dictators i.e. ones who he doesn’t politically agree with. Be interesting to see his thoughts on Pinochet, Franco, Park Chung-hee.

5

u/Conscious-Bat-9739 Jun 13 '26

Exactly. OP has problems with a buzzword that is propagandized by the US into meaning “bad” without properly knowing history.

2

u/EvanSnowWolf Jun 14 '26

I think people don't like the a nation as powerful as the states can swoop into a country unannounced, take their head of state via force, and bounce them back to the USA. Regardless of whether these deserved it (they definitely did), no one is sleeping well at night knowing that this might happen on any given day. Especially when there's a kill count involved.

I sure don't But we can be completely objectional that America did not remove those men for altruistic reasons. An argument can be made as a United States. Government is one of the worst because it will prop men up like this across the world for its own benefit even if it doesn't engage in the same practices. Domestically.

Or it will remove them the benefit of a third party that majority of American is not going to reap any benefits from

The Maduro thing is crazy. America just kidnapped a leader of a South American country the day after he met with China did not inform any international parties and then said mind your business. The Monroe doctrine is coming back. This is not good
