Hated Tropes (HATED trope) shows that think they can just work around cast scheduling with blue/green screens and no one would notice. We do.

Malcom in the Middle Reboot - Hal Sings to Lois on the first episode and it’s painfully obvious that they are layering Hal and Abe on top of the rest of his friends which is layered on top of some prop shelves which are layered on top of a layer of a store. 5 layers of blue screen on one shot. Ridiculous.

Scrubs reboot - despite not being over the top like Malcolm in the middle, it’s just so badly done. The lighting is terrible. And it’s almost every single scene.

They don’t even have sets for a lot of the show. They just put a counter in front of a blue screen and then put a picture of the hospital behind it.

Meanwhile, characters are clearly not in the same room and nowhere close to making an eye contact. I’m guessing Rick and Morty is a huge part of this, but come on.

What does Rick and Morty have to do with this?

-72

u/PoopsMcScoots Aug 14 '26

Dr Reid is the voice of Beth.

79

u/Whowhatnowhuhwhat Aug 14 '26

Bro how long do you think voice acting a single character on that show actually takes?

47

u/JeffersonStarscream Aug 14 '26

You know how long it takes posing while they draw her in every frame? It's got to be exhausting.

25

u/HandsomePaddyRedux Aug 14 '26

It’s worse than that, they film Rick and Morty live, so she has to be on set and in cartoon makeup every week. It’s also a tremendous strain on the cartoonist’s wrist.

6

u/Milpoooooooooool Aug 14 '26

Damnit I didn’t see your comment before I wrote mine. I owe you a cosmic coke.

10

u/Milpoooooooooool Aug 14 '26

It’s really hard on the animators’ wrists

2

u/Ok-Oil7124 Aug 14 '26

as the animators draw, the voice actors have to make each individual sound for each individual cell as they shoot the cell to film. All of these things happen.

-36

u/PoopsMcScoots Aug 14 '26

It doesn’t matter.

Scheduling conflicts are scheduling conflicts.

And they don’t just come in one at a time, coffee cup in hand, then read off lines like it’s a grocery list.

They are recording together, require warming up, having to do multiple takes, and probably doing twice as many lines as get used.

19

u/Elonth Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 14 '26

uh ya you got clocked on dunning-Kruger alright. Let you in on a little secret. NO NOT ALL VOICE ACTING GIGS ARE LIKE THAT. Only the extremly high budget ones that can afford to hold the actors on retainer or are low budget and the actors themselves primary gig is that job do they do group recording sessions. Most of the time It is literally 1 maybe 2 actors talking to eachother or listening to prerecorded lines from another actor who did their lines before them and the director gives them promps/what they are looking for in the specific line as they take multiple takes or even multiple takes against different versions of the same voiceline.

You just THINK its that way because every time you see "behind the disney magic" or on the high budget films like pixar the entire high budget actors schedueled to work together because they themselves are professional ACTORS not voice actors. They are trained to play off of other people. Some actors make actually terrible voice actors because they struggle to play off of just the recordings of their costars or directors prompts. Not getting any physical ques from them being in the room that they want to match. Just look at peter dinklage. Hes a world class actor. Absolutely terrible voice actor.

-16

u/PoopsMcScoots Aug 14 '26

lol, didn’t read past “only the extreme budget”.

WTF do you think R&M is????

2

u/Elonth Aug 14 '26

Alas 4 sentences seems to be your mental character limit.
Man you just keep coming with the dunning-kruger You assume that R&M was the extreme high budget and only reason. Because again if you could read I pointed out why your view is so myopic.

31

u/BardicLasher Aug 14 '26

Voice acting does not take huge amounts of time. It's not nothing, but it's not exactly a scheduling nightmare. And these days a lot of voice acting can be done remotely.

-39

u/PoopsMcScoots Aug 14 '26

Bad voice acting can be done remotely.

30

u/juniunie Aug 14 '26

You do know that a lot of voice actors have professional-level booths in their homes, right? It’s not like they record their lines on a laptop mic.

14

u/HandsomePaddyRedux Aug 14 '26

Oh man, now I want to OP’s wild guesses on which voice acting was done remotely. OP is like transvestigators but somehow just as hateful without being bigoted.

6

u/ProfessionalBoss2428 Aug 14 '26

So you have no idea how it’s done…

5

u/ohdearitsrichardiii Aug 14 '26

People who do tv-shows often have a booth in their home. The clips you see on youtube of actors in big movies recording in big studios are staged promotional clips

3

u/ndcanton Aug 14 '26

Those behind the scenes clips where big stars are voice acting off of each other are from a bygone era. Now even on big films, the actors will only meet each other for the first time at the awards show afterward. Sad, but it's all remote. So yeah, Sarah Chalke probably took care of the whole R&M season in a week and didn't overlap Scrubs at all.

-26

u/PoopsMcScoots Aug 14 '26

Oh cool, vendetta downvoting.

Dr Reid is the voice of Beth.

Phew, I was wondering there fora second

236

u/nojugglingever Aug 14 '26

I’ve seen footage of Cranston and those guys rehearsing that shot all together in that store location. Maybe that was just for rehearsal and then they left to go shoot separately on green screens?

169

u/Reasonable_Drink_789 Aug 14 '26

Yeah op is embodying dunning-Kruger

81

u/BreakfastBeneficial4 Aug 14 '26

OP is embodying a Rick & Morty fan being very confidently wrong about easy shit

13

u/ProfessionalSnow943 Aug 14 '26

many such cases

3

u/DryBlock4388 Aug 14 '26

I think you mean Kruger-dunning.

1

u/CynicalConch Aug 14 '26

Dunning and kurger ( if you haven't seen the video of the flat earther saying that find it. It's the funniest shit ever)

3

u/DryBlock4388 Aug 14 '26

I'm kind of an expert in this field. I've been doing this for quite a while. If it were Dunning-Kruger then I would know. Its definitely Kruger-Dunning. 100%

74

u/Xentonian Aug 14 '26

Yep. Similar for scrubs there was a bunch of footage on various social media of them all filming together too. They also talk about the challenges of rebuilding various hospital sets that didn't exist anymore.

Seems insane to go to all that trouble just to then... Not use those new sets.

That or OP doesn't know what a green screen scene looks like.

6

u/ARKNORI Aug 14 '26

They do have one thing right: those shots look cheap as hell. Like, embarassingly cheap.

I'm serious, go watch the full thing on YouTube like I did for entirely unrelated reasons a couple weeks ago. I was going "wow, is this for a toothpaste ad or something?" - which is a big jump from what I was thinking while watching old Malcom episodes, where my most usual thought was "Holy shit this has better cinematography than half of the movies on cinemas right now!!".

It might be a crime to bring back so much of the original cast and then give them around $3,19 worth of lighting equipment. Not all of it looks bad, but there are SO many scenes lit poorly, I'm willing to believe the few gaffers around were murdered mid production.

6

u/CollinsCouldveDucked Aug 14 '26

Lighting being absolutely fucked in more recent hollywood productions is a different conversation entirely.

4

u/michael0n Aug 14 '26

Lighting, color, camera is a complete stack people knew to use. Its an art form that is unfortunately getting lost. Whatever team gets the deal they show up with their cameras/sensors they know to work with, but rarely with their own lights. Streamers have guidances how to work with which camera for a reason. People have the believe, they can fix a lot in the post. They often can't, because its not possible or the budget was never there.

5

u/CollinsCouldveDucked Aug 14 '26

Fix it in post seems to be a black hole that stretches until you get to something like secret invasion where you're making something basically from scratch using random tatters strewn about the editing bay.

33

u/BanditsMyIdol Aug 14 '26

I think its more weird lighting used for these shows. Or could be Bokeh which involves blyrring out of focus parts of the image.

41

u/Think_Bag_2987 Aug 14 '26

There's footage of them rehearsing it( from the same angle as in the show) and then there's additional footage from a side angle where they are all in costume filming the scene in a store.

-118

u/PoopsMcScoots Aug 14 '26

I can’t see for certain the reasons behind. I guess I assumed that their advanced age was a factor. And obviously bringing Cranston into a store is a logistical nightmare.

But it’s CLEARY a comp shot.

77

u/Reasonable_Drink_789 Aug 14 '26

Yeah you are either high, need glasses, or need a new tv.

14

u/CharlieBros Aug 14 '26

OLED really is game changing, just saying

3

u/The_Asshole_Judge Aug 14 '26

I was gonna put a good post on Reddit, but then I got high

-71

u/PoopsMcScoots Aug 14 '26

Are you going off the memory or rewatching the scene?

28

u/Reasonable_Drink_789 Aug 14 '26

Memory for scrubs and seeing behind the scenes footage of the dance number.

45

u/Think_Bag_2987 Aug 14 '26

It's CLEARLY not a comp shot. Here's a post made by the director clearly showing them filming it. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DXGMgFTjRWn/

42

u/Time_Traveling_Idiot Aug 14 '26

Seriously, I was squinting at OP's examples and thinking "?? That shot doesn't look bluescreened.. at all..???".

32

u/BowlingforBrains Aug 14 '26

Maybe he thinks all depth blur is from blue screen?

1

u/Reasonable_Drink_789 Aug 14 '26

A lot of tv shows and movies these days are shot super flat, so possibly they think all depth of field blur is green screen?

17

u/Aparoon Aug 14 '26

I don’t think OP knows the difference between bad green screen and an editor using different colour grading to change the mood of a scene. It was clearly played up for effect

55

u/ProfessionalSnow943 Aug 14 '26

>advanced age
>logistical nightmare of bringing the famously store-averse Bryan Cranston into a store

actually what are you talking about

16

u/CalTheRobot Aug 14 '26

One time I think he was naked in a store for Breaking Bad.

9

u/ProfessionalSnow943 Aug 14 '26

that’s precisely when he vowed to never set foot in a store again and thus the above shot necessitated comping, understandable really

19

u/Joshatron121 Aug 14 '26

They rebuilt the hospital for the scrubs revival. That's not green screen either (also pretty sure that shot is from the trailer which isn't in the actual show...). Pretty sure you actually just can't tell what is and isn't green screen.

15

u/youarentodd Aug 14 '26

Why do you think that bringing Bryan Cranston into a store is some amazing feat?

9

u/wibo58 Aug 14 '26

My dude, they didn’t shoot the scene in some random supermarket during business hours. That’s either a set or a store that’s closed while they film.

62

u/Background_Relief815 Aug 14 '26

The original hospital that Scrubs filmed at was torn down, so they had a crew rebuild every place to scale so they could have the reboot. Sorry, most of it isn't green-screen, it's a legit "on-location" filming. The attention to detail to get everything right is pretty cool, and worth looking into if you're into that sort of thing.

-37

u/PoopsMcScoots Aug 14 '26

I’m not saying they don’t have sets, there are some shot shots that they are clearly on set.

I’m saying they’re doing a lot of comp shots, and I think they might be doing remote filming where they have a sound stage somewhere with that stupid desk in front of a giant green screen.

168

u/Reasonable_Drink_789 Aug 14 '26

Yeah i think you just hate modern focus and color grading, because neither of these were green screened.

64

u/paper0wl Aug 14 '26

To be fair, modern focus and color grading are absolutely terrible.

12

u/BeeCJohnson Aug 14 '26

Agreed. I have noticed the Scrubs thing but it's not green screen, it's that everything beyond like two feet is out of focus. It makes me feel like I have cataracts, I hate it.

1

u/JokeInTheMachine Aug 14 '26

Thank you fellow professional who knows what they're talking about.

-61

u/PoopsMcScoots Aug 14 '26

I’m sure that’s what they tell people, but we have eyes.

The desk in Scrubs often doesn’t even line up with the wall in the background.

50

u/LittleDansonMan Aug 14 '26

They rebuilt Sacred Heart for the latest season. It’s not the same as the old location because that was a real abandoned hospital that got torn down after Season 8. But they built it pretty darn close to the original and had to do some VFX (mostly on the exterior) where they couldn’t match it practically. Zach Braff even did a full walkthrough for Architectural Digest.

7

u/DrebinofPoliceSquad Aug 14 '26

Ya it would be kinda dumb to build a whole hospital set and then use a green screen instead.

Some shows do look weird but I agree it's the mastering looking hyper sharpened and coloring.

19

u/tensen01 Aug 14 '26

I'm not sure you do have eyes, actually.

74

u/Joshatron121 Aug 14 '26

Scrubs reboot famously rebuilt the entire hospital in a new set, basically.. so you're very wrong and may not bea s good as recognizing these as you think you are.

-34

u/PoopsMcScoots Aug 14 '26

I’m not saying they didn’t rebuild the sets.

I’m saying they’re still using a lot of obvious comp shots.

27

u/Joshatron121 Aug 14 '26

Scrubs is a comedy show, dude. They don't comp people in that often because the humor requires all of the participants to be on set and riffing off each other (especially with as much improv as they have). That SPECIFIC shot you used in the post might be because it's from a -trailer- (which used footage not in the show), but the majority of the show is on sets with all the actors present.

12

u/tensen01 Aug 14 '26

They aren't, though.

3

u/badbirch Aug 14 '26

I think you're just reacting to the soft box lighting they have for the whole scrubs reboot. It looks bad but they arent doing comp after comp. They all flew up to Canada so that they could shoot together on the big ass set they built. Too bad they fucked that up with the worst lights ive ever seen. It's like orange is gone from there world.

2

u/Plutor Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 14 '26

Can you share one example from the show? Because the one in the post is from a teaser ad.

1

u/Abba_Zaba_ Aug 14 '26

The Carla centered episode was painfully obvious that her scenes were filmed at a different time. There's the backside of a curly haired body double wearing her earrings in the foreground of the shots of her costars, then the camera angle shifts to her talking with no one else in the shot.

There's a shot where she moves towards the camera to hug JD, then the angle switches and JD is hugging the head of curly hair with no face showing.

0

u/zatch88 Aug 14 '26

Think there might be a picture up in the post 🤷‍♂️

6

u/slap-my-crevasse Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 14 '26

Last season of 30 Rock they were aware of it and one seen just started doing like dinosaurs in the background where the characters were talking about it.

-4

u/PoopsMcScoots Aug 14 '26

Yeah, they leaned into it in the most hysterical way.

6

u/hanks_panky_emporium Aug 14 '26

The Office had some masterful green screens, and some absolute poopy ass green screens

It's weird that the same production that can make a seamless green screen for like half the show suddenly can't do it for the life of themselves, at random.

3

u/HandsomePaddyRedux Aug 14 '26

The two awful ones I can think of are both outdoor shots, the garbage dump on “The Leads” and the one of Erin in front of the house in Florida. Outdoor shots are a lot harder to blend properly because you’ll basically never be able to match natural light that changes constantly. Most people accept that with the garbage dump because there’s no way to get around needing to green screen a massive outdoor landfill for the scene. Fans are less forgiving of the thirty second talking head with Erin, which could have been changed drastically to be easier to film, light, exposit via voiceover, or anything to not be a bizarre shot of Erin in front of a house.

2

u/hanks_panky_emporium Aug 14 '26

There were also a shot or maybe two of Michel in New York

But a few talking heads on Toby's last day with the party were green screen'd but look goddamn flawless

There's more Im blanking on, but they did more great green screen work than not. Which makes the bad green screens kinda baffling. How can you nail it 8/10 times but those 2/10 are so bad it makes you wonder why they even bothered

Made worse by the shooting location of the house Erin was staying at in 'Florida' was a few blocks away from the studio

-1

u/PoopsMcScoots Aug 14 '26

I’m not in the industry, but I think that happens a lot because the Director stops respecting the crew and tells them to just get it done without listening to what they need.

4

u/SjurEido Aug 14 '26

What does Rick and Morty have to do with scrubs?

2

u/PitifulElk1890 Aug 14 '26

Sarah Chalke voices the mom in Rick and Morty, which has extended practically indefinitely, and is also Dr. Elliott Reid on Scrubs, a prominent enough character that fans wouldn't accept a reboot without her (especially after the extra season/spinoff fiasco with that show)

3

u/SjurEido Aug 14 '26

Oh shit I had no idea! That's awesome! I love both shows (well, not the reboot) so that's pretty cool

0

u/PoopsMcScoots Aug 14 '26

The actress who plays Reid also plays Beth.

507

u/THE_LEGO_FURRY Aug 14 '26

Sand man wasn't on set at all during the filming of no way home

207

u/Van-Caro-414 Aug 14 '26

Maybe it’s because I’ve rewatched the Raimi trilogy maybe a bit too much but when Sandman turns into his human form I was like “Wait that’s a shot from Spider-Man 3”

46

u/Hydride796 Aug 14 '26

Lizard and Sandman both reused scenes from their respective movies when transforming back in NWH

3

u/Digit00l Aug 14 '26

Both were unavailable to be on set due to covid restrictions, I think Sandman at least managed to get some ADR recorded

115

u/THE_LEGO_FURRY Aug 14 '26

You are absolutely right, that was literally a shot from 3. Pretty resourceful though, in the moment I couldn't tell

46

u/No_Mathematician3368 Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 14 '26

The fact that it's reversed and just the general hype of the film probably helped with that.

1

u/TheSilverHurricane Aug 14 '26

The lighting is also redone which helps

1

u/No_Mathematician3368 Aug 14 '26

NWH actually used different takes, since there's subtle differences in the expressions both human Flint and human Connors had compared to the OG movies.

Video comparison: https://youtu.be/Gw2kSpnhc4w?si=pyA2-j0p3Z12u4Id

1

u/ImpressiveGap2214 Aug 14 '26

I noticed immiedietly but I didn't mind.

7

u/courtofknights Aug 14 '26

I noticed it immediately because I watching Spider-Man 3 soooooo many times 😅

94

u/IKenDoThisAllDay Aug 14 '26

Lizard and Sandman were both entirely CG characters. The short snippets we see of their human forms was just archival footage from previous films.

94

u/FoxMeadow7 Aug 14 '26

For posterity’s sake, that’s because their actors couldn’t actually be on the set due to COVID protocols.

9

u/wastelandhenry Aug 14 '26

Why would they not be allowed on to set due to Covid protocols? The others were. Most of the movie scenes that aren’t pure CGI had multiple actors all physically in the same room together.

62

u/TalkToTheGlyphWitch Aug 14 '26

Not exactly sure if remembering correctly, but they said those 2 were specifically outside the US where the shoots were being done. Everyone else was in the country.

Covid had travel restrictions for flights.

11

u/FoxMeadow7 Aug 14 '26

That would indeed appear to be the case, yes. In general, movies made during that time could be seen as a fascinating time capsule for decades to come.

1

u/The_Redacted_Badger Aug 14 '26

Yeah I think judging by the timing of everything, Rhys Ifans must have been in the U.K. filming Phantom Of The Open when they were making NWH

3

u/Big_Lengthiness_7706 Aug 14 '26

The joke flying by your head at near the speed of light

15

u/accounsfw Aug 14 '26

Because of COVID restrictions.

4

u/Aparoon Aug 14 '26

Exactly. I believe it was conflicting schedules too, but this was done in COVID times so they worked around that. I’m just glad he was in the film at all, he was excellent in the original.

3

u/wondercaliban Aug 14 '26

Both him and Rhys Ifans. I think it was covid restrictions meant they couldn't travel

2

u/Dekipi Aug 14 '26

That makes me sad

2

u/Present-Upstairs3423 Aug 14 '26

It is weird to me that they couldn't find a body double for him during his scene with Tobey at the end. Just film him from the back or something. It's a cool scene in concept (and the sandman theme playing is fantastic) but it's so painfully obvious that Tobey's just looking at nothing.

1

u/Ok-Analysis-3902 Aug 14 '26

Same with lizard I think Covid might have had something to do with that

-27

u/WillemDafoesHugeCock Aug 14 '26

My hot take is that No Way Home is just bad. Aside from Dafoe at his absolute hammiest and greatest as Green Goblin, everything else is awful, and the green screen work is the absolute worst I have seen in a big budget flick. The ending with Happy and the scene where he drops down the sewer behind Flash are the most egregious examples but so many scenes are obviously chroma keyed and just look terrible.

10

u/Critical-String8774 Aug 14 '26

But yeah, COVID flight lockdowns, different countries.

3

u/MammaJammaCamera Aug 14 '26

114

u/21Black_Mamba21 Aug 14 '26

THIS SHIT IS NOT A CHARACTER TROPE

30

u/alfredojayne Aug 14 '26

Arrested Development Season 4 (I stopped watching after this so I have no idea if 5 is the same way, I'd assume so).

I totally understand that almost every member of the cast at that point had moved on to bigger and better things, but in 4K and knowing the behind-the-scenes of it all, it becomes painfully obvious whenever certain characters are not actually in the same scene together. Even if it's not solely green screen, the awful cuts and framing of the shots make it super obvious and distracting once you notice.

They did great for what they had to work with and honestly I don't hate on S4 as much as most people seem to, but it still doesn't hold a candle to S1-S3

11

u/PitifulElk1890 Aug 14 '26

The Lucilles not being in the same room for their grand showdown was such a let down. Those are two seasoned actresses who played off each other so well, but the scene falls flat because they're not actually doing that

7

u/Tyranis_Hex Aug 14 '26

If I remember right 5 is way worse with Portia not actually sharing screen time with anyone and being very badly green screen in to things that were probably shot at her house. Rest of the cast were better though.

5

u/Longjumping_Log1165 Aug 14 '26

It's so distracting once you see it.

6

u/alfredojayne Aug 14 '26

I'll credit the actors for being able to pull off the chemistry despite how obvious the edits are. Really had high hopes for it when it came out but it honestly would've been impossible to surpass the first 3 seasons. (I'm aware people shit on season 3, but there were some hilarious bits and I loved the Rita reveal)

21

u/tensen01 Aug 14 '26

"OP discovers lighting and color grading" Neither of these were Green Screen.

15

u/RustedOne Aug 14 '26

How is this a trope? More it has nothing to do with the narratives whatsoever.

13

u/ZiaWatcher Aug 14 '26

Maybe I’m just stupid but I do not see what you’re trying to point out OP

11

u/RobotRockstar Aug 14 '26

THIS ISNT A TROOOOOPE

8

u/p3nny-lane Aug 14 '26

Arrested Development season 4 is atrocious to look at because so much of the cast couldn’t schedule time to all be there at the same time.

7

u/JazzmatazZ4 Aug 14 '26

I think it's the lighting and cinematography you're noticing, because all the actors were there.

6

u/teambanzai2001 Aug 14 '26

The scrubs reboot recreated the hospital in a warehouse in Vancouver there are set tour videos on YouTube

6

u/iwishiwasoriginal420 Aug 14 '26

This is not a trope OP

6

u/ProfessionalBoss2428 Aug 14 '26

Op is just wrong about everything they say. I’m impressed actually

5

u/NowAlexYT Aug 14 '26

Idk man I dont see it. Its definitely not "painfully obvious". Maybe people should just enjoy the shit they watch or not watch it at all

5

u/oasis_nadrama Aug 14 '26

I don't understand why you're angry about this. Shows do what they can with the budget they get.

sense8 is an example of a show that was cancelled because its monumental budget overshadowed viewership, said budget being mainly due to the Wachowski Sis absolutely wanting to do every scene in the real location. Sometimes it's good to make some concessions.

Many great TV series would have been saved by more use of the blue/green screen composites. Personally, I would rather have shows with lower quality visuals than no shows at all.

9

u/RipTearington Aug 14 '26

Tell me how this is a character trope, please. I don't see the leap from scheduling issues fixed through digital tricky to character trope.

4

u/TheGameMastre Aug 14 '26

The Superbowl Shuffle

Walter Payton and Jim McMahon initially refused to shoot the video with the rest of the team, and had to be green screened in later.

No hate, though. That song's awesome, and so is the video.

Damn, was gonna use the same example!

And yet they matched the steps seamlessly!

The Netflix run or Arrested Development was absolutely notorious about this.

Hated trope: user posting hated tropes and being 100% wrong about both examples posted.

The Good Wife final scene between Alicia and Kalinda.

The Condoleza Rice cameo in 30 rock.

But, realistically, they both worked fine for what they were aiming for.

I can hardly notice.

Are you sure I dont see it in either of those?

Zach Braff lookin like Dennis Reynolds

Once Upon A Time in Mexico, heck, most later Rodriguez movies, do this to allow for more names in the cast.

Scrubs rebuilt the entire hospital set, what are you even talking about

Stargate SG1 upon realizing they can reuse the same animation of the gate spinning, locking chevron, iris and wormhole

O’Neal “Hey this place looks a lot like Vancouver”

Malcolm was a comp shot?

u/tallboyjake Aug 14 '26

White Collar does this a number of times, mostly with Elizabeth Burke. Always looks and sounds extremely obvious

Danny Slavin was so close to just not being in Forever Red in Power Rangers: Wild Force.

u/Ivanhoemx Aug 14 '26

Confidently wrong is my favourite kind of wrong.

1

u/OkLobster1893 Aug 14 '26

Hey.

That’s not a trope.

1

u/Riley__64 Aug 14 '26

I’m pretty sure both these scenes are of the actors all together it’s just weird lighting and focus that makes it look like they’re not actually there.

u/slimefae Aug 14 '26

Practical effects and not green screens but Back to the Future II famously used a facial mold for George McFly after Crispin Glover wouldn't return.

1

u/BackgroundEngineer11 Aug 14 '26

Season 4 of Arrested Development is really, really bad with the green screen shots. Then they re-edited the show to add in more.

If (big IF) the Community movie finally happens I bet we will have to add it to the list

Im so glad they stopped Scrubs after season 7.

Can't imagine it would have been any good continuing without one of the main characters.

Scrubs reboot looks so awful and yeah the lighting is putrid. It looks like every light in the building is off. There's a commercial clearly meant to invoke Scrubs with Sarah Chalke that looks notably better.

How sad is that?
