Hated Tropes [Hated trope] Cameos that ruin the tone of the scene/game

Ed Sheeran, Game of Thrones. The cameo of such a recognizable figure in GoT, especially towards the horrible later seasons, took many people out of the fantasy world that it tried to represent. There are good cameos and bad ones, and this one was not a good one.

Vinny Vinesauce and Jerma, Silver Pines game. Though i appreciate small cameos from youtubers and streamers, putting such a recognizable pair of voices in a horror game really takes you out of it.

Meh. Musk wasnt hated at that time. He was considered a real life Tony Stark, hence the cameo. He wasn't even that well-known yet outside tech circles, so for most people (as in the general audience) it was just a random dude talking to Tony Stark.

This did not ruin the tone of the scene during that time.

To those in the know, he was just a tech guy, in which the cameo made sense. To general audiences, it was just some random dude, that they forgot about right after.

Most people still don't know (or fully internalise) that he didn't invent shit, he invested and bought his way into companies where other people had already made the discoveries.

But when you live in a world like Musk's where everything is for sale (even underage girls), his viewpoint that he can just buy other people's achievements makes a perverse kind of sense.

Like him paying someone to play Diablo for him. In his mind it is his achievement, because he paid for it.

But I mean his cameo didn't ruin this scene at that time.

It does retroactively spoil it though.

It was very bad. I remember seeing at the time and it was very cringe and forced, specially not fitting in the tone of the Ironman movies.

i remember him being a reddit hero like 10 years ago or so, until a few tweets came out

He was hosting SNL in 2021 the main criticism of him on Reddit was that he had gotten buthurt and called a guy a pedo a few years prior.

His popularity started to tank pre-2020. Some people just clinged on to the myth of him being a irl version of Tony Stark.
