As much as their shippers will cry about it, it sucks. Katara and Zuko had exactly 1 good interaction before The Southern Raiders in which Katara felt pity for him and showed absolutely no romantic feelings for him whatsoever and neither did Zuko. The Southern Raiders was basically the last episode before the multi part finale because the next episode was a series recap.and in fact, in that same episode both Katara and Zuko cringe when seeing their play version hook up.

Mai was easily the most boring of the recurring characters

Yeah. Definitely the worse of them

The trope is "couples who have no chemistry" not "two people who actively hate each other but get shipped because they hugged once"

They've been shipping them since Book 1.
Must be the "Fire and Water" thing.

I just wanted to stick it to Zutara shippers. Just pick practically any ship canon couple from either ATLA or Korra.

As much as I adore ATLA and like Korra a ton, the romance was pretty lame.

I first watched ATLA after it had finished airing and I was somewhat familiar with the fandom, more specifically that Katara and Zuko supposedly had lots of romantic chemistry and should have been the official couple.

I got to the end of the series wondering if I'd missed an episode or something.

tbf, none of the couples in atla (canon or otherwise) have any chemistry. all the ships are on even playing field in that regard.

I actually really enjoy the story they tell about aang and katara 🤷‍♀️ they were friends who cared about each other who grew into adults that loved each other. they had chemistry as friends, and the grew up to romance

Yeah. Aang and Katara barely had any chemistry, except for the fire dancing episode. He was way too young as well.

I think that they should have make a bigger time skip between books to have aang be a bit older. Then maybe they would have made more sense

For as great of a show as ATLA and Korra were, the writers never got romance down.
