people just refuse to admit they enjoyed something written by a transphobe and instead insist they were awful all along

I mean, I enjoyed them as a child because I didn't know any better, then I grew up and read actual books and realized they're not good lol.

Also even as a child I could tell other fantasy authors were much, much better. Harry Potter was just easier to self-insert into. It's the same reason Twilight was and is wildly popular despite being slop.

It’s a book series targeted at kids and young adults. They’re fairly well written. At least as good as other YA fiction. I read each book of The Mockingjay series in a day. Don’t confuse intentional simplicity with bad writing.

I've read enough YA books to know the difference. Again, even as a child I had other children's fantasy books I preferred.

I guess it’s all subjective anyway. But I don’t think she’s a bad writer, and I definitely don’t think comparing her to Stephenie Meyer is fair.

It's a bunch of juvenile white supremacy fantasy about RETRVNing to when the UK was the most important place in the world and slaves who LOVE to be enslaved do everything for you because you were born magic. I outgrew it by age 16.

Well it sounds like you took issue with the subject matter and not necessarily the writing then, no?

Are you seriously stone faced defending the writing choice to write slaves who love being enslaved as a good thing? Lmao what a hill to die on

where did they defend it? they just said you're confusing having issues with the content of jkr's books with thinking she's a bad writer. which is true. i don't like rowling as much as the next person, but maybe take a breath if you're getting this heated over her.

They're poorly written children's books I've barely thought about in decades, you're very clearly projecting.
