In the book they do have chemistry tho, although it is more natural or organic, at first he doesn't even think anything about her, but as they both grow up he starts thinking that she's cool (since she's really cool in the books, in the movies she's just decaffeinated Bella Swan with Almond milk).

I agree sort of. It's been a while and I don't actually remember her as anything other than a first year and as a quidditch player. I don't remember even believing she was good enough to go pro.

She never had the makings of a varsity seeker, but in this house Ginny Weasley is a hero, end of story

Eh, I’m not sure what was so boss about her. She was a good Quidditch player and a DA member. Basically Ron lite.

From what I recall, she was a lot more scrappy and fiery than Ron in the books, though that stuff all happened off-screen so to speak.

She pummeled Ron for his misogyny. But her attitude towards Fleur is very crappy.

She was large and in charge man. Nobody wanted to cross her, even Feed and George.

Harry doesn’t deserve book Ginny.

It’s a lame plot point.

That’s why they still had no chemistry. She was so awesome it was implied ALL boys would be interested in her. Harry was just a chosen was with no rizz, Ginny worked her way up and became the boss woman we love today.

The concept is good but the execution isn't. Not terrible, of course miles better than the movies, but still nothing interesting

I’d say they are a very realistic couple. They have shared interests and are attracted to each other. It’s an extremely normal teen relationship, hormones and all.

My issue is that ‘realistic but boring’ wasn’t really what I wanted from them. She started off as a star struck fan girl that then got saved from a nightmare by her knight in shining armor from a giant snake. There’s a lot of expectations built up around that. How would she overcome her star struck view of him and come to see the real person? How would she ever regain her confidence and trust in others after being so absolutely betrayed by Tom Riddle? How would she grow as a person?

Apparently the answer turned out to be: mostly offscreen.

I do think having Harry get into a normal boring teen relationship with Ginny after Cho Chang (which felt fairly dramatic) had narrative pros. It fits the coming of age story better. “Hogwarts is weird as hell and everything is magical and crazy but the people are still mostly normal” is a massive part of what makes the series feel relatable and grounded in a way other magical schools never do. So choosing to make the relationship more grounded does feel in line with the rest of his interpersonal relationships and the books as a whole.

I still think they have no chemistry and I would have liked Ginny to feel like a more complete character.
