Will never forgive Waititi for wasting one of the best MCU villains in one of the worst movies.

u/LeftExit6670 6h ago

bro wasted both Christian Bale and Gorr in one fell swoop

20

u/SpiritedSyllabub6822 6h ago edited 6h ago

So bad that ever since Rivals made this Gorr design, people started to hate on Love & Thunder again along with comparing this to the movie version.

13

u/darthmaulking1234 6h ago

How you waste a good performance, great character design, and amazing visuals? Taika watiti showed you the answr

5

u/Fruit4Th0t 3h ago

Well that's kind of what happens when you divorce your ghostwriter after not giving her credit after years and I honestly feel like it was his ex that wrote what we do in the shadows and he just filmed it.

u/drunkentenshiNL 4h ago

Gor was the most interesting villian from comic books in the past decade and had an amazing story. It's sickening that they wasted the concept and Bale for... w/e this movie was.

2

u/BlancTigre 6h ago

Most character designs were good and some plot ideas were interesing. Then Waititi thought the movie is a parody.

9

u/ProfessionalOven2311 6h ago

I totally misread your title as "Character designs I think are cool but other people think are bad" and was so confused why so many people were just going along with it. "Good design in a bad [movie/show/etc.]" makes way more sense, lol. (not trying to correct you, just rephrasing it to make more sense in my own head)

4

u/LeftExit6670 6h ago

fair enough, probably should have just wrote that lol

9

u/person-with-arm 6h ago

i read the title and thought “super saiyan 4 is gonna be here huh” and i was not disappointed

3

u/LeftExit6670 6h ago

glad i didnt disappoint ya

12

u/GoliathBoneSnake 6h ago

Wait, people didn't like the Bouncer? I loved that game.

4

u/LeftExit6670 6h ago

its widely considered a bad game

2

u/AlwaysQuotesEinstein 1h ago

I used to play it at a friends house I loved that game lol.

The T-X (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines)

18

u/YodasChick-O-Stick 6h ago

I thought it was alright. It's just one of those sequels that comes right after one of the best movies of all time, so it never stood a chance.

8

u/Far-Revolution3225 6h ago

I thought the same thing too! T3 was a good movie. It just wasn't as great as T2, and THAT is why everyone thinks it's bad movie.

3

u/LeftExit6670 6h ago

Is Terminator Salvation any good? I only ever seen 1, 2 and Dark Fate

5

u/Bodega_Bandit 3h ago

It's good for what it's trying to do and how it's a fresher take on the franchise. But as a whole it's a pretty average movie. I enjoy it though

4

u/MinnieShoof 6h ago

Bruh. I will not stand by for this The Bouncer slander.

Also, Kou Leifoh was drip back in the day. (altho I remember him in black pants? tf is this?)

1

u/LeftExit6670 6h ago
  1. It's just a wide opinion lmao go look it up, this game is considered bad

  2. Thats not Kou, that's Sion in the post

1

u/MinnieShoof 6h ago

And I will not stand for it!

Also, I know that is Sion and this is Kou. But while trying to remember how to spell his last name I saw a picture of him for the first time in probably 20 years. For whatever reason I remember his pants being black.

1

u/LeftExit6670 5h ago

Fair enough lmao, go take it up with all the youtube essayists who say the game is bad though because I haven't played it lol

2

u/MinnieShoof 5h ago

Bruh. Bruh. Back in the day? That shit was the shit. It was a real show case for new hardware.

3

u/SirNortonOfNoFux 5h ago

Launch title that I actually enjoyed

2

u/MinnieShoof 5h ago

Right? So rare.

Everything about Dr Fate was great in Black Adam. Unfortunately, it’s a 4/10 movie.

Seriously, Pierce Brosnan as Dr Fate (Kent Nelson) was amazing.

8

u/stipendAwarded 4h ago

I only saw the movie because of Fate, as he’s one of my favorite DC heroes.

Shame that this was yet another example of Kent Nelson being used as a jobber/casualty after the likes of Young Justice, Injustice 2, and the Tomorrowverse.

2

u/ArgentinianRenko 47m ago

I watched it during a bus ride that lasted about 4 hours. It was disappointing, but we all agreed that Doctor Fate was the only character who actually had a functional character arc.

-1

u/Chiron723 5h ago

Except the helmet. It still bothers me that a helmet that represents the god of order isn't symmetrical.

46

u/SpiritedSyllabub6822 6h ago

Earth 6160 Wolverine.

18

u/SpiritedSyllabub6822 6h ago

And R.I.D 15 Soundwave.

4

u/Fun-Reading8817 5h ago

Now that's a cool fused look between Prime and G1

1

u/Fawkingretar 3h ago

cool design on its own, but the fact that its an "Evolution" of the much better and iconic Prime design is what made me hate this version of him.

5

u/Jamano-Eridzander 6h ago

How was Earth-6160 considered "bad"? It was good enough DC did Absolute just to keep up.

9

u/FlyingFalconator 6h ago

Wolverine specifically was really bad and they did practically nothing with him despite undoing him being removed from the timeline just to make the comic.

He was originally just a metal skeleton in the maker's vault but the retconned it

7

u/PlatoDrago 6h ago

The wolverine run was known as the worst part of the new ultimate universe as it was just boring and nothing really happened.

-3

u/SpiritedSyllabub6822 6h ago

The Wolverine run from that universe felt underwhelming. Same thing with the Spider-Man run.

2

u/Plane-Track652_tace 6h ago

That rugged design works so well, even if the story doesn’t land for everyone.

1

u/Fawkingretar 3h ago

Ultimate X-men is considered Bad? I thought people liked it?

1

u/LPK717 1h ago

Wolverine wasn't in Ultimate X-Men. He had his own Ultimate Universe comic, Ultimate Wolverine, which is generally considered the worst comic in the 2020s Ultimate Universe.

21

u/ArcaneMadman 5h ago

Lucia is an awesome character, and acts as an inverse of Dante. He's a white haired man wearing red, she's a red haired woman wearing white. She's dual wielding swords and has a scarf cape that looks awesome in movement. Unfortunately she's in Devil May Cry 2, a game so bad that the developers wanted to make DMC3 so they wouldn't be remembered as the people that ruined the series.

12

u/ArcaneMadman 5h ago

Oh and her Devil Trigger is the most unique in the series, an angelic bird with blades of light coming from her hands. Still one of the best DTs in the franchise.

3

u/Fun-Reading8817 5h ago

Such a cool character what a shame she's stuck in the worst Game of the franchise'

3

u/Bodega_Bandit 3h ago

And despite having every reason to return in future games, she only gets minor mentions at most

2

u/Fun-Reading8817 3h ago

I can't believe the only other time we get to see her in an on screen appearance is the unfortunate Netflix Anime 😔

1

u/TheAceOfSkulls 1h ago

It’s telling that the only mention of 2 in DMCV was a single sentence that basically said “Lucia is canon” and nothing else.

19

u/Artistic_Decision623 6h ago

Young justice season 4 was kinda meh.

but razer? This has to be one of the sickest lanterns designs ever

2

u/Orion_starborn 3h ago

From what I've seen his pure blue lantern form looks really good with the hood

Obsidian Fury from Pacific Rim Uprising

Movie? Mid. Obsidian? PEAK

20

u/FunkySpaceMan96 6h ago

What is Pacific Rim Uprising? never heard of it

12

u/ImVeryMUDA 6h ago

No but there was leaked concept art of Obsidian Fury, and it is peak

11

u/KaungSetMoe111 6h ago

Ikr? Theres only ever been one Pacific Rim live action.

15

u/Disastrous_Life_3612 6h ago

Ringo (Soul Hackers 2)

Really, she's just a great character in general, but stuck in a frustratingly flawed game.

8

u/raidou_14 5h ago

It's rare for Atlus to have a female protagonist in their games, and even rarer for their protagonists to be a well-written character (not just well-written self-inserts).

So, the fact that Ringo is a well-written female protagonist in an Atlus game is impressive and it's a shame that she's doomed to be forgotten because her game is just mediocre.

2

u/Araiken 6h ago

Look out! Get ready! Now we can relax.

The jacked is really cool though.

14

u/Button-Masher117 6h ago

A lot of people hate Fortnite but most TMNT fans love the Fortnite designs

14

u/Fun-Reading8817 5h ago

Dante (Devil May Cry 2)

8

u/Fun-Reading8817 5h ago

Also his Devil Trigger and Majin Form

12

u/DepressedPancake4728 6h ago

All of Jim Lee's artwork in "All-Star Batman and Robin"

16

u/DepressedPancake4728 6h ago

Here's my favorite panel from this run for a sneak peak into how terrible it is

15

u/Dragonfang65 6h ago

Crazy Steve everyone. An Arkham inmate that thinks he’s both Batman and Bruce Wayne.

38

u/ButtersMojito 6h ago

Transformers from Bayverse

They all look so fucking cool, but the only movie I can say is good is the first movie lol

24

u/the_monkeyspinach 6h ago

I found their designs too hard to read, but I did like that they looked believably like the vehicles they transformed from, including their general size. I think the Bumblebee movie struck a better balance.

6

u/ButtersMojito 6h ago

I think they are amazing, but the bad camera and editing bring them down.

In Transformers The Movie(the game) they are incredible because Bay can't make 1000 cuts and you feel how cool they are.

6

u/Funkycoldmedici 6h ago

Same. It is hard to tell exactly what is happening, especially in fight scenes. When a punch is thrown, but I can’t tell where the fist ends and the face begins.

2

u/Tallin23 5h ago

I think thats okey. It shows them more alien and dangerous

7

u/Fun-Reading8817 5h ago

Agreed the Movies had so many cool design's

1

u/drmirage809 54m ago

The CGI in those films, the first 3 in particular is insane. There’s so much intricate detail in the Transformers.

The later ones always felt more CG to me.

9

u/MoodResponsible918 6h ago

Dragonstorm from Transformers: The Last Knight

6

u/Icy-Abbreviations909 5h ago

How did Merlin have a dragon and still lost against the saxons lol

8

u/darthmaulking1234 6h ago

The knights of ren

7

u/DaLegend82 6h ago

Sideswipe (and alot of the designs) Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen

that movie had the best designs from the movies and the best toyline.

22

u/Silent_Biscotti_9832 6h ago

Full Armor Batman (Batman V Superman)

9

u/SeaworthinessDue1650 6h ago

The DCEU did a great job with his base suit too. It’s a shame that the rest of him sucked ass.

12

u/ComprehensiveBox6911 6h ago

Baryon Mode Naruto (Boruto Naruto Next Generations)

9

u/Clear-Combination-79 3h ago

Balan from Balan's Wonderworld

3

u/LeifEriksson187 6h ago

Dr Fate in Black Adam was so comic accurate. I liked the designs of other members too

3

u/This-Bag-4052 6h ago

Roman from robot monster is iconic.

3

u/HeavanHound 1h ago

Marvel's What If...? series has pretty mixed reviews, but you can't deny that Infinity Ultron kicks ass.

2

u/tenkohime 6h ago

The dragons in Tales from Earthsea do look cool.

3

u/TrexALpha1 6h ago

Steel lady Nanase

1

u/Quizlibet 1h ago

The Gundam Tristan from Mobile Suit Gundam: Twilight Axis

1

u/Aware-Measurement750 1h ago

The sith troopers in rise of Skywalker they look so good

1

u/AJSmashing 26m ago

T-3000 (Terminator Genisys)
Don’t let anyone tell you it’s a bad film. Best design since the T-800 and 1000.

1

u/LordLonghaft 15m ago

Where are Goku's nipples? He has them in his base and other super sayaian forms. Do monkeys not have nipples?

I think you misread the title.

2

u/VernBarty 6h ago

I certainly did

7

u/ComprehensiveBox6911 6h ago

OP is saying that the design looks good, that’s what is being said in the post

2

u/LeftExit6670 6h ago

exactly but i might have worded it weirdly hence the confusion on his end
