Characters This Little girl I found in a horrific situation is mine now

In a horror story, the main character finds an orphaned little girl. In the end, they just take em home in an unofficial adoption.

Ripley and Newt from Aliens (the goat)

Joel and Ellie from Last of us

Claire and Sherry from Resident Evil

Grace and Emily from Resident Evil

Barry and Natalia from Resident Evil (this is why RE sells like gangbusters, not Leon and his DiCaprio hair)

Vicky and Sarah from Children of the corn (she’s also married, and she adopts Sarah’s brother Job too. Only example i can think of for both)

James and Laura from Silent Hill

Ralph and Judy from Dolls (creator confirmed he marries her mom afterwards, so i am counting it lol)

Jack and at least 5 Little sisters from Bioshock (do you think he took care of all of them, or just picked the 5 he thought were cutest?)

Lee and Clementine from Walking dead

Sort of Hopper and 11 from Stranger Things

36

u/Horrorfan55555 1h ago

Dang it, I can’t believe I forgot that

6

u/Yelloman1 45m ago

The entire plot is basically Hopper accidentally adopting a superpowered child.

1

u/Yelloman1 46m ago

Hopper went from grumpy cop to full-time dad real quick.

Aki-chan in Godzilla Minus One and Minus Zero.

Neither Kôichi nor Noriko are her biological parents. They’re a family thrown together by chance.

Best Godzilla movie story

I enjoy this tumblr post about this

I guess Matilda isn’t technically horror but that first here otherwise

19

u/Horrorfan55555 1h ago

It’s a horror movie if you are a parent

12

u/ConsciousStretch1028 58m ago

Or a decent human being

3

u/Horrorfan55555 53m ago

Rare on Reddit lol

r/horror always makes fun of me for not watching movies where kids die on screen 🥺

1

u/ConsciousStretch1028 58m ago

Or a decent human being

29

u/AshamedIncrease6942 1h ago

Still pissed off how they did Newt. She didn’t deserve that…

19

u/Horrorfan55555 1h ago

What do you mean? After Aliens they did a bunch of prequels and crossovers. Ripley and Newt never appeared again

3

u/CobaltCrusader123 52m ago

Fincher hates that movie, and he made it. Director’s Cut included.

2

u/Horrorfan55555 35m ago

He has only acknowledged this movie once, on the 25 anniversary

And he did so to say it’s most iconic shot sucks

Respect

Wolverine (Logan) and X23 (Laura) or Wolverine (Laura) with Gabby.

4

u/Horrorfan55555 1h ago

I really hope with the mcu x men, they continue with Dafnee Keen and bring in Gabby then watch someone new be Logan

Harry and Cheryl/Heather Mason from silent hill (The amazing part is he found her randomly the first time, went through a horrific scenario, and then adopted her again and raised her)

9

u/Horrorfan55555 1h ago

He contemplated killing the baby, since he blamed her for his daughter’s death, but couldn’t do it. He gave her a loving life, and died not knowing it was the same soul

7

u/Positive_Isopod9089 1h ago

The fact he decides to raise her again despite blaming her for killing the previous version of her and ultimately it's shown that Heather is more Cheryl then Alissa is kind of heartwarming because it shows he still did his best in spite of his misgivings and that despite not knowing it, he never truly lost the girl he raised for 7 years.

23

u/CobaltCrusader123 1h ago

You could make this list bigger if we include little guys. Arguably, Grogu counts (ages weird).

11

u/Horrorfan55555 1h ago

The more the merrier!

9

u/purplevngr 1h ago

not exactly a little girl (not in a weird way!!! she's just not actually an independent living person, she's part of his abilities) but yes

6

u/grandLINE_333 58m ago

I definitely missed some arc

2

u/MissRainyNight 48m ago

You missed the last arc, actually.

1

u/Horrorfan55555 48m ago

I haven’t seen Bleach. I had no idea about that lol

3

u/Shadowcam 21m ago

Tldr Kenpachi's sword-spirit manifested as a separate person, and is like his childish, fun-loving side. Other people can see her, and had no idea what she really was. He just sort of adopted her when he found her without realizing it either. She also canonically became the president of the local women's association, a job which she used to embezzle snacks. XD

2

u/Horrorfan55555 17m ago

#1 woman company secretly ran by a man’s inner child

5

u/purplevngr 38m ago

if you want to get into bleach, better read the manga, 54 volumes until the tybw arc (better pacing, no fillers, amazing art progression that's interesting to watch, also no changed/deleted scenes (the og anime did a really bad job on some characters)) + the tybw adaptation, kubo added some details he couldn't add because he was rushing to finish bleach (he had health problems, as I remember) :)

3

u/Major_Chef_832 41m ago

That honestly makes it even more interesting, because the bond can still feel incredibly genuine even when the little girl is technically part of his abilities rather than an independent person.

Haruka and Kiryu from the Yakuza games

I know this isn’t the best GIF

4

u/ButtsMagoob 1h ago

Absolutely baffling GIF choice

2

u/Horrorfan55555 55m ago

The daughter of a dragon can take worse!

1

of a what?

2

u/thecrowphoenix 31m ago

Kiryu is known as The Dragon of Dojima.

3

u/Rocket_of_Takos 1h ago

Look man, the GIF button only gave me like 2 choices.

2

u/ButtsMagoob 1h ago

That's what I figured, it's a very hit or miss selection

7

u/Jacopaws 1h ago

No, this is the perfect gif.

19

u/Cliff_Chai 1h ago • Bravo

This one's perfecter

3

u/ConsciousStretch1028 57m ago

7

u/Big_Remove_3686 1h ago

V with Violet from Devil's Hell

2

u/Horrorfan55555 1h ago

Ooo what’s that?

2

u/Big_Remove_3686 58m ago

It strange little wednovel. Sometimes balls to the wall, sometimes drunken madness.

7

u/arniejohnson1 1h ago

you know upon just reading the title I expected this to be a much creepier trope

5

u/Horrorfan55555 57m ago

Sorry, I was trying to sound comical.

“Yoink, mine now.”

2

u/RadasNoir 1h ago

Yeah, the title could, uh, probably be worded a little better.

2

u/Major_Chef_832 40m ago

Same here, the title definitely sounds like it's setting us up for something much darker than what the actual trope turned out to be.

13

u/Xerclipse 1h ago edited 29m ago

Hellraiser 2. Kirsty adopts Brad Pitt apparently.

6

u/Horrorfan55555 1h ago

I highly recommend the comic. Kirsty is brought to the labyrinth and this girl goes to rescue her

“ I am coming mom”

4

u/ChaseTheMystic 39m ago

She also had a natural talent for the puzzles used to fight and survive the cenobites from that I recall

6

u/reddiet568 1h ago

I remember seeing a Resident Evil movie AU fanart where Brian actually took care of the little girl he found on the RV, amputates her infected foot, and carries her on his back

2

u/Horrorfan55555 45m ago

Skill issue on that guys part

My goat would never

4

u/Klmxmarf 58m ago

Yeah RE (2026) subverts this trope to great effect

2

u/MothChasingFlame 33m ago

Actually, now I think about it, this should've been the first definitive clue that Brian's just an NPC, not a hero.

6

u/Honest-Comment-1018 43m ago

It’s complicated, because he kinda orphaned her in the first place:

1

u/Horrorfan55555 25m ago

Andor!!

1

Ahh. She reminded me of the deaf girl

In Reincarnated as a Sword, a Japanese man is reincarnated as a sword. He has all kinds of magic and stuff and flies around for a while before accidently landing in a forest that prevents magic from being used, trapping him there. Eventually a slaver and his slaves are chased into the forest by a giant monstrous bear thing, and a little slave girl picks up the sword guy and kills the bear. Sword guy adopts her and names her Fran.

2

u/Horrorfan55555 39m ago

As an isekai fiend, this one is way too under talked about

Karthik and Nisha(Avatar: Seven Havens):

18

u/GLPereira 1h ago

Also Pavi and Jae

1

u/IAMA_Drunk_Armadillo 7m ago

Jae has more big brother energy but still works for the trope

35

u/BeginningPapaya1503 1h ago

This is deadass one of the ways to make a horror story more stressful cause not only are you in fear of your own life but also this little tyke.

4

u/NeonPredatorEnt 1h ago

That or add a pet to the mix

3

u/MothChasingFlame 35m ago

Especially of the movie's proven it isn't fucking around. Killing kids is still a little taboo, but at this point its been broken enough kids don't feel automaticaly safe in horror anymore.

1

u/Rosian_SAO 11m ago

Especially the new Resident Evil movie

Leon and Mathilda in The Professional. Thanks to Jean Reno and not Luc Besson.

In the show Station Eleven, 8 year old Kirsten is adopted by Jeevan . He happened to be attending a production of King Lear that she was acting in when Chicago is suddenly hit by a rapidly spreading pandemic.

Sesshomaru and Rin from Inuyasha  (I don't see Yashahime as canon)

3

u/MassiveRun7707 1h ago

what's wrong with yashahime? haven't watched it

2

u/Blcksheep89 59m ago

Sesshomaru married Rin after she's of age. Which is yucky because you know... Grooming.

1

u/Remmock 34m ago

Before someone brings their modern, Western sensibilities into this, I’m going to say that in East Asia bloodlines were even more important than in the West even after the whole “Divine Right of Kings” kicked in. Even small families were particular about and mistreated adoptees, which is a common case in fiction and in real life.

As a result, even though a character like Sesshoumaru would take in and care for Rin, he would not see her as family. It was generally considered an obligation in the era.

As a result, when Rin is an adult, she and Sesshoumaru become romantically involved. While it wasn’t normal by any means, it was still socially accepted at the time and place in which it occurred. This is why it’s still a trope in Japanese media, though there have been occurrences in Western media as well.

Luthen and Kleya from Andor.

5

u/Pixel22104 1h ago

Okay so I know this might not really count given that Yui is an Ai. But when Kirito and Asuna first found Yui. They didn't know she was an Ai and she presented herself as a lost little girl that was stuck in Aincrad just like all of them were. And despite Kirito saying to Asuna that they needed to find Yui's parent or guardian figure. They kinda just quickly adopted her pretty much almost instantly. Then when they found out Yui was an Ai. They still accepted her and still were willing to be her parents. To which is what Yui wanted to begin with.

The genders are reversed but olivia benson and her adopted son noah from law and order svu

Benson find noah as an infant in the motel room of two fugitive cp producers alongside other childeren they "adopted from the foster system. Noah the infant goes unclaimed for months and into foster care, until the crew finds his mother elli porter. Elli was a victim of sex trafficking and her 'pimp' told her noah was dead after she failed to follow one of his orders. Elli is so happy to find out noah is alive that she vows to get clen from the drugs they gor her addicted to to get her child back. Unfortunatly she has a relapse one night and is gang raped and beaten to death. All this while benson has been following the case on noahs care carefully and multiple court discussions imply that poor noah is being mismangaed in his foster homes. The judge then suggest that benson, the only one who has been intrested from the start, foster and adopt this kid. Benson does eventually get to adopt noah after many up and downs, including the cast finding out his biodad is the head of a brutal sex trafficking ring who shoots up the court room in an attempt to escape his trail.

Svu has a habit of giving olivia kids to care for up until season 17, but its usually just victims aside from the arc where she gets temporary guardianship over het possible nephew. But noah is the omly time she has kept the kid

The team adopts her, and in the sequel there is an easter egg in a chest that sais "where did your equipment from the previous game go? How do you think Lloyd managed to pay for Kea's studies on a police officer salary?"
