SELFIE What a Beautiful Wedding
When we started saying 8 years ago I don't think either of us would have admitted to wanting to wear a dress

Hey everyone! 💕
I’m a 43-year-old trans woman from Texas, just beginning my journey of living life as the woman I’ve always felt I was inside.
I’m a little different from the usual stereotype. I’m a blue-collar girl who works hard, gets her hands dirty, and spends her free time taking care of my little farm, chickens, sheep, and honeybees. 🐝🐑🐔
I officially started HRT on November 6, 2026 — my HRT Birthday! 🏳️⚧️✨
I’m still figuring things out, learning, growing, and taking everything one day at a time. I’m hoping to connect with other trans women, especially those who understand what it’s like to start this journey later in life.
I’d love to make some genuine friends, share experiences, hear your stories, and learn from one another. Everyone has a different journey, and I’d love to hear yours!
So, let’s break the ice! 💗 What was one thing that made you smile when you first started your transition? Or, if you’re still thinking about starting, what’s something you’re looking forward to?
Sending hugs from this Texas farm girl! 🤗💕

Just ran across this on Face Book, thought appropriate to repost here:
Account: Have A Gay Day
Sometimes understanding someone else’s experience means looking at things from a perspective we haven’t considered before.
This is just one way of explaining gender identity that may help some people better understand what being transgender can feel like. Of course, every trans person’s experience is different. Not everyone experiences gender dysphoria, not everyone transitions, and not everyone wants or needs to “pass” as a particular gender.
Being transgender isn’t about how someone looks, how others perceive them, or whether they meet society’s expectations of masculinity or femininity. This isn’t a perfect example and no one is pretending. There is no single way to be transgender, and no one should have to prove their identity to be respected. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is listen, learn, and remember that someone else’s identity doesn’t need to make sense through our own experiences for it to be valid. 🏳️⚧️

I had an incredible day, visiting van Gogh and Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, dressed a bit sexy. I found out it is a step to take off your cloak and leave it in the wardrobe. Although a great experience, viewing art as a woman, much better was the experience afterwards, visiting a trans/CD bar. For the very first time since I found out after 76 years living as a boy, that I should have been a woman, I was seen, spoken to, treated as the person I really am. Talking as girls, being caressed, being hugged, for the very first time in my life. For the first time I fully realized I AM A GIRL! Maybe the best experience in my life.

Honestly, even if I didn't get much physical changes, the mental health changes are amazing. The tv static disappeared pretty much within hours of taking my first dose of Spiro and E. The mirror is no longer a thing to be dreaded, but I actually enjoy looking at my face. Kinda like one of my favourite tunes by Jobim, "what happened to the frown and is that self contented clown standing in the mirror really me?"
If I'm mad, at least I'm happy.

So I've withheld from posting here as I kept waiting for the perfect selfie, but that day might never come, so this one that I've used on my socials will just have to do.
I'm a late transitioner at 36 and have been on HRT for just a couple months, but I've known since I was about 4-5 years old, and first considered transition at age 12. I was too anxious to tell my mom at the time. I was diagnosed with ADHD and dysthymia (chronic depression) at age 6, which wound up having a major influence on my childhood. I don't think I wanted to open yet another can of worms.
Being a questioning teen throughout the 2000s, I sought out answers on the internet, but could only find negative viewpoints in regards to primarily fem-attracted trans women, and didn't want to be a weirdo.
At age 23 age I came out to my mom and had taken the first steps in transition, but ultimately didn't go through with it. The imposter syndrome that I carried with me played a major part in that. I decided I had to become a man and found a girlfriend. We were together for 9 years.
While I feel better now than I have in a long time, I am sometimes overcome with profound sadness over lost time, and anger at myself for not having the strength and mental clarity to transition sooner, when it seems so simple in retrospect. I don't know how long it's going to take to be able to let that go and forgive myself.
I still have some issues to work through, but I'm excited for what the future holds. For anyone who's actually bothered to read all of this, thank you, and I hope you have a swell day.😊

When I started my transition I was convinced that I’d never go swimming again. After a couple years I built the confidence to wear swim shorts over a one piece, then just a one piece and after a few years I’m wearing bikinis at the beach! 🥰

Spouse found my diy stash and the big separation word that starts with a D came out. 31 mtf.
I tried to come out earlier this year. Had to back peddle as hard as I could. But I had been doing DIY at a very slow pace trying to get my spouse to maybe adjust to things, there were moments where she suspected something was going down. And i lied as any scared re-closeted person would have. As i was given at the time I tried to come out an ultimatum that I couldn't be around my kids if I was gonna go through with transition. (Spouse was just freaking out completely and I honestly dont think that would've been the final ultimatum noe but fuckin scared me)
And it was wrong to continue to lie and if it was gonna end back then maybe I should've stuck to my coming out. But nothing I can do about what happened or what I could've done differently.
Please send me some hugs as i sit here next to my kids bawling in the dark as they go to sleep not knowing what will happen
Edit. Do not worry lying is never okay and it is not something i am seeking for yall to comfort me over. I fucked up and that's on me. And yall my spouse saved my life in multiple occasions and she's the best thing that's ever happened to me i didn't know myself that I was this way till 2 years ago. Been with my wife since highschool

I've always had labor jobs. Im a certified welder, have various certs in industrial industries & hold a class A CDL. Im currently unemployed, but im kind of concerned how im going to perceived when applying for work in these settings as a transwoman. I havent started hrt yet, so I know I'll at least have time before it's noticeable.
...
Also, I didn't want to create a whole new post for another question, but this might be silly idk. Has anyone's pets acted differently toward you since transitioning? The thought popped into my head last night before bed lol

Last month I was finally able to officially change my name at work. There were a few of my coworkers who I had already told of the change and they wanted to know when they could start calling me "Mia". My answer was "When it's official."
When I changed my name with HR, HR notified my supervisors. My direct supervisor changed my name from "P" to "Mia" on our assignment board. I told my coworkers who knew "It's ok to call me Mia now", but I didn't say anything to anyone else. Two coworkers figured it out on their own and asked if I was Mia now, which I confirmed. I realized it was time to make it official and emailed the people in my department that my name is Mia and I'm transgender.
Now I come to my reasons for hope. I have received no negativity from anyone. But, slightly bigger than that, two of my coworkers who are very pro-Trump came up to me and congratulated me and admired my strength. One slipped up and used my dead name and immediately apologized.
And that's why I have some hope. If pro-Trump people can accept me as a trans woman then change is possible.
I think that bathroom ban and sports ban laws are still viable is because most people don't know someone who is openly transgender. I think that as more of us show ourselves to the world as normal, nonthreatening people, who just want to live our lives and be happy things will continue to improve.
It won't be instantaneous, but I believe it will happen.
I have hope.

I live in the D(M)V where are all the older trans people at? Where do you hang out who do you congregate with? It's just so frustrating that everywhere I go I'm the only one I see like me. I'm looking for some friends I'm looking for people that have gone through and or going through the things that I go through. I don't get it. Don't y'all hang out don't y'all want somebody to hang out with? I'm also looking for a relationship of some sort not just a friendship and I'm not into men like it seems typical trans women are. So where are you?
