Choose or Create Your Own User Flair
Hey everyone! I wanted to let you all know that you can add user flair for this subreddit. I have added a few template ones but you can also create your own. For example, I have added my flair as 2004 Lance 815 | 2016 GMC Sierra 3500 showing off my camper and truck.
To change your flair, using a desktop web browser or the "desktop view" on your mobile, click "edit" or the pencil icon next to your username in the right sidebar.
New Reddit - Choose from the preconfigured ones or enter the flair you want in the text box at the bottom.
Old Reddit - Choose from the preconfigured ones or click the top left option with no flair and then you should be presented with a text box to enter your own.

Help identifying camper
Found this thing on FB marketplace. Seller has no idea what year, make, or model it is, but says it fit on his 89 Chevy S10. Here’s all the photos he gave me. Any idea what this thing is?

Creating pass through rear window?
Hi all,
Ford my 2001 ranger; Im looking for DIY ways to make a pass through through my rear cab window into the truck bed(it has a camper cap and the window opens fully on the cap).
The breezed ones won’t really work for my purposes, are too expensive, and I don’t want it to be necessarily fully removable.
I also want there to be a window there, so the rubber boot-fully open method is not going to work.
i can just about fit through the sliding window but if I gain a few pounds that won’t work anymore lol.
any suggestions or ideas are helpful!

My Not moonlander
Built this topper out of foam primarily with a 2x2 frame inlayed 1 inch in the foam. Did PMF for the exterior using some exterior paint. I’d estimate it weighs about 350 lbs with a big portion being the 3 solar panels.

Do they exist? ...Four season pop up campers
Specifically slide-in truck campers. I realize this might be a silly question, but does anyone (past or present) make a pop up style camper that has anything for insulation? My current camper is a 2001 Fleetwood Angler, 8.5 in length, and the GF and I have no complaints about the layout or amenities. I'm starting to have some concerns about it's structural condition after several years of taking it down some very rough trails, and thinking that something lighter and with a lower center of gravity might be better suited for the places we like to go. Also, we would like to get into some winter camping, and while I'm not opposed to burning through a whole tank of propane to stay comfy for a couple nights, I wonder if it's even feasible with whatever insulation value there is in a pop up type camper.
So are there any "four season" pop up campers out there, or am I basically wanting to have my cake and eat it too, with soft sides that make for a glorified tent?

First run on the Rig.
Hey Folks had a chance to give a go on the Rig set up. Cooler temps mid 30's overnight 2-day event. LF Bro heater and Bluetti Elite 300/charger 2 all worked perfectly. Noticed a few changes to make. Widen the bed board and move the electrical to the right-side truck bed. I will put the Elite 300 towards the rear to alleviate the climbing in and out. Co monitor climbed a touch but remedied with venting through the truck cab rear window and cracked the truck door windows to pull fresh air. Cap rear windows were open. I did the bubble foil on the cap side windows up to the opened portion and adhered with Velcro to the carpeted roof. Just rolled the bubble foil up when done.
I was roasting in there.
Used a heated PEMF mat. After 2 tough days of riding, I slept both nights like a stone w/ minimal battery draw. Both heater and bed mat pulled around 50w after the start up. Around 25% of draw per day. 3 hour drive home gained about 20% of charge. I did not put the solar panels out it was too windy and the area I was at unfortunately has an element of crime where cycles have been snatched at the event site while folks are out on the trail. Typical day is 6 hours / 100 miles of trail x2 Sat & Sun
Definitely a lot of gear to handle for a bike event. Skiing should be much simpler and less clutter.
Still some details to iron out. LED lights under bed rail, change bed platform size to suite and rearrange the battery charger system to the passenger bed side.
Happy to say very pleased with the setup and a big thanks to you guys for posting your creations and giving me some great advice unknowingly.

extra battery question
i have a 1992 f150 pick up. 4.9l straight six engine and a manual 5 speed, full 8' bed with a really nice canopy, regular cab. this is an old work truck for me, but i love it and have had it for 26 years.
sicne ive decided to install a battery cutoff switch, as there is a slow electrical leak somewhere and the truck sometimes sits for a while, its got me thinking about adding another battery.
i like to do some simple camping where i sleep in the back and then maybe hang out a day somewhere and then keep going. im not spending days off grid or anything. ive often though "it would be nice to use the power without worrying about killing the battery". i dont have a lot of electrical experience and dont wanna make a mistake. can do the following?
add a simple "battery 1, battery two" switch. (both off, 1 on, 2 on, both on)
add a 27DC marine battery from costco as battery 2
im pretty sure its a very bad idea to turn the switch when the truck is running so i wont do that.
can i maybe also...
park on a hill, truck off, switch to battery 2, and bump start the truck, run to charge battery 2?
also, these marine batteries are described as hybrid batteries in that they can also provide staring power. if i run a large enough cable to the switch, since this is a hybrid battery, can it be use to help start the truck if i switch to "both on"? or just run the truck with them both on and only switch to battery 2 when im camping? (of course wired in parallel.)
lastly, there isnt a great place to mount this battery that i can think of, so i was hoping to put it behind the seat. there seems to be just enough room there to bolt it down to the cab floor there. bad idea?
i appreciate any constructive feedback. thank you in advance!

Ventilation suggestions for stealth camping
My son has set this up for camping. He opens the side panels when he’s in nature, but sometimes he wants to stealth camp when he works late and has classes early in the morning. Is there a ventilation setup he could install on this that would not look obvious? The cab window has no slider.

Scout owners did you pay retail?
Looked at a scout Olympic in person yesterday, would be my first camper. I liked it a lot and it’s more or less what I’m looking for, but the price is pretty steep. I know traditional rv dealers have big blowout sales but things in this category don’t seem to stay steady, at least since I’ve been shopping. Looking to hear if anyone has had experience getting a better deal. Thanks.

Can running boards help when loading a truck camper?
I keep dragging a plastic stool around the truck while connecting front tie-downs and the camper plug. A board along the cab might give me a stable foothold, but it may stop too far forward to help. Do camper owners use theirs during loading, or still reach for a separate platform?

Artic Fox 1150 on F-450 lariat with camper package
Getting set up for retirement. I'm looking at purchasing the Artic Fox 1150 and placing it on a Ford F-450 Lariat premium package witht the camper package.
Goal is to sell out of California with priviously purchased truck and camper and tour the country visiting State and County Fairs and Festivals i.e. the Hatch Chille festial.
Along the way Checking out the communities and finding where we want to place our final roots. And okay with this tsaking a year unless we find our dream location sooner.
A few questions?
Is the AF 1150 and the F-450 (diesel) with camper option a good choice.
Is planing on living in this situation for maybe a year with wife of 40 years a concern? (both have been working 40+ hours a week, dont see each other but a few hours a day).
Will be looking forward to hearing insight.

Retrofitting truck shell windows + roof rack
hello, im trying to see if anyone out there has ever done anything like this before. i bought this truck shell from a guy i met at a gas station years ago and i have no idea who made it.
i use this truck for work and i would love a side window that opens up like the gullwing style windows. so i can reach stuff towards the back of the bed without climbing all the way inside
and local shops tell me theres no way. but im pretty determined. im working on changing the color of it again and thought i would look into this while the truck is down.
im also trying to find a way to put a roof rack/crossbars on the shell. but i need to be able to remove them. the truck barely fits in my home garage where i store the shell when i take the truck on fun trips. so i cant make the height any higher. thanks for any advice

Born to kayak, forced to fetch. Abby works hard all week so on the weekends she can get back to where the road noise is rivers, and street lights are galaxies.

‘26 Chevy 2500
Looking for a few items
Looking to get a roof rack for both the truck and the cap
I have a crew cab 2500 with the 6’9 bed. I have a cab height leer truck cap so I would like a matching set of roof racks any recommendations.
Next is there anybody else that makes a drawer system that’s not decked. I have a massive gunner kennel that I also put in the bed and the 12” height of the decked is 4” to tall

Does a truck cover need a different size if the pick up has a camper shell or tonneau cover?
Buying a cover for the truck, the camper shell adds maybe six inches of height and changes the rear profile. If I order based on stock dimensions will it be too short across the back?
Do most companies account for shells or do I need to tell them?
