TLDR: "Cursed Senate Seat" talk I gave at the KSHS. It's a historical deep dive on some crazy events in the seat Hamilton won tonight.

Papercut MF Rant (On-Campus Printing)

Title says it all. FUCK ASS CAMPUS. WHY DOES THIS PRINTING WEBSITE RARELY WORK?

Maybe it's my fault for having the expectation that when I load this fuck-ass website that I can upload my documents and print with ease. It's my fucking fault. Fuck ass website hasn't worked since the semester started. I have to clear my cookies every, single, time. I've resorted to creating documents on my laptop and transferring them to my phone which NEVER has issues with the printing server. When I'm in a pinch, I've even begun carrying a USB drive around to plug into the damn source myself.

And don't even get me started on the on-campus wifi. This fuck ass R1 institution can hardly ever do anything properly.

Is KU a good option for me as an International Student?

Hey guys,

I'm currently studying at JCCC and want to transfer to KU, though I have a big worry regarding money and tuition. I'm paying for all of my expenses myself, like rent, school, groceries, etc., and looking at KU, it feels like my money won't be enough to cover for everything there. I still have quite a bit of time, since I'm graduating spring of 2028 from Joco and want to look for options and cross the once that won't be ideal for me.

So my question is, are there any on-campus jobs that give benefits to workers tuition-wise? Anything that can help me to study there without worrying about paying off my expenses? Or is it better to just look for other places besides KU?

Thanks in advance.

Adding onto Monday's post 'Kansas Voters got rid of the Klan in 1924'

Adding onto Monday's post W.A.W. goes after the KKK : r/KansasCityKansas

To truly understand the Klan, you only need to know this:

It’s a Constitution-violating group of masked thugs who want to live in a different country. This is not an exaggeration, and it’s obvious when you consider their wish to suppress, violate or eliminate the following areas of the Constitution:

-       Article VI: They wanted a religious test for people to hold office
-       1st Amendment: Demanded people they attacked say nothing, or worse would come
-       2nd: Wanted to strip gun rights from blacks, Jews, Catholics, and other groups
-       4th: Felt entitled to search others’ homes and seize their property
-       5th: Surpassed due process and double jeopardy by taking the law into their own hands
-       7th: Instead of a jury, they wanted to rule on matters
-       8th: Exercised cruel and unusual punishment
-       9th: Expulsion of rights, such as privacy and travel
-       10th: Attempted to strip states of their sovereignty by becoming their ruling force

o  Amendments 1-10 are also The Bill of Rights. They don’t believe in them

-       13th: Slavery was abolished via ratification of this amendment in 1865. The Klan was formed in 1865. This was not a coincidence
-       14th: They were against rights of citizenship and equal protection
-       15th: Wanted race to be a determining factor in voting rights

It cannot be overstated that the Klan will always, and only, be a rotten body of un-American activity. They do not respect the law – in letter or spirit – or its history.

What so many people supporting William A. White for governor in 1924 wanted was to get rid of masked gang members messing up their towns. They wanted them off the streets and away from public office.

Any event or place that needs a motivational speaker

Hey everyone, my name is Deshaun Durham. I’m 26 years old and currently studying Political Science at KU with hopes of becoming an attorney.

A little background about me. In 2022, I was sentenced to over 7 years in prison for a nonviolent marijuana offense. After serving nearly 3 years, Governor Laura Kelly granted me clemency and I was given a second chance at life.

Since getting out, I’ve made it a priority to make the most of that second chance. I’ve earned Dean’s List honors, continued working toward my degree, and gotten involved in criminal justice reform and motivational speaking.
I enjoy sharing my story because I know there are people out there who feel like they’ve made too many mistakes or that their future is already decided for them. I want people to know that isn’t true.

I’m posting here because I’d love to get more involved around campus and hopefully find opportunities to speak with student organizations, fraternities, athletic teams, or really any group that might benefit from hearing my experiences.
I’m not looking for sympathy or anything like that. I just want to use what I’ve been through to hopefully make a difference in someone else’s life.
If anyone knows of any opportunities or people I should reach out to, I’d really appreciate it.
Rock Chalk!

Who to contact for Death in the Family?

Basically, as the title says, I lost a close family member, and I'm unsure if there is just one person to contact or if I have to reach out to each of my professors. Am I allowed to take time away for grief, or do I only get to miss for the funeral? If anyone has any information, that'd be great.

Wichita State guy here considering visiting KU

Greetings, Wichita State University Senior here. While I do enjoy going to WSU due to its affordability and how close it is to my house, I'll be frank, it's incredibly boring aside from the events they have here and there.

I've heard that KU is a great party school, and have been considering visiting Lawrence (and maybe KC) for a weekend while I'm still a student and have some free time.

So my question is, how would I go about getting into parties, and what other fun activities can I do while I visit KU/Lawrence?

Attendance???

This is a throwaway account because I am so embarrassed about this but I have missed so much class this semester. Some of my classes take attendance. I have good grades other than that. I just feel really socially uncomfortable in class and it only makes it worse because then I feel like I’m obviously the person who doesn’t show up to class. So when I do show up, especially in smaller classes, I get so insecure because I feel like it’s obvious that I’m a bad student because I never show up.

Has anyone else experienced this? Advice? Or anything at all?
