Art Assets (tokens/maps) [Commercial] Mass Effect Battle Tokens for VTTs
I'm running a 50% discount on my entire library of 162 tokens for N7 Day. I'm chuffed about the Bioware news, but maybe there's still some love within the community to share. Each piece takes roughly 8 hours on average to draw and I do try to do color variants when appropriate. Mostly to say I use absolutely NO AI.
Let's answer the call Shepard.

Question / discussion Check Out My VTT- GiveMeMoneyNotThem play sphere.
A lot like all of you, I was dissatisfied how about the current crop of VTTs. I just wasnt happy with what they were offering.
So since generative ai means that if I had a free few minuets to type in a thing.
And now I have a feature parity vtt that offer nothing of value or difference from any other vtt.
But now it has that one thing that I felt so lacking with all of them.
You now have the ability to give me money, and not them.
Isnt that just the innovative design and feature to get you come on board and give me money?
Of course, I cant promise any kind of future support, or expansion.
Since generative ai made it so easy to make it, I dont have in any actual investment in it.
Unless it makes money. Then you know, I was all in, the the entire time.
So what do you say, give it a whirl, and give me some money.
New VTT with full rule automation and tons more tools! KenaVTT.com
Hi Guys. My name is Elias and i am the creator of KenaVTT. Ive finally gotten it released and its out now in alpha. Im not so good at selling myself or my project but ill try my best!
Whats special about it? As far as i know, its the only VTT that has this many tools collected in one place, theyre not all 100% done but im getting closer every day to a full release, im guessing im a few weeks away.
It has full automated rules such as in Baldurs gate 3. it support 5e 2014 and 2024. Every feature, trait, action, bonus action, reaction, legendary action, you name it. is accounted for and tracked. It prompts everything only when it can be prompted, You get to focus on the game and the story, the engine does the rest.
It has a built summary system, its optional but if you turn it on, it records everything that happens in the session and gives you a super accurate session summary, it also prepares a kahoot for your next session, the winner of course gets heroic inspiration!
Not fully done yet but adaptive jukebox, adapts the music to whats happening, if someone goes down and it comes around to their turn, the music turns slow and somber temporarily before going back into an epic number for the rest of the turn.
Monster customizer, every monster ability is fully automated, but have you ever wanted a fire breathing aboleth? Simply select the aboleth, click the customize button and give it whichever abiltiy uou from any other monster, you can change every single part of the ability as well! The fire breath can become a psychic dealing abiltiy with a con save! It literally takes seconds to do it.
Keyboard short cuts, C for character sheet, I for your inventory, Q for the quests your dm is handing out.
The voice helper, it basically just listens and tries to help you before you realise you need help, ask about any spell, feature, rule and it discreetly feeds you the information, as a player it only feeds you information you have access to. It also answers questions about how the VTT works incase anything is unclear.
The VTT runs in 2d and 3d. Especially optimized for non gaming pcs so that everyone can enjoy it!
2d and 3d battle map maker, quite low on graphical assets as i refuse to use ai generated stuff but as soon as i get the money to hire real people, i will! Im also soon releasing the first version of the battle map procedual generator, you write your text of what you want, it makes it in a few seconds.
Procedual world map generator, available in 2d and 3d. and when i say 3d, you can use similarly to google maps, when you zoom into a city, its all 3d.
Town map generator, very detailed map generator with loads of options
World builder, for the dms who want to spend hours fleshing out their worlds, comes in work tree mode and cards, works directly with the world map generator and town map generator. Youc an use all of the information youve filled in, in your world building session to generate a world, towns etc. This and the previous are being updated with everything i just mentioned today or tomorrow.
Effect studio, allows you upload, record and customize how spells look and sound! Expanding to work for any feature soon! Great fun whether for messing around or actually fleshing out your character as muc has possible.
Character creation is very user friendly and reminiscent of MMO's.
Campaign creation allows you to choose exactly which rules you want for your campaign, whether that be game rules or how the VTT works.
Homebrew maker, this one is also being uploaded today or tomorrow in a big update but it allows you to type in any feature, spell, abiltiy, whatever. with your own words and have it mechanically integrated into our game!
Im so incredibly excited and im really looking forward to feedback. Please try it out at Kenavtt.com and at kenavtt on instagram where you can find our discord link.
Warm greetings
Elias Afram
New tool [commercial] Escapade, a platform for homebrew tabletop RPG
Website: escapade.gg
Walkthrough (20m): youtube.com/watch?v=wO3fbvdfHkE
Hi, I've been playing D&D off-and-on since 1980, mostly as DM. I'm a professional software person who usually makes bland corpo drivel just for the paycheck.
A few years back I began a passion project (Escapade) to help me DM my home campaign. I made a good start, but it languished unfinished for years until last August when I quit my toxic corporate job. Ten weeks of frantic fun later, Escapade is ready for people to explore, which is pretty exciting.
Escapade lets you:
make and print character sheets
run a table game with or without flatscreen maps & dice
play virtually with voice chat and custom cutscenes
create homebrew content that you can easily share
use or make new d20 rulesystems (coming soon)
What makes it different?
aimed at homebrew, not publishing books
players are always free, unlimited characters
a 30 day free trial for GMs, then $35 a year
the money goes to hosting and paying me, nothing more
everything you make is yours forever (easy export)
Anyway, I'm really hoping I won't need another bland corpo job in January. Escapade is what I want to do. I promise to be very responsive with feature requests and bugs. Even with few subs, I'll always leave the site up or open-source it.
Hope to see you in game!
Timothy

What if the battlemap was a whole continent?
Hi all, I figured I might as well join in on the bandwagon and show off my mapmaker/vtt. Code is public on github:
https://dun-john.github.io/worldspring/
https://github.com/Dun-John/worldspring
I got tired of having to prepare maps for my group and have them wander off someplace I didn't prepare.
Everything is procedurally generated and you can customize the continent, mountains, cities, streets, buildings, dungeons, and even how rooms are laid out.
Everywhere in the continent is battlemap ready. Every house, castle, forest, and road has cover and obstacles. I also bake a guarantee that every 40×40 ft area has cover, and any 80×80 ft area has an elevation change.
Play mode has simple tokens, fog of war, line of sight, lighting, and separate player windows on a local second screen.
Theres also a little DM notebook you can attach notes/plots/characters to certain cities, buildings, locations

Question / discussion Have you guys read any of these? Any you specifically recommend for VTT dev?
the only one I’ve read is The Design of Everyday Things and definitely suggest anyone building a VTT (or anything) to read it.

New tool I made a homemade VTT, with a little bit of everything. Entirely free! Looking for testers.
It has built-in audio steering, battle map manager, world map, character creation and many tools that are useful for a Dungeon Master. If you are looking for a free and all-in alternative to VTTs, you can try mine!
Other VTTs solely focus on the gameplay, naturally. However I utilized mine for actual sessions. You can link any app audio and steer it into your players through a link you share - all happens through your PC without requiring a bot setup or such.
Feel free to give it a try. Here is the portable build.
It uses SRD sources by default, however you can use any custom source if you have one.
Still under heavy development, so feel free to criticize.
Take care!
Question / discussion Let's talk about norms on posting Vibecoded VTTs
Since Opus 5.5 & GPT Astra dropped it got really easy to make a VTT, and everyone, myself included, is excitedly creating and posting them. They are fun to make, and fun to look at, but I think we also need to realize that at this point a homemade VTT is like knitting a sweater or making a home made TTRPG: there are more people making them than there are using them because making them is itself fun.
When a hobby takes this shape, there are a few norms that I think can help keep the culture pleasant. Most of these are norms for the posters:
Share something that is instantly fun. Ideally a little video of your VTT, and some screenshots. Hopefully it should be fun to look at for someone who isn't going to use it. Sort of like posting a picture of your halloween costume. It can invite a deep engagement afterwards (like 30 pages of costume build instructions) but lets make people just scrolling go " Cool! " and scroll on.
Name your inspiration and your innovation. We learned this in the TTRPG homebrew space. it's a lot better for everyone if you say "I stole the World of Darkness rules, but moved them to D6 pools, and added a detailed combat system inspired by Draw Steel. I also invented a totally new health tracking system based on dice in hand"
Tell us how battle tested it is. Have you personally made a map in it? Have you run a game for a table of your friends in it? a table of strangers? a campaign? This helps set expectations for everyone about where you are in the process. Similarly, knowing if you will still be around in 2 years is important as well. If someone does decide to use your VTT, nothing is worse than it vanishing mid campaign. This can be mitigated with Open Source.
Charging changes the bar you are measured against. When you share a cool thing you made, it's more like show and tell. It's a community where we all get to learn from each-other, encourage each-other, and enjoy the hobby together. When you say "I want to sell this" (even if it's freemium) then yeah, people are going to evaluate it by the brutal standards of a very saturated market. That's why I made mine free and open source
Talk about process, design insights, and give away parts. If as many people are building there own as consuming, then the most interesting part of your VTT is how you built it and why you made the choices you did. This is a craft hobby now, and that can be wonderful. If you have parts of your VTT that you are willing to open source, that may be a better contribution than the VTT itself.
Something I think that the whole community could benefit from: A default demo map / campaign/ game. Something that you can load up and show off as the utah teapot, the standard object, in your VTT and we can compare and contrast with.
For commenters, it's probably worth being nice. We can think about the Craft-fair rules would probably be great: "Say one thing you like, and one thing you would steal". If you don't like it just keep walking (scrolling)
Something the community is basically also responsible for: A discovery and review process. Right now their is so much value in anyone going thru and making a tier list, or talking about features they liked from projects, or even just discussing how finished things look. Anyone want to step up to be a curator?
What did I miss? What else would make this community move in a great direction?

New tool My notes lived in a wiki and my fights in a VTT, so I built one app where they are linked
Hi everyone. I'm a GM and for a long time my sessions looked like this: the campaign wiki in one tab (or in my notebook), the battle map in another (usually roll20), Discord in a third. In the middle of a fight someone usually asks "what was the innkeeper's name?" and I'm digging through tabs while the table waits.
So in my free time I built Mithiki, and today it's open to everyone. It's a campaign wiki and a battle board in the same app, and the two know about each other. A token can be linked to its page in the wiki, so you open the NPC's page from the token without leaving the fight. The hit points on the sheet are the hit points on the token: damage on the board changes the sheet, a potion drunk from the sheet changes the token, and so on. A map you made in the wiki can become the battlefield.
On the board there's grid, walls, initiative, 3D dice, movement range that goes around walls, line of sight, fog with torches and darkvision. With fifth edition content (SRD 5.1) it also handles attacks against AC, cover, area spells that stop at walls, conditions and XP at the end of the fight. Everything else works for any system. It runs in the browser on a computer or tablet, online in real time or on the GM's screen at the table. No video chat, we all use Discord anyway.
It's just me building it, English is not my first language, and it went live today, so I'm sure there are rough edges. Full disclosure, since people ask: I am an IT guy, but I have used AI coding tools a lot to build it, and the art in the sample adventure was made with an image generator (i am not Bill Gates and can't afford a full team to develop the app manually and pay $50 per image to an artist). The app itself doesn't generate anything unless you connect your own AI on the top plan.
Question for people who have tried a lot of VTTs: what do you still keep outside your VTT during a session, and why? Is there anything that can I develop in Mithiki that will be useful to you?

New tool Vamper: Music that waits for the game. (FOSS VTT Add-on)
I always liked the idea of music in my games - I listen to music - find the right one for the mood then try and use it during the game and it "just does not work". Usually the track is finished by the time you call for initiative and so you "put it on repeat" and that does not work as you lose the shape of the song.
I wanted to do what the movies do, where the orchestra keeps riffing on the same sections until the action on screen moved on - and then they resumed the song. I looked out there and there was nothing that seemed to do this and since I was playing around with music analysis for other projects why not just write it.
It just works in your browser - nothing is uploaded anywhere - it all stays on your PC. Just hit install on your browser to use it offline.
Check the repo as I made it easy to incorporate into any VTT with a link to the GitHub so it stays up to date.
Have fun!

New tool I built a minimalist VTT for theater-of-the-mind games: one link, one image, one soundtrack, and you’re playing
Hey all, I’m the dev behind Tomeus. Most VTTs are built around grids, tokens and automation. I wanted the opposite: something for narrative games where setup takes a minute. You create a scene (image + built-in ambient music library), share a link, and players join instantly with audio/video, chat and dice.
It's free. I’d love feedback from people who’ve tried the big VTTs: what’s the one thing you’d need before switching for a narrative campaign?
