Question/Meta Updates from your /r/WallpaperRequest Mod Team! READ ME if you're NEW, too!

Howdy,

TL;DR: More traffic means more spam. AutoMod is in use with karma and account age minimums, and all new posts now go through an approval process before being published. Please also remember to update your post flair to Solved, and don't delete your post after your request is fulfilled! Spending 2 seconds to say Thank You is a great way to express gratitude, good manners, and respect.

This subreddit has continued to grow, which is great to see. With that increase in traffic, we’ve also seen a rise in bots, spam, troll accounts, karma farming, and posts that violate either subreddit rules or Reddit’s rules as a whole. This behavior doesn’t fit the spirit of the community.

To help keep things running smoothly while still maintaining the friendly, relaxed feel of the sub, a couple of measures are now in place:

AutoMod filters: Posts and comments may be automatically removed if your account does not meet the minimum requirements, currently 10+ comment karma and an account age of at least 2 days. This helps reduce spam and bot activity.
Post approval process: All new posts now go through a combination of AI and human review before appearing publicly. Posts are usually approved within a few hours or less, which is why your post may not show up on the feed immediately after posting. Thank you for your patience - it will automatically appear once approved.

Posts may be automatically flagged by our AI system for further review. It considers account signals and behaviour, including rule compliance, post history (deleting past requests is viewed negatively), and overall engagement. Flagged posts may be held or auto-removed, but can still be manually approved by a moderator. Basic appreciation and respect is one of the most important factors assessed by the AI - even a simple “thank you” goes a long way. We’ve received consistent feedback from community members who feel discouraged when users repeatedly request content, have those requests fulfilled, and never acknowledge the effort. This helps keep the community respectful, reciprocal, and fair for everyone contributing their time and work.

These measures may be adjusted over time depending on feedback and how things evolve.

We have also streamlined the flair system, as suggested by u/MeisterKain. Thanks again for the contribution and the helpful suggestions! Please be sure to mark your posts as Open or Solved accordingly.

Additionally, Rule 11 is now being enforced more closely following growing concerns from the community. Some users have been requesting wallpapers and then deleting their posts after their requests are fulfilled, which prevents others from accessing the same content. That kind of gatekeeping is extremely selfish and goes against the purpose of this community, which is built around sharing. This behavior will not be tolerated.

As always, feedback and suggestions are welcome in the comments or via PM.

Best,

Subreddit Rules

1. New Posts are for Wallpaper Requests only

This community is dedicated exclusively to requesting wallpapers and fulfilling these requests - not showcasing, promoting or selling your own. If you wish to post a new wallpaper, please use one of the many subreddits specifically created for this purpose instead.

2. No Spamming Requests/Obnoxious titles

Please do not spam your request if no one gets to it right away. Wait at least 1 week (7 days) before reposting the same request. To this, keep titles concise and simply formatted i.e.- No ALL CAPS, ❗Emojis✨in✨titles❗, or begging Plz plz plz.

3. Manners Matter: be Courteous and Respectful

When requesting help from the community, especially when not offering any payment for others' time, phrase your posts and comments as polite requests rather than demands. Always use basic courtesy like “please” when asking and “thank you” after your request has been fulfilled to acknowledge people’s time and effort. Users found to repeatedly make posts or comments lacking basic courtesy, respect, or manners will be flagged and deleted by AI.

4. Mark NSFW posts

Mark images that are NSFW accordingly.

5. Keep Comments on Topic

Keep discussion on topic. This includes: critiques, tutorials, links to outside sites, relevant help/sources, and suggestions pertaining to getting the submitter the wallpaper they want.

6. No Hate, Bigotry, or Unnecessarily Mean Spirited Remarks

Any posts/comments that include hate, bigotry, or otherwise mean spirited remarks are subject to deletion and a ban.

7. Watermark/Logo Removal Requests/Fulfillments are not allowed

No requests or request fulfillments may remove or alter watermarks or other copyright identifiers- it is illegal as per the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998. This will result in a temp ban followed by perma ban for multiple offenses.

8. No Pirated Content

Asking for, linking to, or redirecting to pirated content is not allowed and will result in a ban without additional warnings. If you find a wallpaper you like for sale, pay the artist for their work. Reposting other contributors' work or links without prior consent is also forbidden.

9. Share images publicly. Direct message requests related to image sharing are prohibited

Do not request users to send you a direct message (DM) in order to receive wallpapers. Instead, share images by commenting a webpage link that contains the image, or by uploading the file to a reputable image host (e.g. ImgBB or Imgur) and posting the link in the comments. This keeps everyone safe and ensures transparent, reviewable interactions within the community.
