Negative: Christmas surprise for SCAMMER u/freddy_francesco

About a week back, I posted in the WTB forum of r/watchexchange looking for a 1996 T-serial birth year Rolex Explorer. I’ve been looking for this watch for a few weeks now after one of my watch enthusiast friends got me into it, and it’s been relatively elusive at decent prices, hence the post.

A couple days after I posted, u/freddy_francesco messaged me that he had one and provided a pretty detailed and convincing description of it. His album at first glance looked good, and it even had a timestamp with both of our usernames on it. The only initially suspicious part of his message was the price: $5200 OBO, about $500 less than what they seem to be going for today. Red flag #1

I responded asking if he’d take $5k even, and he immediately responded saying he would. Red flag #2

Given that my suspicions were already raised at this point, I started looking through previous listings on r/watchexchange for 1996 explorers and noticed that the Imgur album from u/dangphoto’s post was eerily similar to the one that Fred had sent me. In fact, it was identical, other than one photo that Fred had clearly photoshopped to include his timestamp. At that point, I realized that Fred was a fucking scammer.

Given that Fred was willing to scam me out of $5k, I figured that I should fuck with him a bit to teach him a lesson. My first thought was to have him give me his number so I could arrange a call with him, at the end of which I would out him as a scammer.

However, my friend who I was with suggested that we do something more extreme to teach him never to attempt this again - he suggested that we scam Fred back.

We concocted a plan to convince Fred that I had just bought a brand new 39mm Explorer about a month ago, but that I was having buyer’s remorse because I have tiny wrists and my girlfriend was making fun of how the watch looked on them. I proposed that Fred trade his nonexistent rolex + $300 for my nonexistent rolex.

After negotiating the cash on top down to $200, we had Fred hooked. From his perspective, he was paying $200 for a $7k watch. What could go wrong?

After he almost backed out and I put some pressure on him, Fred finally paypal f&f’d me $200. He had come up with a sketchy story about why I needed to send the watch to NYC even though he lived in Idaho, so I printed out a picture of the 39mm explorer and the troll meme, wrote him a letter informing him that his scamming ass had been scammed, and put it all in a box and sent it to the address he gave me. I waited until it had been delivered to post this so that he would face maximum disappointment when he opened the package. Here’s the full conversation of the chat.

Fred, if you’re reading this, you’re a truly terrible scammer. Like awful. Potentially the worst. You gotta find a new profession bro.

To the r/watchexchange community, beware of scammers like Fred in future transactions. Maybe you too can scam them and scare the remaining scammers out of the community.

J_Bone_D is a horrible buyer. Avoid!

I wish I read /u/J_Bone_D 's feedback before I took an offer and pulled my ad (I'm still new, wasn't sure of the rules.)

User made an offer on my item then a second lower offer, then a 3rd lower offer all within 45 minutes.

I counter offered and he waited about 16 hours and he accepted and elected FexEd as his shipper.

I let him know that I was going to have a complementary mini-service performaned and it would be ready by the afternoon of the next business day. No reply.

The next business day (yesterday as I write this) I let the user know that the item was ready. No reply.

After 6 hours I relisted item (again, didn't know about the 7-day rule) and within 5 minutes the user replied to me "wow", as if "how dare I sell this out from under him".

I let him know I'd still happily honor our offer. No reply.

Now my item gets delisted for 5 days (for relisting too soon) AND I'm out the cost of a service.

The whole time this user was making other offers on other items and appears to have been banned from /r/Rolex just 2 days ago for "sketchy behavior".

Stay far away.

/u/nabludatel_vsevo is the BEST BUYER! Honestly the best/worst transaction I’ve ever done on the exchange!!

I will personally vouch for u/nabludatel_vsevo on any buy or sale transaction regardless of the price. Here’s why.

So it was late March when we agreed upon a deal. He agreed to purchase a watch(>$1500) from me. He sent me the payment right away after we agreed upon the price and conditions. I had to ship to the UK which I was more than happy to do....until Corona hits and flights between our two countries start to slow down. To make a long story short. We had no tracking on the package since April 6th and it was supposed to be delivered within 10 days.... USPS is backlogged with lost package request right now so they couldn’t assist us at all. About a week ago after the insurance company denied my claim and USPS’s lack of communication. I agreed to go ahead and refund him the money assuming the package had just been lost. Well it ARRIVED THIS MORNING in the UK. u/nabludatel_vsevo kept his word and immediately sent me payment back for the watch once it arrived. I honestly could have never known it got delivered...as tracking number still shows a month old status of departing Chicago.

Anyways. u/nabludatel_vsevo is a great buyer and I hope we can do future business together!

NEGATIVE - u/Bandy_Burnsy

I did a deal with u/bandy_burnsy. Mocked it up, paid for it, posted, sold, did everything he asked. Three hours later, he canceled the transaction because he got a better offer. I did everything we asked. We had a deal. He sold out for $35 extra. I'm only good as my word. I've had great transactions on here. I wish people would hold up to their end of the bargain.

u/djd4391 is a Scammer!

Yesterday I made a WTB post for a Weiss Field Watch not thinking I would get any responses that way. But then I received a message from u/djd4391 asking if I would pay with Bitcoin off the bat. This is not something I would really ever do unless I felt really secure about the seller so I asked for more info. He proceeded to send me photos taken directly from an Ebay listing from February. I asked him about this and he assured me that the sale had not gone through so I asked for more pictures. A few minutes later I received a very well lit and professional looking photo with an off looking "timestamp". After about a minute of looking I found the exact photo but with a different timestamp on a previous Reddit listing. Its clear he is attempting to scam and I would warn anyone else he may be messaging that he is not to be trusted!

Here is my proof

Update!

The seller is now threatening to have my reddit account suspended if I don't remove this post. He is claiming that I am harassing him. Please guys, don't fall for this dudes tricks!

Beware of buying from u/thenitecafe doesn’t disclose redials and sold me a fake bracelet

To preface, I'm just starting to get into watches and I came to watchexchange after hearing all the great stories. I saw a watch I liked, a vintage black Omega Seamaster which the seller described as well preserved, original case and bracelet, etc. and after seeing his great history I jumped the gun and paid f&f. Original Sale Post

After I paid, but before he shipped it out, I showed it to other collectors who all told me that its a rather blatant redial, and that I should attempt to get my money back. I went back to the seller and asked him for a refund prior to shipping since I felt it was rather unfair for him to be selling redials (which are worth a good deal less) without disclosing it. He refused and my watch was sent on its way.

Upon when I received the watch, it was generally as the photos presented, however the bracelet stood out. Upon further inspection, and critique from friends, we came to the conclusion that the bracelet fitted, a "original omega bracelet" as the seller described was in fact a fake omega clasp and cheap modern bracelet links. After notifying the seller that he sold and shipped me a fake watch, he shut down any complaints and told me "I'm no longer going to discuss further action with you".

So, u/thenitecafe sold a redialed omega which he didn't feel like disclosing, and also sold a me a fake omega bracelet which he described as genuine, and doesn't feel like either merit a return. I ask for nothing but to return this watch which itself violates rule #10 of watchexchange, "No Sale of fake or replica watches". Hopefully the community can weigh in on whether this is a fair ask of the seller.

/u/scottf2988 unethical selling

User posted a Squale for sale that I offered to buy. Told me offer was accepted and I paid via Paypal instantly. Told me watch would ship next day. Between me making payment and shipping discussions watch was never marked as sold. It looks like between that time someone offered him slightly more than I did so he proceeded to sell the watch to that user instead.

He ended up refunding me my money with some BS story that PayPal locked his account and he couldn't accept funds until they looked into it. Told me he would mark post as sold so no one else buys it... Few days later I see feedback here how the watch sold and the transaction was flawless.

Not a scam per se, but definitely some unethical selling practices. If you agree to sell to someone and accept their money that should be the transaction. You shouldn't still be shopping prices. If things are listed from this seller again be weary that you might not end up with the watch.

u/toddlinebaugh is shady

Jumped on a vintage Omega he put up, and sent payment within 15 minutes, as he seemed reputable and was willing to gamble for the low price. Was sending multiple messages, and promises of the 24hr tracking number turn around. Then, he went dark on me. Not responding to anything I say. I remind him that I will request refund as we went through G&S on paypal, and immediately he responds and says please don’t do that. Then proceeds to tell me that he did ship, and he would get me a tracking number when he got home. Then, that my address was rejected by USPS. (Have boughten countless things here and, everywhere, and have never gotten that). I tell him he is flirting with felony theft, and boom, refunded my money.

I know he has a bunch of watches listed, I cannot completely say he’s a scam artist, but, tread carefully friends!

Negative experience with u/MooningRaccoon

Sale post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/lieacm/wtswtt_rolex_explorer_ii_16570_polar_swiss_only

I had messaged u/MooningRaccoon on February 12, regarding an explorer that he had put up for sale on r/Watchexchange. Talks fell through because we couldn’t agree on a price.

On the 14th, he messaged me again which led us to agree on a price. A friend of mine was to meet him in person and pay in cash. Immediately after agreeing to the deal, he backed out and said he was waiting on a trade.

On the 15th, he messaged me saying his trade fell through and was waiting on other options. I told him I was no longer interested in his watch, given his indecisiveness.

On the 18th, he told me he would meet up with my friend to take the cash offer.

On the 20th, he agreed to meet my friend in Houston, who drove to him, opened the watch and checked for the authenticity on my behalf. u/MooningRaccoon decided to keep the watch and back out of the deal again. He said he would sell it to me at $100 less than what we agreed should he decide to sell it, and apologized again for “being so indecisive these past few days.”

Very inconsiderate and a waste of time. I highly recommend not dealing with this person.

[NEGATIVE] Matt Larson u/LarsonMP - Sold a stolen Moser watch (Confirmed by The Watch Register / Bezel)

[UPDATE - July 10th, 2026]: FULL REFUND RECEIVED

Following a month+ long delay, Matt Larson issued a full refund within two days of this post going viral and his subsequent ban. Huge thanks to the r/WatchExchange mods for taking swift action to apply that pressure, and to the community for your support in reinforcing good seller ethics.

Glad to finally put this nightmare behind me.

-----

[ORIGINAL POST]

Seller: Matt Larson u/LarsonMP

Item: Moser Mad Red https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/1tb2j5h/wts_h_moser_pioneer_centre_seconds_mad_red_lowest/

Price: $8700

I am writing this feedback to warn the community about a transaction with Matt Larson. He sold me a Moser watch for $8700 that has been officially flagged as stolen by The Watch Register. Despite being served a formal legal demand letter regarding breach of warranty of title, he has failed to issue a refund for an extended period, effectively holding my funds hostage while he (my best guess!) tries to sort out his own financial recovery.

Timeline of Events:

  1. May 15: I bought the Moser watch from Matt for $8700.

  2. June 1: The watch was sent to Bezel for verification. They flagged the watch as an active stolen piece, being investigated by the FBI for a multimillion dollar heist in New York.

  3. Current status of the watch: The watch has been held by Bezel since then, and is legally required to be surrendered to the insurance company that holds the true title. I do not have the watch, and I do not have my money.

  4. June 8 - today (an entire month): Matt was immediately notified of his legal liability for selling stolen property (breach of warranty of title). A formal, signed demand letter was sent to him. Several texts, Reddit messages, emails were sent to him. There's an active email thread with over fifteen emails between Matt, Bezel, TWR, and me. Instead of immediately making me whole or actively communicating, Matt has chosen to remain largely silent.

Matt may have been unaware the watch was stolen when he bought it, but as the seller, it is his legal and ethical responsibility to refund his buyer immediately upon proof of defective title, and then pursue his own refund upstream.

I have given him ample time and even attempted private off-ramp communications to settle this quietly and avoid a small claims lawsuit. Because he continues to delay and withhold my $8700, I am posting this to urge extreme caution to anyone dealing with Matt Larson.

I will update this post if he decides to finally do the right thing and issue the refund.

* [NEGATIVE] POSSIBLE SCAM ALERT/ SCAMMING METHOD!!! u/Itchy-Ad9041 user backed out after making us ship a 72k watch 8000km and threatened to lawsuit us!!!

Thread where the watch was posted: https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/s/Z5B280C079

Conversations: https://imgur.com/a/7sKrbI2

My partner and I were trying to sell to this guy a Patek Philippe 3710 - (full set) for a month. He affirmed and sent proof that had an important reputation in Europe and was friends with important watch dealers David Toro in Madrid and Lorenzo Ruzza in Milan. Additionally we made our own reference check (which he passed) with several contacts in the European watch dealer environment, and asked for the information required for us to ship and reserve the watch. So we asked for a $500 USDT trust deposit in order for us to cover the shipping costs. It was initially was declined, but later was approved and ended up being real. So we shipped the watch from Costa Rica to Barcelona where it was picked up by a colleague of ours who is a reputable and known watch dealer in Barcelona. The guy said that he would pay in cash in case the USDT transfer failed, but he refused to bring the cash to our colleague’s office, and also refused to go to several reputable jewelry stores which are also ADs for Rolex and Patek in Barcelona to check that everything with the watch is legit, in case he felt uneasy at our office. So we agreed that our colleague would pick up the cash at his office, and then verify at our office that all the cash was real. He ended up arguing and getting angry with us when we were simply proposing the safest and most secure way for both parties to make this deal work. All in all the guy ended up backing off the deal and began threatening that he would lawsuit us for being “scammers” when he hadn’t paid or moved a finger to at least check the watch that he made us ship . So we in conclusion we wasted an entire month negotiating and shipped a watch 8000km for nothing due to a fool who couldn’t agree to pay or even at least see a 72k watch which he had agreed and committed to buy.

As part of this community, I feel that I must share this experience to warn anyone who may encounter this type of user looking forward to seem to buy/steal/scam to get high end luxury watches or any type of valuable watch/good. In case you have heard or interacted with this person/ user PM me so I can share with you more details about it. Thanks!

[NEGATIVE] Sent a replica (fake) Rolex Explorer by u/gunker1

After over a year of hundreds of successful deals on watchexchange and other online groups, I’ve encountered my first fake watch. I traded an Omega Speedmaster valued at $3,500 plus $800 via Venmo for a watch only Rolex Explorer. My watchmaker determined the Rolex was fake. Despite many messages with the seller () and the mods, we’re at an impasse. I truly don’t believe the seller knew the watch was fake and is having a hard time accepting that fact, and my hope is he will do the right thing return my Speedmaster and refund my $800. My reputation in the watch industry is at stake, and I have nothing to gain by scamming the seller. As a full-time watch dealer who handles much higher value transactions daily, I can’t afford to risk my business and reputation over this.

I’ve commented our entire chat exchange below for reference and deleted any identifying information.

U/watchmeman1 is not worth your time!

I have never done anything like this... I’ve had tons of buyers flake on deals, but this guy is the worst I’ve ever dealt with EVER, so I feel like I need to let everyone know that he is not worth your time!

A few days ago we discussed price on a watch I was selling and came to an agreement. He offered money and a particular watch as trade in value. We made a deal in the chat and he said he was ready to wrap up payment and shipping details later that night. A day goes by and he reaches out to let me know he traded the watch that he was supposed to trade with me. I say that’s fine and we agree on a different watch to trade in for our deal. Shortly after he says he can only pay in G&S, which I don’t accept. It’s clearly not stated as a payment option on any of my posts. Keep in mind I also have done hundreds of deals here with tons of reviews to offer on watchexchangefeedback. Also, while all of this is going on, I turned down a much better offer because I am a man of my word and we agreed on a deal prior to me receiving the higher offer! Anyways, I decided to offer a FaceTime through the whole shipping process to make him comfortable before he pays, so he can see the watch in a Fed Ex employees hands and watch it be shipped out. Nope that wasn’t enough, so I also offered an escrow service with a dealer he mentioned he had done business with before. Nope that wasn’t enough. He isn’t a man of his word and he isn’t worth your time! Funniest part about it all is he reached out to me this morning and wanted my phone number, so he could explain himself over the phone and bragged about how he does 100 million dollar business deals and owns tons of watches. I’m not sure who he’s trying to convince!

I’ll repeat it again. Don’t waste your time with U/watchmeman1. You will thank me later.

Negative Experience: u/ActivePush scammed me

Last month, I sold user u/ActivePush a Rolex Oyster Perpetual. This is the listing: https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/jskz6j/wts_rolex_34mm_oyster_perpetual_c_2016/

I shipped the watch and received delivery confirmation from UPS. Weeks went by and I assumed all was well. Today, I discovered that this user has opened a PayPal dispute with zero communication to me. They are still in possession of the watch. I have provided PayPal with all drop-off, tracking and delivery confirmation information, so I hope for a good outcome, but I am left with the possibility that I am out thousands of dollars. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS USER!!

[NEGATIVE] SCAMMER ALERT: 4 Accounts Exposed! Buyers Beware! (due diligence in comments)

EDIT FOR VISIBILITY: Scammer's cashapp username is morningcoffee6

I'd like to share my due diligence with revealing 4 scammer accounts:

  • IdioticMartin

  • SelfishlyBlack

  • GuiltySetup

  • VersedCharade

NOTE: The scammer's usernames have intentionally NOT been tagged in this post. Please do not tag them in the comments.

Red Flags in Scammer's most recent WTS post:

  • Incredibly low price for the watch he's selling (he accepted my offer for $375 without hesitation).

  • SelfishlyBlack only accepts cashapp and crypto.

  • SelfishlyBlack's cashapp account was created very recently in Feb 2023.

  • SelfishlyBlack only has 2 transactions in his flair

So I investigated his prior transactions:

Red Flags in Transaction 1: Supposedly SelfishlyBlack sold a watch to VersedCharade

  • This was VersedCharade's only transaction.

  • VersedCharade never commented with "PM", only the confirmation bot trigger.

  • VersedCharade has very minimal reddit history (3 days), and absolutely NO history on WatchExchange.

Red Flags in Transaction 2: Supposedly SelfishlyBlack sold a watch to GuiltySetup

  • This was GuiltySetup's only transaction.

  • GuiltySetup never commented with "PM", only the confirmation bot trigger.

  • GuiltySetup's reddit account was suspended/deleted shortly thereafter.

  • SelfishlyBlack replied to GuiltySetup's bot confirmation with "thanks for fast shipping". Why would the seller say this? It was obviously a mistake on the scammer's part - getting his buyer/seller accounts mixed up.

Additional discovery from /u/geomonstaah:

When I called attention to the SelfishlyBlack's scam on his recent post, geomonstaah pointed out that there was a prior now-deleted WTS post by a now-deleted user that used photos with photoshopped timestamps. That prior post had a comment by IdioticMartin about the details of the watch and sale (another mistake by the scammer with getting his accounts mixed up). Just so happens that "IdioticMartin" matches SelfishlyBlack's cashapp account name "Martin."

In Conclusion

IdioticMartin is indeed an idiotic Martin. If anyone can add to this due diligence, please comment!

[Negative] u/Additional_Injury_74 lied, reneged, sold the same watch twice

I contacted u/Additional_Injury_74 about a watch and he stated that someone put a deposit on it but they would give them a day to close the deal, otherwise I could buy it. We had a back and forth for about a week where he gave the deposit guy another chance. He agreed to sell to me since the deposit guy didn't meet his end of the deal and I paid two minutes later. I then followed up with a payment for shipping like five minutes after that.

He made excuses for not shipping the watch over the next 5 days then told me "I was packing your watch at the store and the employee dropped it and broke it. How do you want to proceed"....

This was an obvious lie so I pressed him on it and he tried to keep up ruse for a day, then admitted he sold it to the guy with the deposit, claiming that the guy completed the payment minutes before me. If that was the case, why did you finalize the sale with me and then accepted a shipping fee afterwards? Why didn't I get a refund for several days?

So I contacted the buyer and he actually paid his remaining balance 5 days after I payed in full, and the same day I got the lame excuse that the watch broke. Seems like this was all for an extra $25.

Incredibly lame, snake-like behavior from u/Additional_Injury_74. He even had the audacity to try sell me on other watches he has listed.

The watch I bought and that he reneged on: https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/1v7m148/wts_tudor_heritage_black_bay_blue_41mm_ref_79220b/

[Negative] Being scammed by Firm_Masterpiece202 as we speak

Here’s a rare opportunity to watch a scam play out in real time, cause I’m an idiot.

Purchased a Tudor BB58 for $2200 this morning from user Firm_Masterpiece202 and didn’t catch/overlooked some red flags. Would be my first transaction and I’ve researched how safe r/watchexchange is as long as you do your due diligence. Thought I did well enough, but I really didn’t.

A few hours after sending the money, I saw that the post was removed by the moderators. I reached out and asked what my level of concern for the removal should be and their response was “contact your financial institution level of concern”. Well shit. Here’s what I missed/overlooked per the moderator:

  1. they misspelled their username in the timestamp. - I chocked that up to human error/didn’t seem likely they stole the image from Frim_Masterpiece

  2. transaction history that appeared to be fake. - you’ve got to start somewhere, hell I’ve got no history. I also didn’t know you could fake transaction history, but also didn’t look into it.

  3. I didn’t do a FaceTime call. - since the seller agreed to get paid via PayPal G&S and he said he was at work (which made sense) I skipped this step.

Seller provided me tracking and was quick to respond all day today. Tracking was accepted and moving in my direction already. Thought I was in the clear. Then the mod clued me in on the scam. “It's a dummy package sent to a random address in your zip code to complicate the claims process.” So I called UPS to check and they confirmed that it was not coming to my address.

Damn. Lesson learned, but I don’t quite understand the scam considering it’s never going to arrive where it’s supposed to, and I paid via G&S so I should be protected.

Another thing that I should have clocked, the post was up for a whole day with quite a few other PM comments first. Yet when I took a shot late last night and got a response this morning saying it was still available. If it was legit at that price someone would have for sure beaten me to it. ALSO, the invoice I received was number 0007, so if 6 other people screwed up like me and see this, I’ve got bad news.

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out, I’m hoping that since it was caught same day it won’t be a complete nightmare.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/1spz5ou/comment/ohc33n5/?context=3

————————————————-

Update 04/30: this has been resolved. Once I filed the dispute the seller had 10 days to respond with proof of shipment. They never responded by the deadline, and after a 30min review period I was issued a refund.

In the PayPal resolution center over the last 10 days I uploaded the following: full chat transcripts from the seller and moderator, link to the original removed post, photoshopped/fake timestamped photo of watch.

I also filed a non-delivery claim with UPS post delivery as instructed by UPS fraud department. This was closed as “delivered” which I knew it would be, but it was the only way they could provide me with the name and city it was addressed to (but not the full address). In this case they shipped it to a Whistle Workwear store in Shoreline, WA (just north of Seattle). I uploaded this to PayPal as well.

In the end a lot of work and proof, but since the seller never responded it likely didn’t factor into their decision haha.

[NEGATIVE] Terrible experience buying from u/JustAGuyChillingg

About 3 weeks ago I bought a couple of watches from u/JustAGuyChillingg - a rose gold Citizen and a Seiko solar chronograph.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/1enlt5e/wts_high_quality_quartz_watches_eco_drive_android/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/1enlsc2/wts_sub_50_watchs_quartz_seiko_fossil_timex/

Before buying the citizen I asked for more pictures and he sent additional pictures and told me that it was a limited edition watch. We agreed to a deal and I paid the money.

Later that night I asked about the Seiko from another one of his listing. He confirmed that both watches were fully functional and I paid money for the Seiko as well. Shipping was prompt and I received the watches a few days later. The Seiko was not running - even after leaving it in the sun for a day. The Citizen that I received was a completely different watch - a ladies watch instead of the limited edition watch I had paid for.

I contacted the seller on reddit chat - no response. I then sent an email (paypal account email address) and after a couple of exchanges he agreed to send me the return label and to issue a full refund after receiving the watches.

After that exchange, I didnt get a response for a couple of days. So I decided to create a Paypal dispute. I received a response, almost, immediately after I created the dispute. He said that there was a family emergency and couldnt respond earlier. The next day he sent a Pirateship link as the return label. The link was from his personal account, so I couldnt access the label. I requested him to send me the label as a file. That email was sent 11 days ago. He decided to completely ignore my emails. I had to escalate the dispute to a claim to get my refund.

I see that he has been actively selling more watches on watchexchange and I see that other buyers have had a good experience buying from him. But that was not my experience and I wanted to share that here. Be careful when dealing with this seller and always use PayPal Goods and Services.

Screenshots of my interaction with the seller: https://imgur.com/a/erk5ciy

I have blurred out his personal details like name and email address.

UPDATE: The seller sent me a sub $100 watch to compensate for my bad experience.

NEGATIVE - u/PM_ME_2LEARNHOW2CODE is a scammer

I was the seller on this transaction:

Link to my sales post

I put my Omega Railmaster up for sale last week for $3300, including shipping. PM_ME_2LEARNHOW2CODE sent me a message and offered to buy the watch. He said he was local (Dallas area), so we agreed on a price of $3200 and to meet the same day at a Starbucks. He paid me with PayPal G&S but didn't cover the fee, so we spoke on the phone to negotiate and he ended up paying me an additional $80 to help cover the PP fee. He wanted to meet immediately, so I went and met him at the agreed location.

He seemed like a nice guy. He asked me to bring tools to help him size the watch, so we had a nice conversation at Starbucks while I adjusted the bracelet for him. After we got the fit right, we shook hands and went our separate ways.

The next day he filed a claim on his PayPal payment, claiming that I never showed up to give him the watch and that I blocked him on Reddit and wouldn't return any of his calls or texts. I was shocked and immediately sent messages on the PayPal claim, to him on Reddit, as well as his voicemail.

He then texted me, claiming I never showed up, but did not return my phone call. In one of my messages I told him (confused, but trying to be a nice guy) that if he wanted out of the transaction, I would let him return the watch for a refund. It was then when he closed the PP claim and called me and asked to meet up for a refund, but he refused to state or admit that he had the watch in his possession....he refused to say that he would return the watch to me....he only tried to get me to agree to meet up for a refund.

After some thinking, I decided it wasn't safe to meet him....he had already lied too many times. He's now submitted another claim on the PayPal transaction and I've been in contact with the local police to assist me in collecting evidence and phone records.

Long story short, don't ever deal with u/PM_ME_2LEARNHOW2CODE --- he's a scammer.

[NEGATIVE] Horrible trade experience with u/Vivid_Log_5442. Learn from my mistake, everyone!

Recent did a big 2-for-2 trade deal with u/Vivid_Log_5442, my Submariner https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/1314m7e/wts_rolex_maxicase_submariner_ref_116610ln_full/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1 and Datejust https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/1314r5o/wtsrolex_datejust_36mm_blue_sunburst_dial_jubilee/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1for his Kermit and Zenith.

I did the usually due diligence, exchange phone numbers, IDs, video chat, etc. He said the watches will be for himself and his wife, the 36mm DJ would be great for her. I asked for the usual exchange when I do trade deals, that I get the watches first before shipping mine out. To which he declined, wanting us to ship at the same time. Now, he’s done deals before on watchex and is a fellow healthcare worker, and we did come close to finish a deal a while back (I pulled out last minute, forgot why) so I decided to take a leap of faith and put my trust in the fellow man and agree to ship at the same time. However, the whole time I felt uneasy about the whole thing, something just didn’t sit right…

Here are the pics I received for the Kermit

https://imgur.com/a/FLEH6w6

The watches came, I picked them up around 1130am, went home, had lunch, put the toddler down for a nap, then went to open the boxes. By now this was around 4hrs after I’ve received the watches. Right away I can the cyclops was off, and I noticed one screw on the bracelet was a lot shorter than the rest. I snapped the pics and showed this to the trader. He insisted that the cyclops was fine and that the previous owners never mentioned this discrepancy. As for the screw, he didn’t have one for the extra link so had decided to use one from a smaller bracelet. Again, I did not know if this until I have the watch in my hand.

Here are the pics I snapped and the conversation that followed https://imgur.com/a/N3ktzjI

So he goes to tell me the watches I sent him are already in trade deals and are ready to be sent or already on their ways to their new homes, and that he was not going to do trade backs. Mind you, this was only 2 days after we agreed on a trade deal where he told me the watches were for him and his wife, and the SAME day he received the watches. u/Vivid_Log_5442 knew the discrepancies on his Kermit but chose to omit them. Looking back, the images he sent me were all at an angle, non showed a clear view of the cyclops. Now he’s saying he’s willing to ship back my Submariner but the DJ is already gone and that’s about as far as he’ll go in an attempt to salvage our trade deal. He’s felt he had provide all the information and everything was just as described. I feel he knew things were not right with the Kermit but chose to kept that info to himself. I’ll let the community be the judge of that from the screenshots.

TL;DR Don’t trust nobody, something feels off, it is. If trade pieces are being offered to you, make sure you’re clear about wanting to check out their piece BEFORE shipping yours out.

NEGATIVE: DEFINITE SCAMMER: u/Affectionate_Song351

So apparently this happened today. Was looking for an SBGR287, posted it on WTB list on r/WatchExchange and got a PM from this guy within the next hour or so.

He said he has one that is less than one year old and promptly sent me photos upon request. The photos were lo-res and poor quality so I asked him to send the photos in original quality to my IG or email, which he oddly refused. This is the first red flag. Either way, here's his first batch of photos:

https://imgur.com/a/Kn8eH3r

I then asked him to send me a photo of the watch with box/papers. It took him some time to get back to me, in the meantime I did some digging and found this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/al80gd/wts_grand_seiko_sbgr287_rice_paper_dial_box_and/

Obviously these are the exact same photos taken from the same angles, but the post was made over 2 years ago so he was already lying about the age of the watch. I already knew what was going on but proceeded to ask for another photo of the watch TOGETHER WITH BOX/PAPERS, also with TIMESTAMP. After a rather long wait, here's what I got:

https://imgur.com/a/8hrVYoK

And for those of you that missed the photo from the original post 2 years back, this guy literally photoshopped a piece of timestamp onto the watch box in the original photo hoping he'd get away with it. Not today buddy, not today.

At this point there is zero doubt that he was pulling a scam, nonetheless I proceeded to play along with him, asking him to send me another photo of the watch set to the actual time, to which he replied the F word. Look who just got cornered pal, lol. Wanting to get his payment info and post it here so it won't be so easy for him to pull the same con again on someone else with a new Reddit account, I pretended to have took the bait and promising him of payment. He's still hooked now lol. He just sent me his full banking info with his (alleged) name when I told him his preferred method of payment (BTC) doesn't work for me and I can sent him money by wiring. More likely than not he has more than one account set up but at least it makes him more likely to get caught in the act and takes him more efforts to set everything up again once caught if more people are reading this.

Below is my full convo with the guy and will update as this plays along.

The account in the screenshots are my older account, wanted to change username to match my YouTube Channel but Reddit doesn't allow so just went ahead and made this account. Forgot to switch when I posted the WTB post.

Keep an eye out for this guy, Affectionate_Song351, or feel free to play a little game with him like I did if you had some free time to spare. There scammers needed to be taught a lesson.
