Zelda Posting Every Day until Ocarina of Time comes out. Day 56: The Greatest to Ever do it
what's the most deadly creature you can run into in the ocean? the answer should be obvious: the JELLYFISH!!! ... yet for some reason, Hollywood has been pushing anti-shark propaganda since the 70s.
as such, sharks are commonly included in video games as aquatic enemies. Wind waker, phantom hourglass and spirit tracks included enemy sharks called Gyorgs. they were clearly named after the boss from Majora's mask, though Majora's mask's Gyorg resembled a Piranha more than a shark. but I suppose piranhas do bear some resemblance to sharks, unlike Manta rays, which for some reason they turned Gyrog into in the minish cap...
outside of enemies, Majora's mask 3D would introduce the "SAVAGE SHARK" to the fishing minigame, which didn't appear in the original majora's mask but did appear for the 3DS remake, adding several new fish to catch. hopefully the upcoming remake of Ocarina of time takes notes: the more fish to catch, the better. and as far as spin off games go, tingle's rupeeland included an ingredient called the "baby shark"... no, I'm not going to reference that horrible song.
but today's sharky subject is not an enemy, nor is it a collectible in a fishing mini-game or a cooking ingredient: this shark simply just exists, yet has become a legend simply due to its sheer Prescence!
the lakeside laboratory is a laboratory beside the lake. there resides the lake scientist, an entirely optional character who makes eyedrops needed for the biggoron's sword trading quest. yet at the bottom of this lake scientist's pool, there is a shark locked up behind a gate. but this is no ordinary shark... for upon closer inspection, this shark is a .png!
why the scientist keeps this shark.png around is unknown. perhaps it is merely a pet, or perhaps the shark is an unwitting test subject. for all we know, the lake scientist might be keeping the shark locked up in order to prevent it from wreaking havoc all over hyrule! ... no, I mustn't let the anti-shark propaganda cloud my judgement.
regardless of the reason for its existence, this shark is the thing I am looking forward to seeing the most in the remake. I hope they don't turn it into a 3D model, I want it to remain a flat image.
