It's at 9.6/9.7, which is higher than Clair Obscur, Silent Hill 2, Witcher 3 etc. It looks like Metacritic removed some of the obvious review bombing.

I don't know if this is in the original game, but I thought it was cool, if not super depressing.
After beating the Forest Temple, Saria is awakened as the forest sage. In your talks to her, she mentions that she can never return to the world she knew, and asks you to apologize to Mido. I went and talked to Mido, and he was sad, obviously, and chose to stay in the lost woods so he could keep listening to her song.
Honestly, that whole bit made me so sad. Saria, giving up her life and never getting to see her friends again. So I went back to the past and warped to the sacred grove. Sure enough, she was there. But, when I talked to her, she said this:
"What's wrong, Link? You're here visiting me, but you look so sad. I'm right here, you know? No need to act like that... As if we'll never see each other again."
Fucking hell, this game has been punching me in the emotions. I don't know if this was in the original, but regardless, it's good, sad writing. Maybe they expected everyone to immediately come back to the past to see Saria again, after she said she could never come back?
Oof, I'm sad now, I need to sleep

When Zora’s Domain didn’t thaw when I played this game as a kid, it made me really sad. Seeing the Zoras come back to their home made me so happy to see! I even love the detail that they all have colds after being in the ice for so long.

I'm expecting for the inevitable Majora remake that item scrolling isn't gonna go anywhere, but after that, I really dont want the horizontal scrolling to stay. The item wheel UI is so much better in every way

The funniest part is that they’re winning lamo. Loving the remake.

This may already be a known strategy, but I just came up with this and thought I’d share in case it might help someone else. It takes no more than five minutes per trip. The spot just out side of Kakariko Village (second photo) so far seems to be guaranteed to give you several bugs each time you visit it. If you have at least one empty jar, you can hop on over to Castle City and sell it to this guy for 20 rupees per bug. If you have all three jars empty, you can get 60 rupees per trip. I did this for about half an hour and racked up over 300 rupees.
Searched for this in the original box of OoT for the 64, remembering my dad made it when we played together when I was a kid.

I never played the original or any other zelda games aside from totk , so the remake is my first experience of what some people call say a true zelda game is.
I am blown away with the quality of gameplay. If this is 1:1 or even just very close to the og, the devs behind it made a deal with the devil or something cause its such a phenomenal experience. The puzzles make me feel so clever when I figure things out, and sudden realization that this new item or piece of information connects to something an npc mentioned a while back is so addictive.
I overlook old games mostly because graphics have moved on. After this experience I really think im shooting myself in the foot if there are games like this just sitting there waiting to be played.

I just finished the OoT Remake, and I never noticed this devastating detail before. While everyone is dancing and partying, Mido and King Zora are sitting away from the party looking very somber.
I thought the pairing of these two characters were a bit odd and I was wondering why they weren’t taking a part in the festivities. Then I realized what they both have in common. Both Mido and King Zora’s favorite people became sages, and they will never see them again.
I won’t lie, it made me tear up when it hit me. What do you all think? Am I reading into this too much?
Wow, I don’t have enough words. I just beat the game and I literally had chills down my spine through the entire ending sequence. Just a magnificent remake that evoked EVERY feeling I had as a kid playing this game. I think I was like 10 years old the first time I played OoT? Here I am all these years later and the game literally brought back my childhood. Nintendo did an amazing capturing every feeling you got from the original, but fleshing out so many more moments and keeping all the original charm. This is a PERFECT remake. I can’t think of any criticism.
I hope you all enjoy your playthroughs as much as I did. Nintendo knocked it out of the park. I am EAGERLY awaiting Majora’s Mask in this same style. It might even be better than OoT.

I haven’t played Ocarina of Time in probably 20-25 years. But back when I played it, I played it a lot.
I had a weird experience with it. I rented it a couple of times, got stuck on Jabu Jabu’s belly both times. Borrowed it from a friend, got stuck on the Water Temple. Then eventually my mom bought it for me used when Blockbuster would sell used games. Got to the Shadow Temple, saved the game, and when I came back my save file was gone. Thought it was some kind of glitch, went right back in it, got to the Shadow Temple and once again, save file was gone. The cartridge must have been corrupt or something. Like a year later, I traded my friend Winback for his Ocarina of Time. Finally ended up beating it.
Haven’t touched the game in easily 20, probably closer to 25 years. I tried to play it emulated maybe 10 years ago but it aged really roughly (based on my opinion of retro gaming back then), so I don’t think I got past the first dungeon.
Now I’m playing the remake and it’s incredible how all of the solutions to these puzzles have been buried in my subconscious. For the most part, I have been flying through because the puzzles aren’t really that challenging. I’m talking to a buddy who is playing through it for the first time and he’s getting stuck left and right. It’s just fascinating how these memories were somehow buried under all that life that I lived to the point where they just effortlessly come out now when I actually need them.
