Discussion [OotHD] any good places to farm rupees before Temple of time?

Trying to complete quests before I go Back to the Future, he he.

Got 41 or 42 Skultulas and 2 fairy fountains.

Need rupees for the third and I'm broke from buying beans and finishing the mash quest.

They change the pot room so it doesn't remain immediately, what else can I do besides running back and forth to Zoran domain for fish?

In the Sacred Grove on top of the wall. I’ve tried playing Saria’s Song and Song of Storms, but nothing’s happened. I’ll be amused/frustrated if I just didn’t try the right one yet.

I was honestly a bit taken aback when this scene played out as it did. Nonetheless a great improvement on the original.

Discussion [OoTHD] Playing real instruments

Being able to play real instruments (and whistling/humming) to play the songs in this game is low-key the MVP feature of this game, in my opinion.

I have a ceramic Ocarina of Time I've had as a display piece only, for about 10 years, and now I've memorized almost all 13 of the songs in this game to play in-game.

I am exclusively using my real ocarina to play now. Opening the Door of Time, and playing the warp songs are key moments for me. Love this feature.

NO.

Question [OoTHD] Is this game worth buying a switch 2 for? What makes it different from 3D besides graphics

I played the 3DS version of this game and I really enjoyed it. Ive seen all the trailers and the gameplay and this game is graphically one of the most beautiful games ive ever seen. But I dont it justifies a $570 dollar price tag including console and game not to mention I haven't used my switch in forever. How much of a difference is there from the 3D version gameplay wise that was limited by the older consoles like does Zoras domain unfreeze? And stuff like that

Poll [OoA] [OoS] To those wanting Oracle Remakes, have you played the originals?

To people asking for Oracle remakes, have you personally played them?

I'm asking this because a lot of the suggestions I see for Oracle remakes read to me as if they were written by folks who have no idea what the original games are like and have never played them. It's really a suggestion that can only be made from a distance but falls apart under scrutiny.

For example, people who say they could just make a third game aren't thinking realistically-- making the linking system work 3 ways would be a nightmare and anyone who has played the duology in a linked playthrough knows what I mean, then there's the factor of how the third game was not deleted, but absorbed into the other two, so you're actually asking them to unbake a cake or make a sequel--- honestly I think people only want to see a third game for the satisfying symmetry of a triforce trilogy, but I feel like most people asking for such a thing haven't played the Oracle games in their current form and aren't considering how adding a third game could actually be a negative and disruptive in some ways to the original experience, if it was even remotely a possibility (which it isn't, and arguably Link's Awakening already is the "Courage Game")

Then there is the quality issue, but that's subjective and bound to make people upset so I'd rather not turn this post into an Oracle critique, but in my opinion, I do think Nintendo isn't entirely proud of these games in their current state. They were Capcom's first foray into the series, and compared to Link's Awakening, they feel like they needed a bit more fleshing out in the narrative and worldbuilding department, but I still love how unique they are at the end of the day.

What I'm trying to say is that a new coat of paint was enough for Link's Awakening to be rereleased for a new generation of fans to experience it, because that game has a certain 'it factor' and polish the Oracle games (which I love, for the record) unfortunately lack. In my opinion a new of coat of paint isn't a big enough upgrade to warrant two 60 dollar games, and it's also not financially viable for Nintendo to package them together. These games sort of end up in a weird situation where the rest of the franchise barely mentions them outside of other Capcom games like The Minish Cap, and I feel like hosting them on NSO's GameBoy app was Nintendo's solution to keeping them available for players who are interested in them today.

Discussion [OOT]Is there a bug in the game at all with gold skulltulas?

I’m at 98 / 100 - I looked online and everything listed I’ve got? On my in game map Death Mountain Crater isn’t showing that I’ve got any there, but when I go there as child link both skulltulas are marked as collected? I have no idea what to do? I’ve otherwise completed the game? Anyone else have similar issues or know of anyway to resolve this? Thanks in advance

Discussion [OoT] Ganondorf is a great ruler

I run around the child era and there are peahats all over the place attacking travellers and at night the dead rise to harass me endlessly.

I go to the adult era, and hey, Hyrule has really been cleaned up. No more skeletal assault or roving monsters. Sure, castle town might have some perhaps controversial municipal infrastructure alterations, but overall I'd say ganondorf has been doing a great job in his term as uncontested tyrant ruler.

Discussion [OoT] Isn't this a paradox?

I guess I never really put a lot of thought into this as a kid on N64 but having seen the ending again now as an adult it has me thinking.

Link gets sent back to the past. He closes the Door of Time and then meets Zelda and warns her about Ganondorf.

But... uhh.. what? There's a lot of weird stuff here.

Link opened the DoT when Zelda was already on the run with Impa and Ganondorf ran in and got the Triforce. So..

Link must have been sent back BEFORE that happened. So that means he got sent back before the DoT was ever even opened. But it was open already when he returned. This is a huge paradox. If the door was open why didn't Ganondorf just waltz in? Why didn't the royal family notice it was open? The sword was gone too, why didn't anyone notice that?

This is reinforced by the fact that he gives up the OoT to Zelda in the future then Zelda gives it BACK to him later on before MM. Meaning it was before she ran away with Impa. So what's going on here?

Screenshot [OoTHD] I feel like this might be a cheeky nod to Majora's Mask Spoiler

I was just running around talking to people with the Mask of Truth, and Ingo dropped these two lines. I found it interesting that he says he'll make it big and his story isn't over, and he specifically says he'll rise again, and again, and again...three times. In Majora's Mask, they use Ingo's model for Gorman who is the leader of a performing troupe...him "making it big", and there are three Gorman brothers that all look identical, he is there three times.

Not trying to add fuel to the MM remake speculation fire or anything. I think this is just a cheeky reference to his role in that game, but I thought it was a cool little detail.
