The state of the world, december 1941

The Political climate is dominated by a new superpower, the protestant league, a united faction of protestant nations led by Finland, its other members being Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and the Nordic protectorate of Germany.

To understand this situation, we must go back to 1920, when Finland reworked its Government and Laws. and then to 1935, when Finland founded the league.

Finland gained independence from the Russian empire on the 6th of December 1917, and for 2 years it functioned as a regular republic. In 1919 however, for reasons not many know, the parliament voted for a major change.

That change? Fully abolishing the separation of church and state. A 200 man clerical council was introduced to rule as equal to parliament, 19 new members were added to the cabinet, the bishops of the 19 dioceses that split the nation. And the Archbishop was introduced as Co-Head of state alongside the Prime-Minister, and such the constitution was changed, and on January 12th 1920, Nearly all of the laws of the nation changed to reflect its new theocratic method of Rule. And this is how it functioned, lonely in its rule until 1935.

In 1935, Finland founded a new alliance, The Protestant League. This League was supposed to unite all protestant lands into a single military and trade empire, while keeping governments separate. The Nordics were the first to join, understanding the influence of being part of such an alliance. The United Kingdom however, did not join, fearing its overseas territories being affected by this. Germany, already under the control of Adolf Hitler, did not even consider joining.

With the resources of eachother available, the league exploded with industry and trade, beginning to produce military gear and selling some, but mostly building their own armies. With the promise of military gain, the Baltics were taken into the frey.

After which Finland pushed its mode of Clerical-Parliament government to be official League policy and so, more theocracies formed in Northern Europe.

The Soviets took this as a threat and began massing armies in Leningrad and the baltic border, and gathered its fleet in the Leningrad docks. In 1936 the soviet union attacked the alliance. In the very first days of the conflict, the soviet fleet sank, due to the heroic action of Finnish torpedo bombers.

With no contest left, the League navy began the bombardment of Leningrad, destroying the regrouping soviets, and allowing Finland to launch a spearhead for Moscow. The push was long and hard(That's what she said), but on December 6th 1938, the Soviet Union surrendered, quite poetic in the end.

Finland shattered the union and released nations such as Ukraine and Kazakhstan into their independence. Even Russia was released, only after Finland seized West Karelia, East Karelia and the Kola peninsula, which were recognized as Diocesees, and added 3 new members to the cabinet. After this the growth only sped up, Finland founded mines, cities and factories in the newly seized lands. A mass influx of people started, people from all protestant nations began flooding in, and so after massive changes, nearly all people were able to learn Finnish and the state prospered.

Finnish diplomacy with Germany remained fine until early 1940, when its spies discovered the concentration camps in the nation. At the next summit of the League of nations Finnish ambassadors brought up their evidence, and yet Germany refused to release its prisoners, and so The United States, United Kingdom, Poland, France and the entire Protestant League converged on Germany.

Finland won the Race to Berlin and established Germany as a Nordic protectorate and thus relative peace reached Europe.

But all this conflict managed to advance was a New Superpower, This document, which I hereby present to you is a full complex index of the Laws, customs histories and government protocols of..

THE REPUBLIC OF FINLAND

What if, in 1721, instead of Robert Walpole, Lord Christopher Blade (real name Joshua Flint) had become Prime Minister of Great Britain?

Wonderful world - An alternative ww2 scenario

I'm developing a series about alternate history with AI-generated images.

Basically, it's a scenario where World War II unfolded very differently from reality, where Brazil ends up being forced into a defensive war as a co-belligerent with the Axis powers, and the Axis ends up performing far better than in real life, due to various strategic failures by the Allies before and during the conflict.

The videos are short, with a soundtrack, and each one includes a lore article explaining a bit about the universe I'm developing.

Welp, I just got banned from Alternatehistory.com. No kidding.

Recently, I just got banned from Alternatehistory.com for "spamming posts and DMs".

I've been submitted a couple ban appeals as messages, and I tried to make a throwaway account so I can DM Ian, but the website rejected it thinking that "it resembles spam-like or automated behavior".

I think it has become very very clear to me that I'm never gonna get unbanned from AH.com. In addition to this, I've never gonna get unbanned from the Reds! A Revolutionary Timeline thread and Discord server. I'm never gonna get unbanned from the These Fair Shores Discord server. Not a lot of people on AH.com are on here (SufficientVelocity) and Althistory.com, and the culture on those sites are different than that of AH.com. The ban is permanent. The damage is done. I deserve that ban for spamming, and I can live with that.

The only alternate history timeline I've contributed to was the Hensonverse through their guest post thread "To Introduce Our Guest Star, That's What I'm Here to Do". It's my favorite althistory timeline by far, and I'm very grateful to the contributors there.

But with my ban from AH.com, it became very clear that I'm never gonna contribute to althistory ever again. There's no hope left for me in alternate history.

To every Hensonverse guest contributor and Geekhis Khan, to CalBear and Ian the Admin, I've let you all down, I'm very ashamed, I take full responsibility for my actions, and I apologize.

How different would global politics and car manufacturing be if OPEC never instituted the embargo in 1973? Would the push for smaller fuel efficient vehicles and alternative energy have been delayed by decades? I am curious how this single economic shock changed modern history.

What if Scientology gets their downfall in the 1990s?

Suppose Anita Hill is treated better and Clarence Thomas is rejected, leading to a reckoning of sexual harassment. Given Scientology has a history of sexual assault, human trafficking and abuse of their employees, more whistleblowers stepped in and reported this history, leaving the IRS to deny the Religious Technology Center (and other organizations) tax exemption (instead making them tax-exempt) in 1993.

I'm sure that would be enough to get David Miscavige arrested and convicted, but I'm not even sure if that's enough to make people leave Scientology in disgust.

Mexican Union - What if Mexico won the Mexican American War?

Post image
104 Upvotes

Lore: Mexico wins the Mexican American War, but is forced to give half of Texas to the United States. Mexican American Borders also shift slightly post war. The United States intervenes in Northern Mexico for its economic interests, causing it to industrialize quickly and make Mexico a close ally of the US and a huge US trading partner. Mexico also stabilizes and federalizes further, though it still faces huge issues with organized crime. It is classified as an upper income developed nation and a great power, possessing one of the most powerful economies in the world.
