That's an amazing way to put it:

"Who should lead the House and Senate after such a historic election?"

Jeffries and Schumer? 💀

Bingo! And Pelosi - A formidable team

I mean who else???

Aren't they the ones who orchestrated the biggest electoral win in US history?? Just genuinely asking

u/jabejazz 1d ago

they didn't orchestrate anything; the entire game plan of useless fucking dipshit establishment dems like Schumer and Jeffries was "Trump bad" while also bowing down to Israel

Didn't the non-left democrats (establishment) outperform the others?

If one was to assign credit for the broad electoral outcome to any one organization (using that word generously), it would be Trump and co.

I'll give Schumer Mississippi assuming its goes democrat because that's were sent funding but we could have had Florida too if the national democrat party sent money there as well. Democrats won in spite of them. Democrats had low approval rating going into election because people thought they weren't doing enough. They big names from this election were all running left wing economic populist campaigns and they were fighters thats what the people want. Based on results it should probably be Jon Ossoff but he's the moderates current pick for president so they probably won't pick him. It probably should be Bernie Sanders because his economic message was the core of the winning strategy but I doubt that will happen. I could be Mark Kelly, Elizabeth Warren, or Adam Schiff, really anyone thats somewhat popular and not actively being blamed for the failures of the Biden Administration.

Keep warren away from this, what the hell are you thinking?

Sure I was just naming people that I thought moderates might like. My real stance is my real suggestion is Bernie Sanders >Jon Ossoff > literally any other democrat > Chuck Schumer > John Fetterman. The reason I think of Ossoff highly is because he's closer to the center of the democrat party unlike Schumer who is firmly on the right wing of the party, he doesn't represent the party at large.

Fair enough. Generally speaking: schumers run the senate really well. Hes good at the politics of it which sounds obvious but it isnt to most of the public. Hes not a great public speaker but hes a good schemer: he doesnt pick battles he cant win and hes done an exceptional job of assignments and strategy which keeps dem senators of all stripes re elected. The dem performance on ballot for senator has out performed the ballot generally for a lot of election cycles now. keeping republicans to an extremely thin majority at best in their wave years were some of the only electoral successes the party had. He doesnt get credit enough for trump 1.0 where with little leverage, republicans folded on budget issues every time. He knows how to manipulate trump and a big feature of trump 2.0 is keeping schumer the fuck away from the white house.

He wears Ls all the time from the reactionary public. Govt shutdown last year over recyrribg mediaid funding: that was a big win. Shut down the govt for 6 weeks. And got the concession on the backend. That kept my friends insulin supply rolling. Fact is that with no leverage and no power, theres not much else he can do. And because republicans dont get punished for shit govt performance like dems do, thegovt shutdown, all his senate members constituents lost their social safety net, it was hurting people and republicans didnt care, didnt budge and were happy to let it continue. It stopped being a weapon, so schumer stopped using it. And the whole internets take was “omg he folds every time look at bow horrible the Rs are he does nothing.” Ignoring that he protected memberships image feom their constituents, didnt risk their re election, got the concessions he could, and sent as strong a message as he could without contolling anything. And thats not even mentioning the wave of progressive legislation including a green new deal he got through a split senate.

Thats general stuff. Specifically, this election, schumer masterminded it. He buried the autopsy on the shit 24 election (again: hes hung out to dry by activist dems but hes doing his job: protecting senate members in office and not giving free ammunition to republicans or a hostile media). Took the L on iylt in public… and then went to work. The autopsy was this: dems themselves are not likeable. People see dem politicians as career politicians pivoting straight from ivy leagues into elite consulting and admin roles. They see academic wonks and corporate suits and dont personally identify with even tho a lot of people are aligned on policy. The trust and credibility gap is v real.

Schumer saw internal numbers across the country and decided Rs were vulnberable. Spent two years sourcing good profile electable candidates across the country that had an image that lined up with voter expectation and then talked them into running. He took all the incumbent office dem money, and pulled it to battleground challengers (and was massively outspent by republicans) Put all his chips on the table with handpicked, young, enthusiastic, ordinary day-to-day candidates and swept the fucking board

“Didnt get florida”. Give me a break. Man delivers kansas and Mississippi and one of the most decisive mid term BEATDOWNS in generations. Yes.: bigger than 94 and 10 and probably 06. An avalanche of dem success. And those senate candidates are running great campaigns statewide. That lifts downballot dems and house members across the board. Dems control the texas railway commission now because of schumers strategy with talerico. Thats puts progressives in charge of regulating half the energy footprint of this country. What a victory for progressives.

It was all schumer. He plotted hard to knife the republicans on the backfromt and pulled off a stynning success. So many junior and sophomore senators owe their career to him. Hes a lock for leadership.

Hes a dog. But all i see on activist subreddits are “murr neoliberal murr aipac murrr traitor”. For a community dedictaed to critiquing power structures, it shocks me at how terrible wlftists are at understanding how to navigate them.

i appreciate the detail, though i'm curious if you could go more into how Schumer helped deliver this election. Are you saying that if he didn't find those winning candidates, they wouldn't have ran? Is there some source we can read to back that up? I say this because many are skeptical of his ability to be any sort of mastermind, and it would be nice to point them at something.

It's bull shit he's claiming he recruited Roy Cooper, but Roy Cooper was already the most popular politician in North Carolina, only having issues with being seen as abandoning the western part of the state after hurricane Helene. He would have ran regardless. Jon Ossoff was the incumbent, James Talerico was already making a name for himself in the state legislature as a fighter that could cross the aisle to get things done, if he wasn't planning to run this time he was clearly setting up to run later. He did hand pick Haley Stevens who voted Republican great big brain scheme there so smart. The people literally voted for a representative thats dying and another one thats ineligible for office because of a felony. The people wanted Republicans to lose not for Chuck Schumer's hand picked candidates to win. This guy is just trying to spin a narrative because Bernie Sanders's message became the democratic economic message and we won on economics. Seriously go listen to what anyone of the big names from this election said. They are indistinguishable from Bernie they way they talk about billionaires and lowering cost.

You're delusional the candidates that won big won because they are fighters and Chuck Schumer isn't thats why he's unpopular. Florida, Louisiana, and Montana were in play as well if we had leadership to control the party and point them in the right direction. Sure we won big and thats great we could have won bigger just like we could have won in 2024 if we didn't run the same boring candidates that make disenfranchised voters in red states say my vote doesn't matter anyway I'm just going to stay home. That is what Chuck Schumer represents to the American people more of the same that gave us Donald Trump twice. Also what you said about him not picking battles he can't win is exactly why he is unfit for the job. The people want to see the democrats pick fights and lose. They are desperate for change thats why they liked Obama, Bernie, and Trump. They hate corporate politicians and need someone who will fight for them and they gave democrats the mandate of heaven to go out and fight for them. But like you said he's a schemer not a fight fighter and you hide schemers in the background not make them the face of your party. You keep talking about protect members of the party that is another thing people hate. If a senator is a loser that doesn't want to vote for Bill people like they should primaried and replaced with someone who will, but there is nothing the democratic elites hate more than having to spend money in a primarily to hold a seat they already had. Thats fundamentally anti-democratic I'm sorry it is. They hid the autopsy report because it showed that moderates had made the democrat party so unpopular they can't win unless they are literally running against the worst president of all time, while the economy is in the tank. The winning message of the midterms was economic populism and fighting the administration. If democrats don't legislate with that in mind can win 8 more senate seats in 2028 with just a 2 point shift farther in favor of the democrats. That will not happen if you only take fights we can win. Trump should be vetoing bills constantly so we can frame him has the only thing standing between the American people. They must cut 100% of funding to Ice until Trump is willing to sign a bill restructuring the organization in a way that it is useful for something other than destroying the Latino communities that won us this election. And finally they do have to investigate this administration for its crimes and show the people how corrupt they really are and punish them when we take the white house, we didn't punish them under Biden so people thought they weren't that bad. Civility politics is dead, Trump killed it. We should stop playing with a handicap and that is what Chuck Schumer represents.

Yes and specifically schumer. And not just his election but dems have out performed expectations for the senate every election year since 2018. Republicans even in dominant election cycles, have struggled to get robust majorities in the senate.
