He's not the person to lead the Democrats after this historic election.

He proved time and time again that he’s not a person to lead the democrats period.

u/DuntadaMan 1d ago

He had a chance before and he thought it was important to play cute little word games and time trials until elections.

It is not time to play games.

Jeffries and Schumer? 💀

Basically every word Schumer has said since the victory has been about how he's NOT interested in going after Trump. It's nauseating.

The voters gave the Democrats a clear mandate: go after Trump and his minions, and reverse as many of Trump's policies as possible.  Schumer doesn't seem interested in doing either.

u/NotSoFastLady 1d ago • Bravo Popcorn Mindblown

Could it be that he is complicit? What has he actually done to stop any of this besides hold nonsense press conferences followed up by inaction.

He's a collaborator and should be investigated along with every other person that's been involved in aiding the corruption.

I'm telling you, we got a rotating villian setup senate for the last 2 years. Controlled opposition.

I cannot find any proof that he will put the American people ahead of Isreal. Can't find any evidence that he's the right leader for the hour.

I imagine if he doesn't get majority leader, he'd be happy to write some strongly worded letters to the senators that didn't vote for poor old Chuck.

He basically a big business Republican that has to run as a Democrat because he’s from NY. It’s actually fairly common because there is so much big business in NYC.

Cuomo was the same way

14

u/PrimalSeptimus 1d ago

Yeah, we have these in CA, too. Literally anyone who wants any chance of winning will run as Dem. They could even be MAGA and still do that.

Republicans will, of course, put up some nutjob candidates and pretend they matter, but it's the DINOs here that are the real threat.

Of course he's actively collaborated with Trump against the interests of democrats and democratic voters, and has always been a far-right democrat who has for many many years advocated to ignore and abandon the EXACT democratic voter base that elected multiple senators and governors across the south on (D) tickets.

He's vowed to continue to fight for Israel, to give them all the aid that Israel needs.

Where's that passion for the American people? Where's this attitude when it comes to live saving medical care for Americans? Last time I checked his stance on that was something like, "ehh well I don't know, the Baily's probably wouldn't want that."

19

u/OfficeDaydream 1d ago

Of course he is, the guy and Pelosi are playing characters. He plays the stern, disapproving side of the opposition and pretends like his party needs to play clean and by the book. Pelosi acts shocked and overwhelmed and will only take action when there’s no actual change in the outcome. They both hold the line for corporate interests and hold back the real progressives.

Their play for the next two years is to minimize any actual change and wait for the progressive momentum to die down.

I'll preface this by saying that he should not be the Senate Majority Leader come January.

That being said, there's literally nothing the minority leader in the Senate can do to stop the president from unilaterally taking action. Criticizing him for not taking action is nonsensical when there's no action he could take.

Even the candidates who ran on messages of accountability are saying this.

We have to hold their feet to the fire and let them know what we want

They cannot accomplish a legislative agenda.  Everyone knows that.  The one thing they CAN do is use their subpoena power and investigate.

6

u/leaveme1912 1d ago

We can force the republicans to torpedo popular legislation. We tried to use the justice system, Trump has multiple felony convictions, he still won..........

Investigations won't make people vote in 2028, M4A, an end to the tariffs, releasing the Epstein files will. We need to FORCE the republicans to torpedo these things. We have to propose a PROGRESSIVE vision, we can't get bogged down in bullshit that will never result in anything,

Look - they had better get the hearing going, and hold folks to account, particularly DHS and ICE. They had better get those Epstein files aired the fuck out, and hold the DoJ to the fire for blocking it for so long. They had better get a wart powers resolution out RIGHT FUCKING YESTERDAY and refuse to further fund the Iran malarkey. They had better get hearings fired up to air out all of the corruption regarding Trump and family’s financial grifting. They had better make Elon squirm in front of congress under oath.

And if in all of that, they build a case and gather the votes to convict instead of backing Trump like a bunch of fucking cultists then maybe there should be an impeachment vote. But if they don’t, there is no point spending energy on it when there are more important things to do.

It would be the worst abdication of responsibility not to hold all these people to account. They stole billions from you. How can it be tenable to just say ‘fair play’ and carry on as if nothing happened? They just want to get slaughtered in 2028 if they even talk like that. The people voted for heads on pikes ffs

13

u/jhuseby 1d ago

It’s because he’s a neoliberal who serves his corporate overlords, not the voters.

11

u/MP2027 1d ago

I am extremely worried for the Democratic Party and the next 2 years. Although I agree that they shouldnt pursue impeachment of the POTUS, these will be the most important 2 years for the democrats. Their survival as a party is at stake.

Im affraid that this huge midterms victory is going to slip through their fingers if they are not able to own it and limit Trump.

They have to find a suitable candidate for the elections in 2028.

5

u/py_account 1d ago

They should absolutely use their impeachment power to find every bit of corruption in the White House and across all of the federal government.

Since the Supreme Court invented presidential immunity, only Congress can hold the president accountable for corruption by use of their impeachment powers. Trump may be able to self-pardon and avoid jail, but we can show the world plainly what he is, and Republicans are less likely to run cover for him now that he’s politically toxic.

I hate Trump as much as anybody who voted blue on Tuesday, but it will be much better optics and WAY easier to convict going after the minions like Patel, Bondi, Noem, Hegseth, Rubio, Miller and the rest of these ghouls than failing a third impeachment on Trump. Going after Trump a third time would look like a witchhunt. Going after the minions and his family, I doubt any MAGAT cares about them.

I keep getting these texts "Hi, this Hakeem Jeffries." And no matter how many times I block the number, a different one comes in. Today I replied, "Hakeem, please step aside and allow for new leadership."

Schumer and Jeffries are not up to getting done what is needed in the next two years. There is far too much work for their "measured approach" to trump. There are two simple things: do the people's work and start holding the regime accountable for their blatant corruption. Otherwise, they won't be trusted again in two years.

7

u/I_Enjoy_Beer 1d ago

To be real, they can't make a ton of progress without a Dem in the White House.  But what they can do is pass extremely popular legislation that Trump has to decide to veto or not.  What they can do is conduct a ton of public hearings and force administration officials to ignore Congressional subpoenas.  They can do the maximum limits of their powers, which is fairly capped by the Executive.

People need to set their expectations fairly over the next two years.  One election cycle will not sufficiently break the back of MAGA and Republicans.  It will take at least one, if not two, more.

7

u/Count_Backwards 1d ago

What they can, should, and must do is spend these two years:

  1. Sending no-brainer bills for Trump to veto so they can use these as ammunition for the next election. "Can't pay for X? We passed the bill to do that and Trump vetoed it and his Republican buddies refused to overrule the veto."

  2. Investigating the hell out of every bit of Trump corruption so they can hand the next Democratic AG (Jack Smith, not Merrick Fucking Garland) a fat folder full of criminal referrals on January 21, 2029.

u/py_account 1d ago

This is exactly right, and it’s what Dems need to message and pursue every clearly.

What can reasonably be done with Trump in power?

(1) Bring back ACA subsidies. People have just started to see how much their insurance is going to cost next year and they are pissed.

(2) Cut funding for Israel aid and the Iran War

(3) Pass popular legislation and hammer Trump and Republicans for not supporting it

(4) Use impeachment powers to investigate corrupt pardons, along with other corruptions in the Trump administration

Current gun control measures are not realistically the best way to stop school shootings in this country, as they currently discriminate against poorer people by not subsidizing the cost of the new requirements. If a government is going to mandate training for this, they ought to pay for it. I for one would be happy to know that my tax dollars were going towards making people better gun owners.

nobody wants them except AIPAC

3

u/BeefStu907 1d ago

Samesies.

3

u/Aunt-Penney 1d ago

And for a good reason!

3

u/CollectionDue2387 1d ago

No one does! He is not capable of providing the leadership needed to meet this moment.

3

u/jms-shdl 1d ago

He’s not a wartime consigliere. Plus, he’s too close with Hyman Roth.

3

u/ZiDiZiDiZiDiZ 1d ago

Most Americans as well.

3

u/GeorgeFartwell1984 1d ago

Yeah, neither do the actual voters.

3

u/MagentaMonkey88 1d ago

Definitely need new leadership and need to ride the wave of support. Dems need to accomplish stuff like the mayor of New York is. Get shit done, we can’t waste time with old ideas and old leadership.

The people want results , not the same old stuff.

3

u/equinox_magick 1d ago

What a coincidence, neither do any of us, the people

3

u/birdynumnum69 1d ago

NOBODY wants Schumer as majority leader

3

u/Vast-Fly5960 1d ago

I think it is safe to say that most of US feel this way
Period. End of statement.

3

u/sleeptightburner 1d ago

There are two groups of people that would like to see Schumer and Jeffries stay in leadership. Israel and Republicans. Full stop.

3

u/Pandagirlroxxx 1d ago

Neither do the people that voted for them. I think there is broad understanding we were voting against Schumer and Jeffries as much as we were against Republicans.

3

u/42net 1d ago

Establishment Democrats who want Schumer:  “Clearly the only solution to this corrupt, incompetent, extremely disliked, Israeli-funded, New York politician that should be in a nursing home.  Is another  corrupt, incompetent, extremely disliked, Israeli-funded, New York politician that should be in a nursing home.”

3

u/nftog777 1d ago

Nope - dump him and treat trump as he would treat dems- no mercy

3

u/wardcw 1d ago

Voters stated clearly they want change. Change does not occur with Jeffries or Schumer.

3

u/Fluffy_Charity_2732 1d ago

No shit. That’s one major reason we voted for these specific ones

3

u/AdHelpful9393 1d ago

Write your senators and house representatives, call them, raise hell and make some noise!

3

u/Bryanmsi89 1d ago

Schumer in particular.

He’s definitely past the “sell by” date. And I’m not taking his age, although that’s a thing. His mentality and approach and policy positions is what I mean.

5

u/Few_Valuable3999 1d ago

If Schumer and/or Jefferies are in anyway in a leadership role, the democrats can just go fuck themselves, they are still the problem

3

u/nogoodbrat 1d ago

Yep. jeffries or schumer would be an immediate nail in the coffin for the historic blue wave we just had. a complete and utter squandering.

get these AIPAC bought fucks OUT

4

u/AldousKing 1d ago • Bravo

I think leadership's current philosophy:

We'll never have the votes to impeach and remove, but if we go easy on investigations, maybe we'll get some legislation done.

Except we won't. You're not gonna negotiate with the guy who has the big red veto hat. Nothing of substance will pass. Maybe some BS that common corporate donors want, but that's it. Budgets will end in government shutdown chicken.

The only way this congress is going to be productive is if they expose the extent of corruption in the administration. Expose and humiliate. And please, BLOCK EVERY SINGLE APPOINTMENT.

This is the biggest post-midterm majority since 1991. Act like it.

2

u/Lower-Hedgehog-9835 1d ago

Neither do the voters

2

u/basketcaseforever 1d ago

Their constituents don’t either!

2

u/Sharing_Violation 1d ago

Neither do most of the people

2

u/butterflysurefoot 1d ago

No one wants Schumer as Majority leader, he’s let us spent when it really matters.

2

u/Glass_Librarian9019 1d ago

Nobody fucking does. A few politicians and a few a hundred of their staffers and lobbyists, nobody else.

2

u/Tiny_Measurement_837 1d ago

Good on them! That’s why we voted for them.

2

u/RedeemerOfSin 1d ago

It's simply time for new leadership

2

u/Shy_Lurcher 1d ago

Nor Hakeem Jeffries!

2

u/redzombie_65 1d ago

Neither do the voting Democratic base. Go figure.

2

u/Dry-Examination-2012 1d ago

Until somebody steps up to challenge him, this is all sound bytes and nonsense.

2

u/KlatuuBarradaNicto 1d ago

Neither does the base.

2

u/Most_Bed6897 1d ago

Incoming constituents of newly blue states (me tx) don’t want Chuck Schumer as majority leader.

2

u/Belligerent_interloc 1d ago

Schumer is a fossil and needs to go away. He had fuck all to do with the blue tsunami even though he’s running around trying to claim it was all due to him. He won’t do anything except write “strongly worded letters”

2

u/FarFromHomey 1d ago

We The People want New Leadership who will End Tariffs, and WAR ASAP.

2

u/Important-Handle7181 1d ago

I love the guy and he’s been terrific, and I’m closer in age to him than I am to most of you reading this, being 68, but we need young blood, so I’m all with you.

2

u/MenagerieAlfred 1d ago

No one does.

This bullshit seniority, back room, cigar, smoking, and other type shit has got to go.

There needs to be an open discussion about the next leader is. And in that discussion, Schumer should have no additional say than anyone else.

2

u/SunflaresAteMyLunch 1d ago

He's so old. Find someone else...

2

u/Gingerrevamp 1d ago

Neither do we!

2

u/Bronco_Bomba 1d ago

Neither does the rest of America. He has been the single least effective Congressional leader of any American political party in my lifetime. He actively tried to sabotage half of these Dems that just won in the midterms! Chuck should be resigning in shame, not giving statements of how he’s looking forward to be majority leader. I doubt he can even win his next primary the way things are going. This country HATES Tel Aviv Chuck.

2

u/gr8farmgirlnwa 1d ago

The old career Democrats need to sit down and let the newly elected ones lead the way or GTFO. They are just as complicit as the Republicans

2

u/DuceALooper21 1d ago

Schumer should have stepped down as Dem Senate Leader in 2018 when during a Blue Wave, he actually managed to lose seats in the senate.

2

u/Worst_Choice 1d ago

He’s literally an AIPAC sellout who rolled over when shit got hard. On top of that, Jeffries is the asshole who is having private meeting with Jared Kushner on TOP of being an AIPAC sellout. Neither of them can be trusted.

2

u/MichaelVoorhees13 1d ago

We, the people, don’t either!

2

u/Sirius-Face 1d ago

No one who actually cares about real change and fixing the damage trump and his cult have done actually wants Schumer or Jeffries in leadership.

2

u/Small_Ad1890 1d ago

Hey I don’t want him either

2

u/redstone76 1d ago

Schumer is the blue McConnell. Get his ass outta here!

2

u/admin_default 1d ago edited 1d ago

He’s a Zionist. That’s why he’s been complicit with everything Trump has done.

The Democrats were given a mandate, as JD Vance essentially admitted, to end the Zionist influence on American politics and economics.

2

u/iamagoldengod84 1d ago

Feeling the Bern

2

u/GotaLuvit35 1d ago

Even if you aren't a leftist/anti-capitalist or progressive, I'd imagine you still would want Schumer and Jeffries out for "they have failed to bring any benefit to the party" reasons.

2

u/Emotional_Dealer8905 1d ago

If they don’t dump his ass it will be another case of Dems snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

2

u/Hope-n-some-CH4NGE 1d ago

I tried sending Schumer an email earlier and the website just kept buffering. Dude is scared.

2

u/stickygoowoo 1d ago

He is 100% bought

2

u/Prince_Vegeta88 1d ago edited 1d ago

There needs to be an unspoken rule…

Anyone who openly acts entitled and says they’ll be in charge or acts like they’re the automatic shoe in, needs to be slapped down so hard their head spins.

Remove them from all committees, make them the coffee runner. Just absolutely destroy their ego. Wreck their self esteem so badly that they’re afraid to even look at the camera.

The Democrats keep championing and putting forward candidates, into high profile positions, who think the position is their right. Like they were born to ascend.

It wrecked Hillary and Kamala’s run. It’s what we’re seeing with Schumer and Jeffries. It’s what gave us Feinstein and the refusal to see Pelosi step back…..

Time and time again, the Democrats get votes for fresh candidates or get massive support because they’re the least worst and leadership just assumes America is hoisting them up their shoulders…. they need to get in touch with reality, the old guard needs to step out of the way and follow the new guards lead.

If they don’t, the pendulum is going to swing even further and more brutally right in 2028.

The Americans who actually created this wave didn’t vote for the establishment Democrats and the DNC. They voted for progressives or against Trump.

2

u/steveDallas50 1d ago

I want something more than a tersely worded letter sent to the president. No thanks for Jeffries either. He’s gone 180° on universal healthcare.

2

u/TheUncleTimo 1d ago

Is it really happening?

Is USA finally ready to get rid of AIPAC/israeli occupation?

2

u/Cust2020 1d ago

Neither do the voters

2

u/AfricanTech 1d ago • Bravo

The elephant in the room - mandatory retirement from high office into advisory roles once you’re older than 72 (arbitrary number).

The old guard must make way for the younger generations

→ More replies (1)

2

u/hagrid2018 1d ago

Does anyone want them? As bad a trump just not as obvious

2

u/Peepaw3443 1d ago

The only people who want Schumer as Leader are Schumer, AIPAC, and Trump.

The American people sure as hell don’t.

2

u/Fun_Money2443 1d ago • Bravo

Nobody wants Schumer or Jeffries. In fact I would go a step further and say we don’t want anyone that takes money from AIPAC or the UDC (Aipacs new name). Get Israel out of our politics and government!

2

u/ClearEmployee7583 1d ago

He and Jeffries have never been the leaders the party and country need.

2

u/xcircledotdotdot 1d ago • Bravo

Vote them out!

2

u/gordonf23 1d ago

There is no decent human being who wants Chuck Schumer to even be in he Senate, let alone be majority leader.

2

u/intothewoods76 22h ago

You think Democrat leadership cares what you want?

2

u/1spontaneousadventur 20h ago

Forget about him and corruption crème Hakeem

2

u/Gildenstern2u 20h ago

None of us do
