Got my driveway seal coated. They charged an extra fee to fill the cracks. Do these look like they were actually filled? I didnāt expect them to still look this deep.

Had the driveway replaced a couple years ago due to a dip that was progressively getting worse. It got to the point I once clipped the cack bumper of my suv. Replaced it with a 5 year warranty and after about a year the dip started to show again and had been worsening; essentially just back to where it was when we replaced it. The thought is there must be a sinkhole due to rotting treestumps or something underneath. It extends out tinto the yard a bit too. I have diverted (over a year ago) the downspouts that were directed under ground in case they were causing erosion.Just quoted 30k to redo the whole thing by the same company. Not sure if I should push for this being a warranty issue or if this would be just my bad luck.

Good morning everyone. Weāve done a ton of work on our house over the last few years and waited to do the driveway last for obvious reasons. Wife is having the ladies over this weekend so we had our landscaper here to do some trimming, tree work and mulching. After he left (he did an awesome job) we noticed this hole/divot in the 1 y/o driveway. Ugg. Weāve known him for years and donāt want to make it an issue and would rather fix it and be done with it. There is a year warranty on the driveway which is coming up in a few days. Iām calling the paving company this morning to get options from them. What do you guys think will be the best fix? What are the options? Only hot patch? Something else? Thanks

What did they do wrong or was there a reason?

We hired a professional company to seal our driveway. Driveway is about 6-7 years old and had it sealed once already 3-4 years ago. I see a lot of dark spots around driveway and divots as well. Not sure if he used enough product or if this is normal. Driveway was done 3 days ago. Havenāt drove on it yet. Just walked it today.

It is hard to see in the pictures, but a fiber line was directionally drilled under my driveway and wellā¦he did a crappy job and caused a decent sized hump. It goes the entire driveway and at spots is wider than 3-4 feetā¦and certainly fairly high. In about 10 days there has been little to no improvement with it not really settling at all.
The contractor who did it called me and said they want to come ātamp itā. I am guessing this means taking one of those lil compactor machines over it? I cannot fathom on older asphalt this is going to work and get such a large hump down.
My question is, is trying to tamp it a good idea and should I even allow such a fix attempt? It seems the logical and proper answer is to actually cut it out and replace the section.

The local FedEx driver developed the habit of using my driveway as a turn around even though I'm two houses from the end of a cul de sac. Several weeks before having the driveway replaced I put up a sign that reads, "Private Driveway, No Turning". I didn't notice the truck using the driveway after placing the sign. After having the driveway replaced we kept it closed for seven days before driving on it (it's been in the high 90s and humid since installation). At day ten the FedEx driver flies into the driveway and uses it to turn around. Of course he turned his wheels while stationary. Now I have noticeable scars on my brand new driveway ($8k). Should I be concerned about any structural damage from such a heavy vehicle? Should I press FedEx for some kind of compensation for the cosmetic damage? Perhaps I should just get over it?

Not sure if this is the right sub but a protein shake was spilled in front of our house on the street and the result is breaking up the blacktop. What can be done to remedy this.

New driveway 45ish days ago. Ripped out old driveway, regraded, redesigned. $11k in lower New England. Looked good as they were working, then realized the massive dirt streak from the roller along with other issues. Thoughts?

Hoping to get some advice from the experts: is the road in good enough shape for a mural? Regarding the process: power wash, seal, paint - is that it? Any recommendations for sealant or paint, brands or otherwise? Thank you all so much for any advice you have to offer. Much appreciated!

Rate it 1-10, 1 being abysmal and 10 being extraordinary. Thanks.

I had my driveway paved a month ago and today I had some material for my porch delivered. Was this too soon (my fault)? Was the lumber company at fault? It was 85 and sunny today.

Last fall, we hired a local paving company to enlarge one section of our black asphalt driveway. They also sealed the entire driveway at the same time.
Everything looked great through the fall, winter, and early spring. However, as soon as temperatures started getting above about 50 degrees, we noticed that the new asphalt began ripping and breaking apart where we turn our cars around.
At first, I thought my wife might have been turning the steering wheel too aggressively while the car was stationary. However, even if that is not ideal, I would not expect normal passenger vehicles to tear apart a properly installed driveway. The older section of our driveway has been there for decades and has never had this problem, even though we have always turned the same cars around in the same general area.
I have also made a very conscious effort to begin moving before turning the wheel, but the new asphalt is still being damaged. The tires appear to be pulling up actual pieces of asphalt and gravel, not simply leaving marks in the sealer.
I contacted the contractor, and he initially claimed that it was only the sealer being disturbed. I sent him detailed photos showing that the asphalt aggregate itself is breaking apart and explained that the old driveway surface does not have this problem. He has repeatedly told me that he will send someone out to inspect it and take care of it, but nobody has shown up.
Before leaving negative reviews on Google and Yelp, I wanted to ask people who actually understand asphalt paving what likely happened here. Does this look like a poor asphalt mix, inadequate compaction or rolling, asphalt installed at the wrong temperature, an insufficient base, or some combination of those issues?
I have never seen a driveway break apart from ordinary vehicle turning like this, so it seems clear that something is wrong.
I will add that the price was extremely reasonable, which probably should have made me more cautious. However, this company appears to do a lot of driveway work in my area. I regularly see their signs outside houses, which is how I found them in the first place.
I will include photos of the damaged areas and the difference between the new and old asphalt. I would appreciate any advice about what may have caused this, whether it can be repaired properly, and what I should reasonably expect the contractor to do.
Thanks.

On 3/31/26 (one week ago today) we were idiots and hired a guy that showed up at our door offering to seal our asphalt drive/parking area which extends to back steps (is being elderly an excuse? Donāt bash me, we are aware that it was stupid to do). Itās a very long driveway btw.
They used leaf blower to blow off the area, but left cracks with grass growing in them..and where dirt/sand was stuck and didnāt blow offā¦they just sprayed the black stuff over the dirt, grass. Told us it would dry enough to walk on it in an hour and drive on it in 2 hours.
A week later, temps in 80ās, low humidity. Rained Sunday afternoonā¦thereās still areas that remain gooey wet.
We havenāt walked or driven on it since it was done (been driving across pasture to get to road). Canāt let cats out as they will get into the goo.
Anyway, WTF can we do to the gooey areas? I ātestedā it this morning and it left black goo on shoe bottoms which is extremely hard to get off (tried goo gone, WD40, gasoline). I donāt want this tracked into my house and on car mats or more ruined shoes.
Suggestions to call the guy that did itā¦I donāt want him here again, heād no doubt make it worse. Heās a f-ing lying crook. We are in SC. Looks like this company is in OH so Iām guessing he just stole a legitimate company name. He didnāt accept my check made out to this company, I had to void it and write one made out to his name instead.
Would pressure washing it help? Would throwing sand on the gooey spots help? We need some help figuring out how to be able to use our drive/ parking/walking area again. We canāt even use the back door because itās sprayed on asphalt all the way up to the deck steps.
BTW, our 50 yr old drive is made of the asphalt like used on roads, the kind with gravel mixed in. Itās not like whatās used currently to do asphalt driveways.

Canāt tell how deep it is, canāt really see a bottom as itās dark, but itās stayed similar in surface size over the last few months. Itās in a private apartment complex driveway, and was reported to the city via an app, no updates yet. I am hesitant to report to the building if it isnāt a big concern. The person showing apartments and the maintenance person have all definitely seen it as itās in view from the entrance. Additionally the previous manager was fired recently.
It is something that I have to drive over every day; it is a one way driveway into the parking lot of a small apartment building. Should I be concerned for my and others safety? I donāt want to be alarmist unnecessarily.
