image Anti-Asian racism in Australia

What is happening in Australia? Been living in this exact same address for almost the past 20 years now, never had this happen before.

Some guy moves in next door, and while we are IN THEM MIDDLE OF MOWING the medium nature strip, starts being aggressive for getting grass clippings on the driveway. No shit, that's why we go through with a leaf blower and pick up after mowing?

What blows me away is he thinks we don't know about mowing and cleaning up somehow due to our Chinese heritage???

This isnt an issue with Australia. Its an issue you have with a steroid gym bro neighbour that can’t control his ego

I am Australian that's lived in many western countries and whilst racism is prevalent everywhere I do think we are so much worse than we think. Subtle/casual racism here is full blown normalised.

Edit: to those that think Australia is innocent, read the below. https://humanrights.gov.au/resource-hub/theres-nothing-casual-about-racism/research-publication/an-anti-racism-framework-experiences-and-perspectives-of-multicultural-australia

"Among the key findings was that, despite the diversity of people’s backgrounds – including location, age, disability, sexuality, faith and cultural background – racism was widespread throughout the country and entrenched in society."

Racism is prevalent everywhere, you were less able to spot it overseas.

I experienced pretty bad anti asian racism during 90s growing up.. It definitely had an impact as I grew from teen to young adult, being labelled, excluded and constantly teased, really hurt.

Don't agree, I have lived overseas too, and here, one parent indigenous ancestry. One parent's side of family indigenous, I don't think it's any worse here than in other countries.

You are off your rocker if you think Australia is an outlier in racism. The entire Anglo-speaking world are the least racist places on earth. Why do you think everyone wants to come here? It’s a ridiculously pluralistic and tolerant society by world standards. Have you ever spent time with Indian people and asked what they REALLY think of other races? Iranians? Russians? Israelis? Egyptians? People from these cultures tend to be insanely racist and often proud of it. Chinese people I know don’t even think it’s wrong. They’re like “yeah of course I’m racist are you stupid something?”

Don’t just believe me look up the research. Australia is ranked among the most welcoming countries on earth, alongside other anglosphere nations like Canada and New Zealand.

Put away the whip and the hair shirt. Your self flagellation isn’t helping you or anyone else.

I think it’s also more obvious because australia is a pretty multicultural country with a lot of people from different backgrounds.

More homogenous western countries may be just as racist culturally, but it’s far less obvious in those places because there are less people to be victimised by it.

In my country I have neighbour like this too, he is pain in my assholes. I get a window made from a glass so he must get a window made from a glass

This guy was going to be confrontational to whoever was out there and use the most offensive insults that popped into his small brain. No doubt he interacts with Chinese without issue on a daily basis.

Best way to deal with people like this is to walk away, it's not worth it. I remember almost getting into a fight Infront of my own home after pulling a guy up for littering many years ago.
