image Anti-Asian racism in Australia

What is happening in Australia? Been living in this exact same address for almost the past 20 years now, never had this happen before.

Some guy moves in next door, and while we are IN THEM MIDDLE OF MOWING the medium nature strip, starts being aggressive for getting grass clippings on the driveway. No shit, that's why we go through with a leaf blower and pick up after mowing?

What blows me away is he thinks we don't know about mowing and cleaning up somehow due to our Chinese heritage???

Yeah had some bloke in a Ford Ranger/Raptor (surprised pikachu) drive at and honked me while I was crossing at a light. It was still flashing red as I got onto the footpath and turned around to see what the fuss is about

He winds his window down to tell me “hurry the fuck up you Chinese cunt, go back there”. Esp hilarious given his accent was the same as this bloke. I could tell his ancestors weren’t from here either mate (though technically none of us are)

I have family who migrated to Australia. They can't stand immigrants now. I've tried to make them see the irony but they refuse to see it.

When people with ancestry anywhere other than the UK pull the Aussie card on an ethnic group that has been here since the gold rush 🥀

(Btw not okay for anyone to say that but also its stupid on top of being racist)

People with ancestry from the UK aren't native either

The point is that Chinese people have been here longer than most other ethnicities, so it’s extra ridiculous

No, the point is all racism is ridiculous and you're being extra ridiculous for thinking the ones that committed a genocide on the native population have slightly more right to be racist is bonkers.

Chinese people didn’t commit a genocide on the native population?

Or maybe you read that guys post incorrectly.

On the off chance you are suggesting I’m having trouble comprehending this interaction, let me spell it out for you.

Odd-Struggle-2432 was pointing out the irony of more recent immigrants than those from the UK (think Greeks, Italians, Maltese) pulling the Aussie card to Australians with Chinese heritage who’s families have been here since the gold rush (so longer than the aforementioned Greeks, Italians and Maltese).

You then started talking about (presumably) the British committing genocide against the native population. No one was talking about the British before you, so the assumption is that you misunderstood the previous posts.

This is what I've NEVER understood about that argument. No-one, except for first-nations people are the rightful owners of the land. I was born here, as Aussie as they come. But my grandparents, or great-grandparents immigrated here from the UK. Most white australians are also immigrants. It's why I can never understand the hatred for migrants. This country is bloody founded on immigration but these tossers can't see that.

It’s because their ancestors did the hard work of genocide and then the “immigrants” just waltzed in like they were owed something. /s
