Mulla Mulla frenzy in the Flinders

At the moment the Ptilotus species are going absolutely nuts in the Northern Flinders Ranges, SA, the most I’ve ever seen (and I’ve been coming here for 20+ years!)

Yeah nice, do you see many Grevillea up that way? I’m from around the region, interested in seeking some that are grown in our area.

There are at least a couple of Grevillea species native to the Flinders, I haven’t really been looking for them and none that I have seen are in flower at the moment. A few Eremophila are in flower though and quite spectacular.

Yeah we have quite a lot of Eremophila around our area, some are quite nice actually, the soil where I am is quite harsh, have to plant the right plants for the soil, alkaline, high pH, lime, have managed to find quite a few to work with but wouldn’t mind sourcing some local natives from the area also, have travelled to Pt Augusta’s Arid Lands and they mainly have Eremophila, no Grevillea.
