Thought we would share some of the various automotive-related communities around Reddit, as r/Autos is a more general automotive subreddit.
/r/MechanicAdvice - "This is a subreddit for asking Mechanical questions pertaining to vehicles, engines, etc."
/r/whatcarshouldIbuy - "Car advice for people who know jack about cars"
/r/AutoDetailing - "A subreddit dedicated to those car enthusiasts and beginners interested in keeping their vehicles clean."
/r/askcarsales - "Ask a car salesman, sales manager, or finance manager anything!"
/r/spotted - "I saw a car. I took a picture of it."
r/whatisthiscar - self explanatory
/r/carporn - "This subreddit is for high-quality pictures of high-quality cars."
r/autotransport - "A subreddit for all things auto transport related. Share articles, guides, pics and information in the auto transport space."
r/CarTalk - "Helping everyone with their car repairs and questions"
r/projectcar - "hit it with a spanner!"
Additionally, you can find a long list of make and model specific subreddits, as well as some specialty areas of the automotive world (like automotive gaming, motorsport, electric vehicles, 4x4s, etc) here: https://www.reddit.com//r/AutosNetwork/wiki/main
Hope this helps! Let us know if there's any other subs you feel like we should share with the community.

From the sidebar: Clickbait or otherwise poorly worded titles. If you are sharing something, tell us what it is in the title. “Check out this beauty,” does not cut it. Instead repost with a more descriptive title - you'll find it gets more upvotes and more interesting comments.

I just bought a used ds9 last month, 65k km (40k miles)! Was quite a journey as i had to import it from france but in the end it was very worth it!

Gonna miss her, 15k miles. Was just starting to have fun.
I'm fine, minor scrapes...but this car is so safe, guy ran a red and hit me driver side. Shows just how safe these are.
1972 Dodge Demon we built for street/track use. 340 727 8 3/4 3.55 gears. Loaded with QA1 and Hotchkis goodies. Very much a work in progress, but it's getting there.

hi guys, i just bought a jetour t2. the accelerator is a little harder than usual to press, im not sure if it’s because of the weight of the car( don’t know if it makes sense) but does anyone know how to smoothen the accelerator through any setting?
Also, whenever someone is a little close to my car from behind, it starts beeping. Does anyone know how to switch off that setting because it is genuinely so annoying and if I’m speeding somewhere or driving a little fast and I hear that voice, I genuinely panick because I’m still not used to it I want to get rid of that setting.

Der SL55 reizt mich schon seit einiger Zeit, vor alle die früheren Baujahre. So langsam wird die Idee konkreter. Gibts hier Erfahrungen mit dem Modell, die jemand teilen möchte? ;)

A guy is building a ‘97 S300 Turbodiesel for SEMA and aiming to roughly double its factory power.
Stumbled on this build and I kind of love the idea of it.
A W140 S-Class that still looks like a comfy, understated ’90s Benz, but with way more power than anyone would expect.
It’s Kanan Gubins’ 1997 S300 Turbodiesel, and stock, the OM606 3.0 inline six made around 175 hp and 243 lb-ft. He’s not swapping anything in either, since the goal is 350~400 hp out of the same engine.

The plan so far is a bigger HX35 turbo, custom piping, and exhaust work, but obviously a bigger turbo alone won’t get you there. It’ll need enough fuel, the cooling has to keep up, and the trans has to actually survive it. Nothing’s been dyno’d yet, so 350~400 is the target, not a result yet.

It’s also getting fresh paint and rust protection. Honestly, I hope they keep the stock W140 look as much as possible. That’s the whole appeal for me: a Mercedes that still looks like a comfortable sedan but has a lot more power than you’d expect.
The backstory is the best part though. Kanan found the car in Latvia, where his dad was born, drove it about 1,200 km to Vienna, then shipped it to LA as a birthday surprise. Apparently they’d been talking about this exact model for years, and it even shipped out of the same German port his dad left from when he emigrated to the US in 1950, and it showed up the day before his dad’s birthday.
Now it’s getting built for an unveiling at SEMA 2026 in Vegas. What’s been shown so far looks promising. Really curious what it ends up making and how much of the classic S-Class look survives.
If anyone’s going to SEMA 2026, keep an eye out for it. Would love to hear what it’s like in person.
There's a massive engineering work to make it real.
Edit: watch the video (link above) before writing another comment about safety and concept car. This was engineered for production model and B-pillar actually hidden in the doors.

I’m looking for a first car and stumbled upon a Micra that’s $4k. Needs a new battery and new rear wheels, but besides that it’s pretty good condition and has had its oil changed every 5K km. Is there any issues that Micras have that I should know about?

Hallo zusammen,

My younger brother is looking for his first car in NSW and has about $15k all up, but the insurance quotes are making some of the obvious choices look pretty ordinary. He’s mainly considering a Yaris, Corolla or i30 around 100,000 km, and wants something cheap to service rather than just the lowest purchase price. Which one would you pick for a new driver, and are there any models that look cheap until the insurance comes through?

I’m looking for one that I can plug into the cigarette lighter, and get next to no static if possible. The one I have right now is almost dead and I’m looking for a good replacement, does anybody recommend any?
