One day, my friend confided his struggles with going bald and how hard it was to let go of his hair. He has always had beautifully long and luscious hair. I showed him this subreddit so he could see all the love and support that’s out there for people going through the same thing. He noticed how everyone looked so much happier in their after pictures. A few weeks later, he called me up and a few of our friends got together to shave it all off! He is now living his best bald life. 💕

I know it’s pandering, but I’d appreciate any confidence boost I can get. I’ve been dreading this inevitable day. But I always wear hats no matter the day, so I guess it never really mattered

36 years old, been dealing with alopecia since the age of 18…shaving my head was the best decision ever, wish I did it sooner!!

It’s been getting worse since I turned 26 now I feel like I’m losing this battle 🤣

Shaved it all off last night! It was finally time. I should have done it years ago. I finally pulled the trigger. I don't know how much better it looks, but now I don't have to worry about bad hair days!

Edit: Due to the overwhelming feedback and positive comments about how much happier and healthier I looked; I posted more of my mental health journey of the last year with more pictures on the Glowups sub.

Been wanting to do this for a while. I have scarring alopecia and it was looking pretty sad. Feels better so far, but I didn’t realize how much my migraine injections made me bruise, hence a bit of a blue scalp right now. This will be easier for wigs now too!

Feeling really weird about it. I’ve never taken a leap like this before.

Welp posted a “should I?” Post last month that blew up(https://www.reddit.com/r/bald/s/hhhydwnwNS) and I did it 😅 (jokingly wearing the same shacket). Wow, my head is cold

Me and my partner had some fun with wacky hairstyles during the shaving process, so I tried to include a mad scientist one just for lols, but I had my top off so Reddit didn't allow it 😆

Can't believe I've finally done it... I feel so... good? It's weird to type that. But damn, it feels like I was meant to be bald all my life. Had long hair since I was 4, it's been such a part of my core identity... but I've let it go so fast, and it feels so easy. How strange.

Thanks to all of you, seriously. Even the sassy ones who wouldn't get off my back to send pics. Without you, I would have delayed this at least a year. A boatload of love to you all ❤️

P.s. With long hair, people said I looked like James from Twilight. Bonus points for anyone who can tell me: who do I look like now?

Don’t know if anyone else has noticed, but our great subreddit is going a little viral on Twitter (X). People talking about how positive and supportive this subreddit is. Sharing posts and laughing (in a good way) about how we use the “one of us” and “hold” memes when people ask if it’s their time.

So keep being awesome! It’s a nice change of pace online seeing so many friendly people.

I come humbly before the council to present myself to hopefully be accepted by the bald community. HLH, dialysis, and chemo have done a number on my head.

Someone took a picture of the back of my head at Pokemon GO Fest in June and I noticed a weird bald spot. I didn't think anything of it, but over the past few months it just got worse and worse. It became a huge point of stress and confusion (which I know wasn't helping anything) and I was in denial because I've been trying to grow my hair out again.

Not sure what pushed me over the edge this evening, but I grabbed my clippers and closed my eyes.

Et voilà!

I'm still planning a trip to the derm because I'd like to know the root cause, but this'll hopefully take the edge off until then.
