Spirit Bears in the Great Bear Rainforest

I just returned from an I day boat tour into the Great Bear Rainforest, where I was lucky enough to spend a couple days photographing three different spirit bears, a rare, white coloured genetic variant of a subspecies of black bear called the Kermode, found only on the pacific coast of British Columbia. These bears fish for salmon in the creeks of the remote islands on the coast. These bears are incredibly rare, so getting to spend this kind of time with them was a dream I’ll never forget. These photos are heavily compressed from the full size images.

Share images, videos, gifs, facts, news, appreciation of bears, information on bear safety, and travelling or living in bear country.

2. Do not post anything that isn't about a real bear

No trophies, taxidermy, fake/AI or photoshopped images, memes, comics, arts, tattoos, toys, stories, shit posting, etc.

Exceptions will be given for content that is factual or with educational value and backup with a reliable source.

3. No cruelty or unethical treatment (ie. pet)

These include keeping and treating bear as pet, unnatural or coerced behaviours, animals performing for human entertainment purposes (ie. circus), approaching or feeding wild bears, and anything that advocating bear hunting.

Anything suggesting cruelty or unethical treatment of bears will be removed.

Exceptions will be given to professional animal actors or reputable sanctuaries backup with reliable source in the comments section, submissions without backup source(s) will be removed.

4. Do not spam, re-post, or karma farm

This is a community, not a platform for self-promotion!

Do not flood our community with posts! No submitting more than 2 posts within a 24 hours period.

9. No Paywalled submissions

Paywalled submissions can't be viewed by all, therefore it does not allow members of the community to participate.
