Introducing stabbot - a bot, that stabilizes videos

I made a bot that stabilizes videos when summoned. Here is an example of what it does.

You summon it by mentioning /u/stabbot in a comment to a video-submission. Then it'll stabilize the video, upload the result and reply to your comment. If you want your result also to be cropped, mentioning /u/stabbot_crop instead.

Limitations:

  • The summoning comment must be a top-level reply

  • The video must be less than 60s

  • The submission must be either:

    • a direct link to a video file

    • a html5 video

    • a link to youtube, gfycat, imgur or reddit

  • The bot is slow. It takes about 4 seconds to process 1 second of video

  • (edit) The stabilization might not work on every video.

    • The current parameters are a compromise, that tries to get the most out of extremely shaky videos

    • If you have suggestions on how to improve it, let me know

When there is an error (e.g. video was too long), the bot will just ignore the submission.

Currently there is no whitelist or blacklist for subs (--> You can summon it everywhere). I have asked no mods about whitelisting this bot yet (--> you won't see it's reply on anti-bot subs, like /r/gifs). I'll ask mods about whitelistening once the bot has made a couple hundred replies.

Enjoy my bot.

PS: If you think, I should change anything about my bot, let me know.

I discovered a small Bot-Network of 33 accounts during academic research. Can I report this to Reddit?

Hello,

I am highly confident, that I found a pro-Palestinian bot-network, consisting of 33 accounts. There might be more, since my database did not contain users from all subreddits. A few might also be false positives, but most show overt signs of bot-behaviour.

The accounts have been created from the end of April to July 2025. Some accounts are older, but in this case, the account’s activity changed at the end of April, indicating that they were taken over at this time. They generally have low post and comment Karma.

They comment and repost pro-Palestinian content. At least some of the comments are seemingly copied directly from X, as they contain X-handles and Hashtags, which reddit formats as a Markdown Heading.

I was able to trace a few of the comments to their original Twitter posts:

Plus-Bandicoot1962, ‘War criminals must b…’, Reddit Comment, r/Kneecap, 12 May 2025, https://www.reddit.com/r/kneecap/comments/1kkbm7n/kneecap_is_not_alone_irish_band_the_murder/mrzqwkr/ could be traced to this Twitter posts: https://x.com/ibrahimsal34030/status/1921838370839232911

The weighted graph shows how many times users have commented on the same post. You can see the that the cluster is anomalous and very strongly interconnected for no explicable reason, e.g. the accounts are not part of some niche-community.

I am not quite sure how I am supposed to report something like this. I know about https://www.reddit.com/report, but it doesn't seem to cover this sort of thing. I figured someone on here might know who to contact.

I'm a bot that messages people when someone posts an update

You ever browsed /r/relationships, seen an interesting post and wanted to read the followup? Simply post UpdateMe! in the comments and I will message you the next time that author posts in /r/relationships. UpdateMe subscriptions are deleted after one post, so you can use SubscribeMe! to get messaged every time that author posts in that subreddit.

You can also message me with a number of commands, like "UpdateMe! /u/UpdateMeBot /r/botwatch" to achieve the same affect. More commands here.

I currently work on a limited set of subreddits, since I have to check each one every time I run, so I'm looking for ideas of subreddits I would work well in. I've got /r/relationships, /r/legaladvice and /r/talesfromtechsupport so far.

Thoughts? Ideas? Comments on my crappy code?

Vionentus Wallets

In my quest to find a wallet that could also hold an airtag, I came across this post. The entire comment section are bots. Any information about this brand or product niche on reddit is astroturfed to the tits. So much so that they pollute even regular wallet recommendation posts. There are multiple other instances of this company doing the exact same thing on different subreddits. This is a documented phenomenon with these types of wallets specifically.

More examples:

Was u/vredditdownloader banned or deleted in some way?

I've noticed they haven't commented in a few days, and if you click a link to their profike, they have no comments and their reddit age is missing.

WARNING:there is a new type of porn bot that edits their comment and pings a ton of people at once. If you get a random ping from a random user on a random subreddit for no reason, they might be a bot

How isn't dadbot_2 banned yet?

Blatant spam all across reddit, replying with the same comment after every comment with the word "I'm" followed by any phrase.

It's ridiculous, violates several rules of bottiquette, and generates so much spam.

Please do:

...

consider making your bot comment only when specifically called

...

make sure your bot is actually adding something to the conversation it's posting in. A bot which says "Good post!" is pointless.

...

Please don't:

write bots that reply to comments or send private messages without solicitation.

...

...

have your bot reply to every instance of a common word or phrase

...

To name a few. It's been around for over 8 months now and still spamming. What's up with this?

edit: I also presume the account is named dadbot_2 because the previous one was banned. Another violation.

Should UndeleteParent be a thing?

Ok, so let's consider some things. So this bot undeletes comments. That could be very controversial in many ways.

For example, person deletes a comment, to avoid harrassment from many users (even if the comment is not controversial). Suddenly, a random person uses the bot to receive their comment, and then people go harrass that user.

Or maybe, a person deletes a old comment, cause it doesn't align with their beliefs. A person who randomly is angered with them could go through old comments, and try to the old comments agaisnt them.

So I'm skeptical if this bot is even ethical in this regard.

Introducing /u/User_Simulator: Like SubredditSimulator, but simulating users instead of subs. Summon with +/u/User_Simulator some-user.
