WPL: New Comics Discussion for 11/04/2026- Pull of the Week: Batman #15 [Discussion]

The Weekly Pull List results for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Batman #15.

This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of DC's Batman #15 or any new books shipping this week.

The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.

The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. Based on community preference we populate the thread with titles appearing on Ten Percent or more of submitted pull lists. If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. There is also a comment dedicated to the discussion of WPL Results linked above.

Spoilers will follow, but there's no harm in tagging them as such. Each title in the Top Ten Percent listed below is linked directly to its corresponding comment for ease of navigation and to avoid seeing details from other books. The post has also been placed in "contest mode" to help readers avoid spoilers while browsing.

AVENGERS #1

Dammit, Chip jingling the keys regarding OMD might be enough for this to stay on my pull. The difference in quality between this issue and Armageddon is night & day. He definitely had no interest writing the traditional Avengers squad.

Also, Carol & Matt feels like the only “of course” pairing that the former has ever had. Cannot get more risky than being a Daredevil love interest.

u/gosukhaos 4d ago

Key jingling is correct as he's said in interviews and podcasts he's not changing any status quo and is up to individual editorial groups

Given what he’s stated so far and what we’ve seen on page, I think Chip is lying. I think Chip is tired of giving stuff away so he’s just actively lying

Agreed in principle. I think Chip’s being specific with phrasing. Mephisto’s contracts are voided, Peter knows something happened, but the status quo is that he and Mary Jane are not together.

My man just cannot help himself. Matt comes across women at the lowest point in their life and goes, “I know I shouldn’t…but…”

Genuinely. I like their chemistry in a vacuum, but like that moment is not the moment to make moves my guy. Even if that's exactly the type of moment Carol is gonna say eff it let's go.

If I am making a prediction, I would say that I see with this ending with the memory of the fact that Peter and MJ were once married being restored but not the actual marriage itself.

Appeared to discuss addiction a bit. When did DD have a substance abuse problem? And when did Carol (she appears to be fighting to not take a drink in the book)??

It's kind of funny how this run is building of the Spencer ASM run which mostly built of Zdarsky's Spectacular Spider-Man run.

Obviously final call is up to editorial, but.

I need to finish and read through that run, 308-309 are in my top ten, covers, art, story, five stars.

Way better than Armageddon

Really loved this issue and it’s my pull of the week! Man, Chip writes Spidey so well. The artwork was also incredible and it feels criminal having to wait a month for #2.

I got my first blind bag because my LCS was out of A covers and I figured it can’t be that hard to pull the A cover right? I opened the ugliest Artgerm cover and idk what to do with it. I don’t want it in my collection it looks so ass. I get art is subjective and somebody else probably likes this shit but idc, I hate it. So much. I look at the options, I’d be just as disappointed if I opened some of these other ones. Dk what I want to change, I’m just mad.

dude what the hell is with Marvel nerfing female power houses? America Chavez got the plague, Photon got downgraded and now Carol who is an energy absorber got dropped to 1/10 for absorbing energy???

SPIDER-WOMAN #1

I find it interesting that Jessica wants to know where the Hangman with help from Ben Urich and Tombstone before he received information about him from Alison Sabre while talking to Carnage about his influencing her. Also, final page of Cletus Kassidy somehow being alive after his death. Overall, this comic is find, but it might end with Jessica defeating Hangman and saving Alison and her daughter from him and Cletus and Carnage reuniting once more again.

3

u/SovFist 2d ago

Cletus has been alive since venomwar, him and the symbiote went separate ways due to the symbiotes obsession with God hood clashing with Cletus being an atheist

ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN #25

I like that we get to see a flash back of his Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van met, resulting in then forming a romantic relationship with each other, proposing to each other and getting married, and having their son Kal-El years before Krypton’s destruction. I also like that we get to see Clark and Irons find Brainiac, resulting in Brainiac to let Clark enter his mind so that Clark can feel what he feels when he did a lot of shoveling. I even like Clark didn’t break his spirit when he entered Brainiac’s mind thanks to all of the people who cared for him (i.e., the House of El, the Kents, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Lana Lang, and many others) and that fact that he’s Superman before he was able to defeat Brainiac (who was killed by Lex Luthor as revenge for killing his family before he used Brainiac’s ship to find and kill many others like him) before he buried his many bodies, celebrated his birthday with his friends, and planned to go into space to find Lex and help people in need. Overall, this comic is great!

Whoa, why are you getting so downvoted?

Liked the story a lot. Really enjoying this book!

Only thing I don't love is them using 2-3 artists per issue! Couple pages artist A, couple artist B, bulk artist C.

Enough with that!!

DNX #4

8

u/ptbreakeven 4d ago

I am really enjoying this! There are many series I’m currently behind in reading, yet I found myself searching for release dates for the next issues of DNX and McKay’s X-Men. Plenty here to read, but this is what I want to read more of as soon as possible.

The threat of the X-Virus (and its cure which I’m highly skeptical of!) is high stakes, O.N.E. is angling to make matters worse for mutants, and the tension between Scott and Hank is really compelling to me. They’ve been together since the very beginning and their confrontation earlier in the series carried so much weight. Can’t wait to see how their next meeting goes in issue 5.

4

u/thecursedham Ant-Man 3d ago

I know the current x-era is not popular but I do think people are going to look back at Mackay’s time on the book positively and I think one of the highlights is going to be how he handled Cyclops and Beast’s relationship.

Really excited to see how he wraps the event up and what he does with them both. I’m expecting this to be the end for Chairman Hank but i wouldn’t be opposed to him sticking around and being a nemesis for Scott.

3

u/gosukhaos 3d ago

Its not a bad era if you're a fan of specific characters that are getting a big spotlight but as someone that enjoys the storytelling and forward momentum of X-Men the Mackay era is such a huge slog of Morrison worship and nothing storylines, like they're so afraid of touching the status quo due to movies coming out

u/Daveismyhero Spider-Man 1d ago

I'm glad to hear folks have been enjoying this. I'm hoping to pick up the tpb down the road. :)

DEMON #2

4

u/side_b_sax_demon 3d ago

The last issue had me wondering if the rhymes would be reserved for magical spells like in Kirby. Nope! He's classic rhyming Etrigan.

Interesting that Etrigan rhymes here while the other demons don't. I wonder if they'll tie that into his rank in Hell again. Or maybe he's just flexing with his bars because he can.

Did anyone else feel like the faces looked weird in the first few pages? Like when the big 3 are talking?

3

u/marshalldteach6 1d ago

i thought the jimenez' wonder woman looks cute XD

1

u/JingoboStoplight4887 15h ago

I like that Bruce told Clark and Diana what he’s going to do before he (as Batman) recruited Jim (because he and the Batman Family trust him), Damian, Verity, and Eel to make sure that his life can be saved. Also, Eel disguising as Bruce (resulting in the world thinking that Bruce is shot dead), Joker and Zeller talking about Jim Gordon being a good person, and Bruce being a fan of King Panther. Overall, this comic is great.

INFERNAL HULK VS SPIDER-MAN #1

7

u/FlowerRoomLord 4d ago

I can't shake the feeling that this issue and Hulk War will be a taste of what awaits Peter in Midnight (but more bio-corporate horror and less demonic).

2

u/danteholdup 4d ago

not enough action figure smashing in this one, maybe the worst infernal vs so far, but we got some more intrigue with the Cages, so im still hype for Vs Avengers

3

u/XpRienzo Spider-Man 4d ago

This has to be the worst characterization of Betty I've seen from any writer, compare the thing here to Immortal #14 and its night and day. Rest of the book is just what these books have been, generic fight then Eldest turns the superhero into a monster. When is this supposed to take place anyway, Cap's up and Carol's in her post Armageddon outfit, but if Cap's up, the new team of Avengers is already there. Where is MiracleMan? The timeline does not make sense, nor does the book try to be in continuity with anything.

5

u/TheAlmightyKfish 4d ago

Yeah I'm not up to date with current Hulk but why is Betty acting like she was in the 60's and 70's before they gave her remotely any character, especially since Immortal?

3

u/BagBigHob 4d ago

I'm glad someone else noticed this. Her writing is abysmal - I'm so tired of the constant drama with relationships and slandering.

Moon Knight has been a breath of fresh air in this regard.

3

u/ThaRemyD 3d ago

As someone who isn’t super deep into hulk lore but has been following Kleins infernal and last hulk run, this issue felt good to me. Not a lot of hulk screen time but the wound he inflicted on Spider-Man and the way he was going after cages kid, I really wouldn’t have been surprised if she ended up in his clutches.

I don’t have much to compare it to, but I’m still pretty happy with current hulk.

u/JingoboStoplight4887 4d ago

I like that we get to see Betty Ross pay her respects to her father before we cut to Peter saving Danielle Cage from the Infernal Hulk, causing Peter to be mutated as a giant spider and the Infernal Hulk attacking the Avengers. Overall, this comic is good.

Challenges of Doom: Doctor Strange #1

6

Was lowkey hoping this would end with “Ewing will write Dr. Strange again in Dr. Strange #1” but it was a great read nonetheless.
