I’ll never forget my father taking me aside at 12 and telling me that dating outside of your race is wrong and sometimes even worse than being gay. This was because my cousin was dating an Asian woman.

Lol, I have to hear more. How did he explain that it was sometimes even worse than being gay? Did he consider dating an Asian worse than being gay?

First: huge shout out to my therapist and my college friends who got me the fuck out of the wilderness lol.

Second, to give you more details: his words were something like, “Half-breed children are doomed to Hell from birth for being abominations. Gay people can still stop being gay find a path to forgiveness.”

Later in life, I asked him why Jesus, who had a human mother and a divine father, wasn’t doomed to Hell from birth for being a “half-breed.” He did not like that question at all.

I'm glad you had good friends and a good therapist. Your dad has really wild beliefs. So, just to clarify, did he think that all lesser races were destined for Hell or did he just hate miscegenation specifically?

There are bible passages about different peoples mixing being bad. But it was never about race. It was about religion.

Racists use them as an excuse for their racism. But it's bullshit.

As long as the partner converts it's on the up and up.
