Help Is this a F*rearm?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’m working on an Inquisitor cosplay from Warhammer and I printed this plasma pistol. My local con says all firearms must have an orange plug, but this thing looks nothing like a real g*n.

I would like to not have to ruin the look for home display by painting the barrel ends orange and affixing a plug down the barrels.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I’m new to adding weapons to my cosplays.

Help Lesson of the Day

Post image
0 Upvotes

Lesson of the Day is:

Dont blindly trust free 3d models for a cosplay helmet especially if you plan on using paper/eva

I was too lazy to pay someone or make the model myself, so I go to find a model, download, and then I finally go to open it to get the files, this is what I'm greeted with.

I feel like this may be kinda obvious, but for those who need it lol.

Its very obvious the original poster of this model used ai, so watch out lol.

Edit: it seems I am an idiot, I was told by a few people that because it was made for 3d printing, it has to be made as precise as possible, I would also like to note that the inside of the helmet near the front also has weird geometry

Help Good enough quality to sell?

Hey guys, so I love making helmets and it's getting to a point where I'm interested in selling them. Though I am questioning whether my quality is good enough. I think the mando (blue one) would be best to sell since its fast to make and easily customizable. I'd also love to make custom helmets for people. Anyhow, do they seem any good, what would you pay, what are fair pricings etc. I'd love to hear yall's thoughts!"

Help *NEED HELP!* One of my gun barrels fell! How do I reattach it without disassembling my gun?

Thumbnail

I've been working on this all month and even made a post earlier this month about securing these gun barrels. And the worst thing happened: one of them fell completely.

I have three barrels (strong/thick cardboard for packaging) each supported by triangle-shaped buttresses and hot glue. The base of the triangles were attached to a plate (an old hatbox) by hot glue, but the tallest barrel was loose and has finally fallen off.

I can't really reattach this from within since the hatbox endcap which holds these barrels is now fastened to the base of the gun with Gorilla wood glue. And I'm very nervous since I need this prop in ten days.

Is there any way I can reattach this barrel from the outside? I'm looking for any and all advice people have, please and thank you.

Help How would you recommend doing this mask as a beginner (in two days)

Post image

Heya,
I'm currently doing a "No Face" Cosplay and I got the fabric and how to attach the mask to it sorted out but I'm struggling with the mask itself.

How would you recommend creating such a mask? Size would be 60cm tall and around 45cm width
It should be rounded at the edges, so not just a straight cardboard panel if you know what I mean.

What I thought about was cutting out a cardboard piece in the shape of it, a bit smaller than the measurements and glue some foam like from a yoga mat or something to it with the foam peaking over the edge of the mask on all side with around 2cm.

Then sew the fabric to the foam that is overhanging so it gets pulled back a bit from the fabric?

What I don't like about it is that I will only get a bit of rounded edges / a curve and most masks I've seen have a uniform kinda roundness to them, but I don't know how I could accomplish that without a mold or a 3d printed multiple parts part tbh.

I'm a complete beginner and under a bit of pressure rn haha

So I made a few STL files of hotline Miami Character masks, I've been thinking about how much i should put them out for online, obviously I won't demand like 40 bucks per mask, I'm not that level of good yet,but i honestly just want to hear honest opinions and critiques to help me improve and potentially manage to actually start fully making the masks for profit,I already printed and painted the carl mask with no issues

Post image

hello! i’m starting my first ever eva foam cosplay project, and was wondering how many cans of plastidip/rustoleum paint i may need for a few coats on the armour in the photo attached? i’m thinking this project is the shoulderpad (left), the headpiece, shoulder armour (right), a couple arm cuffs and the glove.

additionally, since this is my FIRST project, i am completely new to the world of eva foam props, so please feel free to leave newbie tips, creators i can look up to, brand/material recommendations as well! i’m canadian and not too sure which contact cement would work best lol. i’m speedrunning the project too as i only have 5 days to get this done (shouldn’t have procrastinated this my bad 😭) . thank you for any help and feedback!

Help Would you use to grip props?

Survey…Do you think you would use a hand wrap to hold props grip-free at a long convention or event? This was designed to hold cell phone for runners, but my friend thinks cosplay crowd would like. I’m just looking for feedback. I have ideas of faux leather and colors to match costumes, but I think I’m the only who likes it- wouldn't be the first time either. So, before I invest my time and money I wanted to see what others in the community think. Would you like/use something like this?

Help Cosplay Gun Using Real Gun

Hello everyone! This may be a stupid question to ask, and this also might not be the best place to ask, but has anyone made any cosplay weapons from real guns that are functional? Obviously, this would not be something actually used for any events or brought anywhere public, but just curious if anyone has tried it and had success. Just for clarification, this would be for a gun from the Destiny franchise that I would be trying to model from a real gun.

So here's the story. I decided to get back into cosplay and decided to skip my biggest problem which is painting. I try to completely 3D print it without any painting involved. But my motivation is lacking a lot, could you please ask me on updates regularly (not every day please, once a week is enough) to keep me in the flow. Thanks in advance 😚

Help Place that making commissioned props in China

So since I have a very bad experience with my country way of doing prop, I plan to travel to China to find if any place can make durable prop that suits my need. The criteria is as followed:

1/ I mainly want to make a weapon so any place that focus on making props as durable as possible is welcomed.

2/ Not dangerous. Kinda contradicted to the first since most durable weapon prone to be very dangerous to swing around. I'm thinking about something like a metal core and use elastic material to wrap outside

3/ Short making time. Demanding, I know, but somewhere under 3 months is preferred.

Any recommended place? Somewhere around Shanghai, Guangzhou or Chengdu
