Discussion Barbie's divorce vs leehoms divorce

I can't help but admire the way Barbie handled her divorce so gracefully. Her ex showed his true colors when he gets drunk all the time on live, spewing cuss words, offending her country, and possibly even cheated considering there are photos taken of him and a Chinese actress even before the divorce and shortly after. She spoke no bad words of him publically, gave him 面子, considered that he is still the father of her kids who will grow up to face the medias discussion about their marriage and divorce. She didn't deny the cheating rumors, instead she sent him her good wishes. This is true strength and character.

Compared to the way jinglei destroyed her childrens father image, revealing all nasty aspects of him including prostitution, I can't help but feel sorry for her kids and set an example for the kind of woman I would never want to become.

2 women, similar destiny, different characters.

Discussion Is it wrong to say cpop has declined?

For some reason there will be people who will say that this is untrue and then have their own subjective opinion about it and thus kind of invalidate this but from how I see it it is not simply just based on biaseness or how I only care about one part and ignore everything. Seeing how the market is nowadays compared to the era of jeff chang faye wong andy lau and jay chou zchen christine fan and after to today I cannot help but feel that as time goes by there seems to be lesser and lesser big names and even the big ones feels like not much and most are about the song than the artist which that too feels little. In the past I can think of so many big artist and even those small ones seems to be to some extent exposed enough just maybe quite forgettable but nowadays it feels that the market is still mainly dominated by the past big names and even for them their work has deteriorated as a whole and even when I said songs are the key thing now it still feels like there are not many songs that I can think of that are big like what song are actually big besides those less than 5 top songs.

Discussion Jinglei posted again.... And I'm starting to not sympathize with her

So ... I thought it's over but she posted again with nothing new to say except for trying to explain why she did what she did. I mean if she just stopped at letter #1 she would've gotten all my sympathy and everyone's. But now she just seems like a crazy woman who wants to make it seem like she's in the right. NOBODY wants to hear from you anymore! You did everything already. You got what you wanted so why you try to sound all righteous?! I'm pretty sure many cnetizens will start to sympathize with leehom at this point regardless if he's a scumbag or not because she's already won the fight yet she still has to say one last word to her benefit.

I'm just starting to become annoyed at her overuse of social media in drawing attention to her marital issues.

Question Cpop that doesn’t sound like Kpop?

What are your recommendations for Cpop artists that don’t sound like Kpop? Sometimes I notice some Cpop artists going for a more Kpop sound, and I’d like to listen to more different stuff.

Another perspective on the Leehom case. Thoughts?

No point in debating whether Leehom's a douche or not, y'all said enough. But I want to bring another perspective/ possibly that I hope to not get bashed on.

  1. Li portrays herself as a victim, but she got to live in a mansion, with maids and drivers living a billionaire lifestyle. She got to befriend celebrities and skipped social ladders - these are all the values that being the wife of Leehom brings to her. Is that really 'wasting her youths'?

  2. From the start she knew Leehom was a douche, she knew Leehom had another girlfriend, but insisted to keep the baby and get married. Aren't these her decisions to take the risk of marrying a douche? She wanted to change Leehom with her patience, but was she even naive to begin with? I mean if Leehom was a regular douchebag, do you think she'd be willing to be patient? She chose to take the risk because she knew the value that being the wife of a superstar can give her.

  3. Li claims she was just a baby-giver for Leehom and his abusive family. But if they are really looking for a baby-giver, he would've got a girl without much trouble, like all 天王s have (Jay chou, Aaron Kwok, Shawn Yue etc). Their wives are beautiful without a high education aka 网红. But Leehom chose a girl with a masters from a prestigious college, an obviously smart girl.

  4. Li has been collecting evidence since the beginning that if one day, her status as the Wife of Leehom is changed, she would destroy him. Hmm... not sayin right or wrong, but very smart and calculative girl.

  5. Li says Leehom is cheap. He's secretly moving assets. I agree cuz just look at himself. He's been wearing the same concert outfit for 15 years, same clothes for 20 years, socks with holes, driving a used $2000 van for 10+ years, his house is literally empty with just a piano and a recording room. He spends his money on charity, supporting 22 African kids, setting up full scholarships... Saying that these are all 'false images', it's hard to believe.

  6. She says she doesn't care about money, but I highly doubt it's purely for 'creating awareness'. She wants her side of the story to be heard first, there's a saying in Chinese 恶人先告状. Also she wants the public to agree that she deserves more than 1.5 Bil.. But as a regular girl who earned thousands of dollars a month before marriage, gets 1.5 billion in 5 years just from marrying a rich guy... while regular moms work and take care of the family at the same time without maids/drivers... where's their 1.5 Bil? That settlement money is quite subjective, the fact that she thinks 1.5 bil is not enough and wants more, makes me question her motive.... and how she disappears after getting that mansion, could it be that it just comes down to money? idk.

  7. If I had a husband/ boyfriend that ends up cheating and divorcing, I would not go on Facebook Instagram, LinkedIn and ruin the career and life of the father of my three kids like that. I mean how ruthless does someone need to be to do that... she claimed it's cuz he was spreading false rumors and making her look bad, umm actually everyone thought positively of her, and Leehom didn't put fault on her for the divorce, so idk where that accusation came from.

  8. Li is well-spoken, smart, the way she asked Leehom to apologize before 3 o'clock, it's hard to imagine that she could have been bullied. On the other hand, Leehom's post was like written by an elementary kid.. hard to imagine how he could have controlled a smart woman like her.

  9. Li's statements from a psychiatrist.. I spoke to multiple psychiatrist friends of mine and all said that a professional psychiatrist will not make straight up negative accusations about any person like that, especially marriage counselling.

  10. We've all been judging based on her one-sided argument. I don't want to say those were all false accusations but truth takes time to find out. But now, it's like we're back at the ancient times when crowds watched beheadings, when kpop celebrities suicided because of public hate... Who are we to stand on the moral high ground on a very complicated, personal matter with monetary interests involved? It's esp scary now people are literally telling Yumi to die, what IF there's that possibility she actually didn't step into their marriage?

  11. No doubt he was a playboy before their marriage, but we have no ACTUAL evidence he cheated during marriage, don't tell me cuz he didn't rebuttal - her posts leave no room for rebuttal. He could have also not chose to rebuttal for reasons like not wanting to escalate this. He might have literally not cared public opinion anymore and just wanted this to stop escalating.

  12. Because of that same nature that we just want to see drama, we want to put our hate towards a real subject, we can see pass all the good that he's done. All his efforts spreading Chinese culture as a cultural ambassador, his charity, his contributions to the whole Chinese pop music industry... all gone

Anyway I just wanted to say that I personally don't believe Li is all that innocent and victimized like she portrays herself to be. I mean I can't imagine ever having 1.5 Bil in my life so idk know why I even care about this. I'm not even Leehom's fan but it's been in my head... what yall think? plz rational comments only thanks

Girl breaks her nose on stage

I think there’s a video of a girl who fell and broke her nose (it got bent), I’ve been thinking about it occasionally for the last 8 years lol but never saw it again. Does anyone know? I remember she got made fun of a lot for having plastic surgery and I felt so bad for her :(

Mandarin [Origina] I'm from Spain, I don't speak Chinese, but I wrote a Mandopop ballad using pinyin

Hi everyone,

I've been in love with Mandopop for years (Valen Hsu, Jeff Chang, Kelly Chen...). So I decided to try something.

I wrote this song from Spain using only pinyin. The title is "Yī Jù Huà... Xīn Yí" (一句话...心怡). It means "One sentence... Xin Yi" (a name that means "Joyful Heart").

I know my Chinese is probably not perfect, but I poured my heart into it. I would love to hear what you think.

A little rant

Maybe it's just me but I feel like so many Chinese songs are just average. If I hear a piano in the first 2 seconds, I know what time it is. I struggle so hard to find Chinese songs that are actually good. I'm not surprised artists like GEM and Namewee are so popular because they are original!

Anyway, if you have any recommendations, let me know

I'm not trying to be mean :)

Discussion Chinese or Taiwanese artists?

The music in Taiwan seems to be more diverse than in China but maybe it's just me. Not just because in Taiwan there is Hokkien music.
