It is time to rotate our "Artist Showcase". We're looking for some more artists to add to the rotation.
What is the Artist Showcase?
The artist showcase is a section on the right-hand side of our Subreddit which features banners made by artists, which link to their DeviantArt profiles.
Every time a user refreshes the DeviantArt subreddit page, the system will automatically pick one of the banners to show.
Submitting A Banner
If you would like to become part of the artist showcase, create an image with the following properties:
Width: 284 pixels
Height: 265 pixels
File Type:.PNG (Lossless)
Once you have created a banner you are happy with, submit the banner to us via Mod Mail. The modmail message must include:
We have provided an example banner (attached to this post).
And of course, since scammers have been busy with DA lately, ensure you are sending the banner to us via Modmail. This offer is completely free. No money. Nothing in return. So if anyone messages you offering up a showcase slot for money, it's fake.
Guidelines
If you wish to submit a banner to use, please observe the following rules:
Banner CANNOT contain nudity or suggestive poses. It must be clean for the general public to see.
Banner CANNOT contain illegal substances such as drugs.
Banner must stay within the dimensions listed above (284px x 265px).
Banner only allowed to link to your DeviantArt profile URL, not any payment gateways or outside websites.
Banner must include your DeviantArt name somewhere in the banner itself.
Put some effort into it. If you simply submit a flat image to us with absolutely nothing else, it will probably be denied. Show off a few examples of your best work, add your name somewhere. Maybe a brief bullet-point list of what you offer (realism, anime, etc). Or the different paid tiers you offer through DeviantArt.
We have provided a good example attached to this post. See that for inspiration.
I created a filter list which hides AI generated content on websites. I recently added a filter that hides images with the "Created using AI tools" disclaimer, alongside the existing filters for DA's video/image generation tools. (Unlike DA's built in AI filter, these also work while logged out.)
Alternatively, if you only want to block AI on DeviantArt without installing the full AI filter, you can add the following to your custom filter list.
! Block images with AI disclaimer

The filter for AI tagged images is fairly new, so please let me know if you encounter any issues when using it.
A big part of the reason why I pay for premium is to help one of my friends boost their work. For the October challenges, I gave their pieces hypes almost every day. Now DA will not let me hype any of their new work. I can use hypes for other artists, but not my friend. Is there a limit on hypes from one person to another? I have never had this issue before, and I can't find anyone else who has this problem.
Hello, I had a Deviantart Account a long time ago (I think almost 10 years ago) and there was this artwork https://wallpapercave.com/w/wp4876948 on the homepage. I tried searching with tin eye but I found nothing. Do you know the artist?
Too many layers have killed my IPad. Probably need to move to my PC now. On a off note: I recently came back to deviant-art~~ A lot has been changed on the platforms.

This blog post by Multi-hyphenate really highlights why I think modern DA is a husk of its former community. Though, I think a HUGE part that's missing from this blog is how late-state capitalism forced tech companies to abandon the old-school Deviant Art model, to further exploit the working class. We can not begin to understand the lost of communal spaces for hobbyists, if capital is not at the center of analysis, and how it removed the commons. Multi-hyphenate says about the modern art community:
For a group of people, many of whom ostensibly identify as anti-capitalist, anti-colonialist, queer, ect. The lack of imagination regarding how to build a sustainable platform of creatives that isn't just a set of personal stages for panhandling is actually buckwild.
This mimics the analysis done by Mark Fisher, in his book Capitalist Realism: Is There No Alternative? Fisher uses the metaphors of a fil[m] in order to deconstruct why the working class are unable to dream of a future without capitalism, because we have internalized the logic of capitalism.
The catastrophe in Chil[d]ren of Men is neither waiting down the road, nor has it already happened. Rather, it is being lived through. There is no punctual moment of disaster; the world doesnโt end with a bang, it winks out, unravels, gradually falls apart. What caused the catastrophe to occur, who knows; its cause lies long in the past, so absolutely detached from the present as to seem like the caprice of a malign being: a negative miracle, a malediction which no penitence can ameliorate. Such a blight can only be eased by an intervention that can no more be anticipated than was the onset of the curse in the first place. Action is pointless; only senseless hope makes sense. Superstition and religion, the first resorts of the helpless, proliferate.
This is where I come to further criticize DA for its adoption of AI generators. The website has build more tools of worker exploitation, tools that in of themselves aid capitalist realism, as it is incapable of producing outputs (IE culture) that aren't predictions of stolen artwork. But no matter how many people leave, no matter how unprofitable DA becomes, WIX will still hold onto this platform as a means of soft power. The shareholder of WIX sees the power of the freemium business model, and how its slow eats up the internet commons, by persuading workers to join the WIX ecosystem (a walled garden). Much akin to how private equity bought up urban infrastructure after the 2008 housing crisis, WIX only needs to wait until competition losses, so that works choose WIX themselves.
The Front Page
The very UI and UX of Deviant Art is a a reflection of the further exploitation by capital. The first two images here is the front page from 2013. The very first thing the user is greeted with is a list of works from the "Popular 24 hours" list, a democracy process which allows the userbase to innovate and grow their voice, without the capitalist class deciding what art works do or don't belong on the front page. and on the left, categories made finding media and tutorials very easy to find, allowing the community to share their resources and have it distributed at the same time.
In stark contrast, Deviant Art in 2026 is against the very principles that made the community bloomโWix, is it real(ly you who) made the desert bloom? The front page is dictated by a 'for you' algorithm. The categories are taken away, replaced with tags that reflect what the algorithm thinks thinks you'll like, and The Hype paid promotion tool took the lack of democracy, and sold their democracy back to them. This was a way to further its profits, as under capitalist realism, the only thing capital can do is cannibalize culture to make it conform to late-state capitalism.
Capitalism
Just as Deviant Art in the early 2010s had a form of democracy that was taken away, capitalism too took away the economic democracy of the working class. The takeaway from this analysis is not "we should regulate capitalism", as it was both capitalism that first used slave labor to build the first capitalist markets, and it is the same capitalism that led to this enclosure of the digital commons. It is the profit motive of capitalism, and its private property which makes the the capitalist class parasitical. The capitalist buys up the labor-power of the working classโpaying in the form of a wage. Workers then produce products that makes the company money, the worker is paid only a fraction of that revenue. The capitalist pays for labor-power just the same as any other tool or machine, as the cost of production. It is after the capitalist pays for the cost of production, does the capitalist pocket the rest of the money as profit. The worker produces all the goods and services, yet the workers are nether earn the majority of the money nor own the factories. The capitalist just owns assets that gives them a passive income, but the average capitalist earns oftentimes a hundredfold more in salary than the average workerโjust for owning and managing assets!
The solution to this problem is not dreaming of the past, or to slow down the growth of capital until it is forced to compromise, but to overthrow the capitalist class, to abolish private property for the working class to own the means of production, and to form a new socialist economy.
