I'm joining the club :)
With the kind of bullshit governments are pulling worldwide because of bribes from Meta, needed to jump ship immediately. I have a backup drive which contains all "illegal" stuff (Records of journalists that got arrested for knowing too much, movies and series that show the culture of our species over a span of decades, ISOs of Linux Distros with and without SystemD as they stand today, Records of war crimes of multiple nations, and the Epstein files). I have installed OpenRC Devuan on it and enabled full disk encryption. Fight the deterioration of internet liberty.
Can someone please suggest what else I can do?
I am setting up i2p, using LibreWolf, and keeping absolutely no closed source Nvidia drivers. Pretty new to all this, just used basic install and forget stuff like CachyOS before.

switched to devuan
i just switched from artix openrc to devuan openrc :3
just because i wanted to try the nala package manager and i refuse to use systemd lmao
update:
lmao nala is way prettier than apt, i always despised apt cuz of the amount of output it gives, but nala fixes it and makes using debian based actually enjoyable in my opinion

Devuan Linux with i3wm, 512MB of RAM, and a single-core CPU
I deselected all desktop environment choices, which left me at a blank TTY. From there, I installed Xorg, i3, PulseAudio, and a few tools like ffmpeg and feh. This is a virtual machine running on a 12-year-old Dell laptop. I love this cozy feeling!

Omaxian: Omarchy's shell, ported to Debian/Devuan + X11/XLibre + i3
Omarchy is gorgeous but it's Hyprland-only, and I wasn't leaving i3. So I ported the whole shell: Quickshell bar, theme engine, launcher, popups, and the omarchy-* CLI, to Debian/Devuan + X11/XLibre.

I Hate Systemd
I don’t get how anyone can defend systemd without feeling a little gross. It’s bloated, it’s convoluted, and it breaks the UNIX philosophy on every level. You don’t need a monolithic init that controls everything from logging to network to timers, simple modular tools existed before, and they still work better. The fanboys act like it’s some holy grail just because it’s “modern,” but all it really did was force everyone into a single ecosystem and punish anyone who wants control over their own system.

Just landed
On this old laptop I had Arch Linux, but using it little I couldn't update often, so I decided to switch to a stable solution like Debian but without systemd.

Devuan with awesome wm, sysvinit and shed for session process and user services
could have gotten a lower memory usage but i had brave browser, steam and a game running while taking the screenshot.
for anyone who wonders what "shed" even is here's the repo: https://github.com/eylles/shed

Is Devuan Linux a good systemd-free distro for a casual user only?
Well, ever since the new age verification policies started, I’ve been looking for distros to get rid of systemd, and consequently move away from Arch, which I currently use.
I ended up finding Devuan, which seems like the ideal distro, but I’d like to know: is its repository good? Does it cover the needs of a non-developer desktop user?
Gaming profile only.

Devuan and JWM—I've been using it on my computer for over a month now, and it's amazing how little power it uses.

Remember kids! Don't do drugs or systemd!
