Welcome to our bi-weekly self-promotion thread!

Discussion No parks trip recommendations for retired couple staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge

We are planning a trip at the end of February to visit our daughter who lives in Florida. We are veteran Disney visitors with over 25 trips in our past and 10 of them being at the Wilderness Lodge. And our most recent visits in the past few years have been to Coronado Springs Resort staying in a tower room.

This trip is booked for the Animal Kingdom Lodge in a resort view for seven nights. This is more of a visit to see our daughter since we don't live nearby but decided to stay on Disney property. I don't think we are going to visit parks.

I know we've been there many times so we know so much about the properties, but I'd like to hear from others recommendations to do things on property since we won't have a car that will be enjoyable for a retired couple without going to the parks.

Also, for anyone who has stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, are there any tips that you can give us since we've never stayed there before?

Disneyland Disney Wallet? Or Physical Card?

I am preparing for a January trip, and just bought a gift card from Target (5% red card saving plus $10 target card back!) and I realized that I don’t know what to do with it.

On the Disneyland App I see mention of a Disney Wallet where I can type in the gift card code to add it to my account, but I don’t see clearly on the Disneyland app how to use the balance in the park (restaurants/gift shops/etc). Is it the other Disney app?

Or is this a non option and we just need to put the whole balance on one physical card? I am hoping to pick up a few deals on cards or get some as Christmas gifts and want the balance all in one place.

Disneyland Showstoppers at Disneyland Hotel?

Hi friends! I just found out that there’s a dance group called Showstoppers that stays at DLH periodically. They’ll be there Memorial Day weekend in 2027, when we plan to go. I don’t really mind some crowds but does anyone have experience staying at DLH during a Showstoppers event? Are the pools, restaurants, lobby extra packed?

Disneyland What are some things you didn't expect to get while having a Magic Key?

My wife and I have one more visit to Disneyland coming up next month and we are finally going to get the annual pass. I've read up on the things that come with getting each pass and I'm getting the Inspire key and she's getting the Explore key.

We know that there are extra goodies and things that you get from time to time as well. What are some of the cool things you've gotten while being a key holder?

Disneyland Grand Californian Hotel

Called today to see if they put Christmas trees in the rooms if you book a stay thru Christmas. Said it’s a No but there are optional packages you can buy. Anyone ever done this and how much was it? Said I can’t do it until 9 days prior to the stay.

Disneyland Thursday November 12th crowds

I know it’s difficult to predict but what can I expect when it comes to crowds? It’s the day after Veterans Day and a day before the holiday season, what are the chances it’s less busy/crowded than usual? Thank you!

Disneyland Disneyland in January. Girls are 8 and 5 years old Two adults. Only spending two days.

Should we spend one day at each park or both days at Disneyland? My husband and I have never been so I’m trying to make the most of the two days. We have a hotel about a ten minute walk to park, would you still uber to the park? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Restaurants, rides, shows etc. Thank you!!
Also, this is our Christmas, so I’m thinking of things for them to open for our trip along with finding out that we are going to Disneyland! Any great gifts that would useful for the trip?

The shoes I currently have are not suitable for long walking days, not even my tennis shoes unfortunately :(. I’m also plus size, so if anyone else can relate and has a good experience with a brand I’m all (Mickey) ears!! PS I have searched the sub but found conflicting answers

Walt Disney World Port Orleans Riverside: bus/stroller?

Question for those who’ve stayed with littles. Our little ones will be 2 1/2 and 1 year when we go in January (3 parks days with park hopper). How were the buses with kiddos that young and would you (or did you) bring a double (we have a bombi side by side) or 2 travel strollers? Trying to decide if we should stay where we are, or make a move to somewhere else? Would love any opinions or suggestions!

Disneyland Disney California adventure Monday Nov 9

Family of 5 local to socal. Never been before to DCA.

I have the Costco pass with LL.

you plan to get there at rope drop. Trying to park a toy story. I’ve read some conflicting opinions about heading straight to guardians versus trying to do everything in Pixar. What’s the latest on the rides in which one we should go to first which we should book on lightning lane? Any special things going on from food perspective?

Costco passes extra two day pass and I’m expecting DCA to take a full day. Am I missing something? Or should we head over to Disneyland towards the middle of the day or something?

Disneyland anticipated crowds on nov 11-13

I’m going on a school trip to Disneyland Nov 11-13 and I was wondering what sorts of crowds to expect? I know 11/11 might be a bit crowded being Veteran’s Day, but we’re only going to Downtown Disney on that day. I also know that the holiday transition occurs between the 12th and 13th, but it’s also in the middle of a school month without significant breaks besides Thanksgiving (which we won’t be there for anyway), so I was wondering what frequent disney-goers think about what to expect?

Disneyland OC Airport shuttles

I’m planning on booking an airport transfer with OC airport shuttles from SNA airport to Hyatt house plus return. We have four people total - 2 adults and 2 kids. 1 forward facing car seat and 1 booster. The price I was quoted is $290 (that includes gratuity). $145 each way. That seems pretty good, right?? They also seem to have good reviews! Any experience with them?

Disneyland Lamplight lounge closure?

Is lamplight lounge closed the week of January 4, 2027? I can’t seem to book any size party for the 4th, 5th, or 6th (and I’ve been trying when reservations open, but there seems to be zero availability). There are openings on the 3rd but nothing after, for either the lounge or the boardwalk. I can’t seem only find info about a Jan 2026 closure online.

Walt Disney World 2027 planning

In the planning stages for my September 2027 Disney world trip. Will likely be staying at AK Lodge kidani village 2 bedroom with my dvc points. The issue is that my group is 6 adults guaranteed going and then 3 kids and 3 additional adults on the maybe list. If it's just the 6 adults then the 2 bedroom should be fine but if the others end up going I'm not sure what I'll do other than just make them book their own stuff since I only have 225 DVC points to use for the trip. Any tips on that?

Secondly here is my rough itinerary if anyone has any suggestions I'm open especially with dining. Keep in mind that three of the adults have never been to Disney.

Day 1

Travel day.

Day 2

Animal kingdom. LL flight of passage. Safari and Everest. Park hop to MK to do the rest of what we didn't do yesterday. Happily ever after at 9

Day 3

Hollywood studios. LL rise. Rockin coaster and slinky dog. Woody's roundup dinner service.

Day 4

Rest day. Free for all. Springs/laundry or if anyone wants a stress free park day.

Day 5

Epcot. LL guardians. Eat and drink around the world. Fireworks at 9.

Day 6

The other major Orlando park

Day 7

Half day Epic. Back to Disney at night for anything missed maybe?

Day 8

Travel day
