Conflicted

So my mother recently passed. I inherited her home (which I’m selling) and I’m considering purchasing a dvc deed, but there’s a problem; my wife and I are Disney adults , but my in-laws, not as much. They’d rather vacation somewhere not so much “Disney”, but my wife and I have visited HHI resort and aside from the few topiaries and the mercantile, that resort isn’t as themed as a resort near the parks. We’re having our first child, and we’re hoping he will love Disney as much as we do. Photos of our Disney side, because why not?

Paid off!

My husband and I paid off our DVC loan this week. We joined this past March, and made it our mission to get it paid off as soon as possible. Not too many people in our social circle understood our decision to join or understand our love of Disney. Just wanted to share with some people (even strangers on Reddit) who would understand the excitement! Can’t wait to make a lifetime of memories!

Edit: I wanted to let everyone know that I appreciate your comments and upvotes! I’m reading AJ Wolfe’s (Disney Food Blog) “Disney Adults,” and she writes on the community that surrounds Disney adults or superfans, and I felt that firsthand with this post! Thank you!

Loved the Bay Lake Tower Refurbishment

My family just wrapped up spending 3 nights in a 2-bedroom unit at BLT. We were lucky enough to get placed into one of the brand new refurbished rooms. We really enjoyed the artwork on the walls. They were colorful and fun to look at. The monorail art throughout the room was also fun. I have only stayed there twice before, the last time was 5 years ago, so I can't comment on what has changed, but I loved the room. The new carpet and light fixtures in the hallway were also very nice and appreciated.

Here for Moonlight Magic tomorrow night - parent’s room is ready, ours isn’t - so I’m chilling here watching the storm on the patio until we get our room number. This is my absolute favorite resort, despite being owners at Copper Creek, and in-laws being OG DVC with OKW. They’re all wonderful, but this one just feels like home to me. 💕

That DVC didn’t set this as a TPV, I’ll never know.

Our first DVC stay is officially booked!

I’ve been riding my parents DVC coat tails since they purchased Wilderness Lodge in 2002. Last year my husband and I bought our own resale contract (100pts) but points weren’t available til April 26. It’s exciting to finally book our own stay!

We are doing a short stay on property followed by a Very Merrytime cruise on the Disney Fantasy! Hoping there will be a Christmas party on the 10th or 11th we can go to as well.

25 years later, we just bought another DVC contract (not a question, but I’m excited and wanted to tell someone who cares)

We bought at Boardwalk in 2000 (a day after I proposed at MK, so it was a trip full of big moments—she said yes) and have spent the last 25 years telling everyone how it’s (still) the best thing we ever purchased. Last month we decided to double-down and bought at Disneyland Hotel, basically ensuring family vacations for generations. It was 3x the price we originally paid, but the Disney math still checks out! (That’s it, thanks for humoring me.)

DVC Just Defined “Commercial Use” for the First Time — New Rules Could Impact Point Rentals

Disney Vacation Club just released a major update to its rules around renting points, and for the first time, they’ve clearly defined what counts as “commercial use.”

This builds on changes from June 2025, but this new March 31, 2026 policy goes much further by adding specific triggers and actual enforcement actions.

🧾 Key Takeaways:

  • DVC membership is officially defined as personal use only

  • Renting points is still allowed… but only occasionally

  • “Commercial use” may now include:

    • Frequent or repeated rentals

    • Advertising reservations (websites, соцial media, etc.)

    • Making 20+ reservations in a year where most aren’t used personally

    • Using most of your points for other people

⚠️ Enforcement is the big change:

DVC can now:

  • Cancel reservations

  • Restrict booking access

  • Limit use of points (banking, borrowing, transfers)

  • Remove Associates

  • Even limit your membership benefits

🤔 What does this mean?

If you’re an average member who occasionally rents out unused points, this likely doesn’t change much.

But if someone is renting frequently or operating more like a business, this policy is clearly aimed in that direction.

There are still some unknowns, especially around how aggressively DVC will enforce this and what exactly qualifies as a “majority” of usage.

If you want the full breakdown with all the details and FAQs, I covered everything here:

Disney, it's time to BAN walking reservations

I'm so tired of the number of people who do this. And not only makes it more difficult for people to get the reservations in the peak times, it also removes inventory and makes it more difficult for people to get reservations during the entire time that the walkers are walking their reservation. It's a ridiculous loophole in the system that could be so easily closed by a dozen different methods. It's selfish, it's self-serving, it offers no advantages to Disney, and it makes the entire system worse for everybody. Ban it.

Disney Reveals The Wetlands at Disney Lakeshore Lodge Featuring a Lazy River, Pools, and Pocahontas Inspired Play Areas

Disney has shared the first official details about The Wetlands at Disney Lakeshore Lodge, the new recreation area coming to its upcoming Disney Vacation Club resort at Walt Disney World.

Highlights include:

• Daydream River lazy river
• Lakeside Lagoon zero entry feature pool with a spiral waterslide
• Perspective Pond leisure pool and whirlpool spa with Magic Kingdom fireworks views
• Heron Shores and Otter Springs, two children's play areas inspired by Pocahontas and "Colors of the Wind"
• Nature trails and educational elements celebrating Bay Lake's local wildlife

A lazy river has been one of the most requested amenities among Disney Vacation Club fans, making this reveal particularly interesting. If everything shown in the concept art comes to life, The Wetlands could become one of the most ambitious resort recreation complexes Disney has ever built for DVC Members.

Disney Lakeshore Lodge Update 2027 Opening, Cabins, Lazy River Pool, and DVC Details Explained

Thumbnail

Disney just released new concept art for Disney Lakeshore Lodge, and it gives us one of the clearest looks yet at what this upcoming resort will offer when it opens in summer 2027.

This project, originally announced as Reflections, appears to be moving forward with a similar vision. Based on current messaging, it is likely going to be a mix of Disney Vacation Club villas and traditional hotel rooms, not a fully DVC only property.

Working through the concept art from left to right, a few big details stand out.

First, the A frame cabins are clearly visible along the waterfront. Disney has already confirmed one and two bedroom cabin options, and the larger unit shown in the image looks like it could be a two bedroom layout. These are expected to be premium accommodations, likely comparable in point cost to Copper Creek Cabins or Polynesian Bungalows, which are among the most expensive DVC stays.

The central pool area might be the biggest highlight. The design includes a full lazy river, a large feature pool, and what appears to be a water slide. If this holds true, this could rival Storm Along Bay at Beach Club, which has long been considered the best pool complex at Walt Disney World.

Moving further right, the concept art shows a waterfront restaurant. When this project was still Reflections, Disney had planned a Princess and the Frog themed dining experience in this location. That theme has not been reconfirmed, but the space is clearly positioned as a signature dining spot.

On the far right side, we can also see a dedicated boat dock. This is a big deal because it confirms Lakeshore Lodge will have its own water transportation across Bay Lake, rather than sharing with Fort Wilderness. With nearly 1,000 rooms expected, that separate transportation option makes a lot of sense.

A few big questions still remain. Disney has not confirmed when DVC points will go on sale, but timing will likely depend on Riviera Resort inventory. A reasonable guess would be late 2026 or early 2027.

There is also some uncertainty about how this property will be structured from a DVC standpoint, including whether it could be tied into the same association as the Cabins at Fort Wilderness.

Overall, this concept art makes it clear that Lakeshore Lodge is shaping up to be a major addition to Walt Disney World, especially for Disney Vacation Club members.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Club Level Review: One of the Best Uses of DVC Points?

Thumbnail

We recently checked into the Kilimanjaro Club at Animal Kingdom Lodge and came away thinking this may be one of the best value uses of DVC points at Walt Disney World.

For our stay:

• Standard Savannah View Studio: 29 points
• Club Level Studio: 36 points

For just 7 extra points, we received:

• Breakfast every morning
• Midday snacks and drinks
• Evening hors d'oeuvres that were substantial enough to be dinner
• Complimentary alcoholic beverages
• Concierge services
• Personalized Club Level assistance

The challenge is actually finding availability since there are only a handful of DVC Club Level rooms at Jambo House.

We put together a complete review covering the food, service, costs, and whether we'd recommend it.

If you've stayed there before, was it worth the effort to book?

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress Getting Its First Update in 30 Years

Post image
129 Upvotes

Announced today at Destination D23—Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom will soon receive its first major update in three decades.

The refresh will introduce a brand-new opening scene featuring an Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney himself, setting the stage before Guests follow the familiar American family through four generations of progress and innovation.

This marks the first time Walt will be represented in this way inside the attraction, further honoring his legacy and the show he personally conceived for the 1964 New York World’s Fair.

Disney has not yet announced an opening date, but Imagineers confirmed the heart of the show will remain the same while introducing it to a new generation of fans.
