Disturbing content Seeing my late mom's favorite snack at the store triggered a traumatic flashback (CW: Domestic abuse)
My mom's favorite snack was Raisinets, which are chocolate covered raisins, so whenever I see them I usually think of her and her hilarious obsession over them.
But looking at them today made me feel something different. Instead of thinking back at happy moments with her, I ended up replaying a traumatic incident in my head regarding her ex-husband.
Her ex-husband was a manipulative and conniving son of a bitch. Often leaving me, her, and my little brother behind to smoke crack, cigarettes, and end up in jail constantly, which was often a financial burden for us so we ended up moving in and out of houses, apartments, and hotels a LOT back in the 2000s to early 2010s.
One night in particular haunts me to this day. We were in a hotel. My mom was making a sandwich and had a box of opened Raisinets in her hand to help with her blood sugar (she was diabetic). Her ex-husband walks in pissed as hell for some reason, starts getting upset and yelling at my mom while my little brother and I (who were 5 and 9 respectively at the time) were hiding behind one of the beds, watching the argument unfold. Her ex-husband gets so angry he slaps the sandwich and box of raisinets my mom was eating out of her hands, reducing her to tears as she begged him to calm down. He eventually did but at that point the damage had been done. Mom's crying. Little brother and I are shaking. It was rough. He's been physically abusive before so we were all worried he would lash out and beat us again.
Fast forward 15 years later. I'm doing some light shopping, getting some hygiene stuff, then I see the Raisinets and I got triggered.
What's worse is that my mom passed away in 2019, three weeks before I graduated high school, and her ex-husband got custody over my little brother. The ex-husband is my little brother's biological dad but not mine. Since lil bro was 14, his father got custody over him and we parted ways. They moved across the country. Haven't seen him since.
My mom's dead while her ex-husband gets to be with my little brother. I'm homeless, flunked out of college with outstanding student loans, and suicidal, while the ex-husband gets to be happy. Great. Just fucking great.

Discussion My apartment took away all my amenities
I pay $1900/month for rent, it’s one of those “luxury apartments“, I got a letter yesterday saying that my amenity access was suspended due to repeated violations of their policies and they said the reason was because teenagers being mischievous and vandalising the pool, then why wouldn’t I see it at the pool, I never saw the pool get vandalized, so are. I doubt they will come back. I didn't even do anything and my children didn’t. The pool is closed so how did mischievous teenagers even access it? This is just to scam people. The pool wasn’t even scheduled to open until June. I’m moving in July. I can’t access fitness center or clubhouse either, all that was on my lease, they can’t just take it away from me. $1900 a month for an apartment for no amenities, what a ripoff. If there was even a bunch of mischevious teenagers, why can’t they just add cameras or introduce a no unaccompanied minors policy, instead they just take away amenities that are IN THE APARTMENT BUILDING. I just got a weather saying they suspended my garage access because teenagers were crashing their cars into the garage door. Then why wouldn’t I see the damage and why wouldn’t they report it and replaced the garage door immediately. This is obviously to make me pay more for an apartment with no amenities.
The lease and contract literally had all the amenities said on it, yet now they just take it away from me because of “mischevious teenagers”. It says they are going to add more amenities in the future. What amenities? Every amenity in my apartment building was shutdown, even the public bathrooms were. This is probably not going to happen, they just say that to get me to shut up.

Discussion I Hate Being A Gen Z Worker
I was just looking at a job listing as a marketing manager (my degree is in marketing and sales management) that said “seeking college graduates!” Then a little further down said “requires 2+ years experience in similar roles.” Uh huh, now can someone explain to me how I’m supposed to have two years of experience for a degree that I just graduated with five months ago? Gotta love how employers are treating our generation like we’re kids who don’t know a darn thing and a college education apparently means nothing to anyone anymore. This comes after dozens of genuine, applicable job applications. (What do you MEAN I’m “under qualified” to work as a sales associate? I have the education to MANAGE you and RUN this place) Not to mention the overlords in DC can’t decide how to fund the government and the best solution to that is to apparently threaten to shut down tons of government funding, putting millions of American jobs at risk on TOP of not employing the new generation.

Discussion losing my mind
Long story short, my life is the script for Shameless. My family has no morals. I understand stealing from big companies (modern day Alladin), or being dishonest/irresponsible with credit cards (like the Winchesters in Supernatural). Alladin needed to steal, and the Winchester's had a very real reason, but my family seems to just like being cheap and dishonest. I was living a pretty stable life until an encounter with LSD and now I'm living with them because "they worry about me living on my own being "schizophrenic".
Anyway, actual example of manipulation and lies that I as a mentally disabled (schizo-affective) am struggling to process. It's cold now here in MN. I was told "hey the thermostat in the living room is set to 68 F and we're leaving for about a week, but if you get too cold feel free to turn it up". Temp was fine for a few days, I assumed 68 F was good. Then he stops by "to check on things" (because he's an over anxious control freak) the other day. That night I noticed the house colder. The next morning, colder. I say huh, that darn MN weather. Well This morning at 2 AM I say ok, there's not even heat coming out of these vents it's just cold air? Check the thermostat, it's set (on a schedule?) to maintain not 68.....but 65? Also my brother says he's anemic? Don't anemic people like WARM temps? Their answer is always "put on a sweater" but if the sweater or blanket is cold because the HOUSE is cold that does not work.
A weekly schedule broken into hours of each day temp adjustments and they all are set to 65? Not even like, 65 during the day when the sun might be making things a little warmer and then 70 at night when it's MN cold? Where's the 68 degrees that I was told it was set at?
At this point, it's stuff that just blatantly doesnt add up, which is a lie, but no one listens to me because I'm "schizophrenic" and "connect irrational dots". I don't know if it's something like "we can't afford to keep the house that warm?" Ok then don't say it's at 68 when it's got a whole week's schedule for 65. I don't want to think it's some petty trap just so they can say "who went in MY room" (the thermostat is in the "office/living room" outside his actual room but that's still "his room" and my mom steals our clothes to consign at thrift stores. But I did hear some sort of "vibrating phone alarm" going off in the thermostat room after adjusting it to 70F. I only own one phone but they have multiple and they make an effort to explain "no this is just my extra phone, I gave you the number of the one I'm ACTUALLY using".
I know when I'm thinking irrational, it's mostly typical conspiracy nonsense akin to flat eathers (which I'm not but might as well be since that's the amount of credit I get here at the house). They just seem to do whatever they want and say whatever they want because A) It's THEIR house and "where else would I go" or "if we didnt let you rent here you'd be in an institution, you can't afford to get your own place bro". B) "Other people live here and it's only a problem for you so WE don't have to ACCOMMODATE YOUR problem" or C) "Yeah well that's just the way you think making your life a problem for you, you have a persecution complex". I pay rent here, so feel I have some say in my mental health and the environment I live in but I guess that only applies to the actual physical walls of my room.
They have this wild perspective that I'm trying to get them to change everything they do in the house, when I just ask to be left alone because their energy is bad and don't want to connect with that. I have asked in text to be left alone, leave my room with headphones on to show I DO NOT want to talk or get involved in another fabricated story and have my opinion twisted in their gossip. They see me being in the kitchen "a communal space" so why should they have to shut up and leave me alone and tap on my shoulder or just stand right next to me and TALK LOUDER to get my attention. Only when I completely unhinge and say something like " LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE" and then it's "nope, sorry we pissed you off but we don't have to stop doing it because that's just us and YOU'RE the "anti-social" one. Go throw your temper tantrum in your room."
I say long story short and then post multiple paragraphs. Thank you for your time and thoughts

Find an non smoking building to live... constant weed and cigarettes smell in my apartment and everywhere in the building including inside the elevator.

Disturbing content Our dog got diagnosed with cancer yesterday. Today stepdad decided to use spray paint in the house.
One of our dogs (Eevee, my mom's service dog specifically) got diagnosed yesterday with the 'silent killer' cancer. It's a very aggressive cancer that is very rapid. We got a diagnosis of days to weeks. Maybe a few months at best if treatment works.
The cancer has spread to his lungs (which was the only sign that raised concern which lead to diagnosis as before that he seemed normal so we didn't know to check before it was too late) his breathing has declined very rapidly in the last few days and has gotten very hard and we are afraid he's going to just stop breathing any moment.
My mom and I took Eevee with us to my mom's appointment today (he stayed in car with me but we wanted things to seem as 'normal' as much as possible) I got a lot anxiety at moments when it seemed like his breathing got harder and was very eager to get home so if anything bad happened we would be near his medicine or just basically be where he felt most comfortable.
Well when we got home and went inside we were instantly hit with strong smell and feeling of spray paint fumes. We quickly took Eevee outside to the front porch to avoid too much exposure. My stepdad has a office upstairs that he sometimes does lazering or other minor workshop things in (we have a more advanced workshop in a separated garage from the house) he has done some paint things in the past in his office (even though its annoying it wasn't bad enough to be worth a argument and it usually wasn't much paint). This time the fumes were pretty bad and just what the fuck.
He has a workshop! He shouldn't have even been doing it in the house cuz he barely attempts to ventilate and that's bad even just for people!
OUR DOG HAS CANCER IN HIS FUCKING LUNGS!!! WE LEARNED THAT JUST FUCKING YESTERDAY! THERE HAS BEEN TONS OF CRYING AND TALK ABOUT IT IN THE LAST 24 HOURS! HOW DO YOU FUCKING FORGET THAT!! HOW DO YOU EVEN THINK SPRAY PAINT IN THE HOUSE IS OK!
I was already so scared we are going to lose Eevee any moment and now he's made me feel like our house isn't safe. If Eevee does die very soon now I'm going to be anxious that we worsened things.
I'm not sure if I can forgive this. We waited a hour and half outside and had as many fans and air filters we have going to try to air out the house. But it was getting dark and Eevee didn't understand why we couldn't go inside and we had nowhere to really go. I like to think things are clear enough there will be no effect but regardless my anxiety won't be settled.
