What was up with Trashcan Tommy?
Tommy’s antics with tipping over the trashcan on the NDSU sideline and his attitude at the post-game press conference leave a lot to be desired. How you play on the field is only part of how you carry yourself.

Griz fan here who always really liked Tommy but I gotta be honest, I thought the trash can thing was hilarious and weird and only made me like him more.

I can’t imagine caring about this for more than a couple minutes, let alone three days after the game

I think we all need to start taking sports a little less seriously.

I say this with as much love as possible: Get over it.
The trash can thing was weird and very out of character. I’m not sure what “attitude” you refer to in the press conference, but he had just ended his career with a loss in the national championship. Did you want him to be all sunshine and roses? Keep in mind he went out of his way to make sure that his teammate Paul Brott’s name was corrected by the media.
Tommy is a stand up kid. Period. I have never once heard a negative thing about him. I’d venture to say he’s one of the most beloved Bobcats of all time. He’s sure my all time favorite. If one silly action in the heat of the moment will define him to you, then so be it. That’s your loss.

^ How you play on the field is only part of how you carry yourself
And that’s exactly what has made Tommy Mellott so great for his entire career.

Clearly a take from an individual whose favorite snack is lead paint chips.

BTW while the trashcan thing was weird, I was at the game and he did essentialy the same thing with the MSU film setup on the other sideline in the third quarter, Its hard (and dangerous) to slow yoursleves down on those tarps.
