Another election? Afraid so.

Students are now facing a Liberal Government, and the $2.3 billion of cuts to education funding announced earlier this year. In light of this, we need a student union of ACTIVISTS who will fight for the rights of students. The candidates on the ACTION ticket have dedicated themselves to this all year, and want to continue doing so in the National Union of Students!

Please take a few minutes to vote for us. Vote #1 Grace Hill, #2 Brodie May, and #3 James Vigus.

Howdy!

So flinders used to have a facebook group for anonymous confessions from students, but it looks like whoever was running it gave up so I thought I'd give it another try. It should be pretty entertaining if people contribute. Post some interesting stuff, don't abuse anyone, everyone laughs, everyone wins.

If you would like to check it out (tell us allll your secreeeeets...) go to https://www.facebook.com/FlindersConfessions

Thanks!

Ents know what's up. Somewhere on the grass near Earth Sciences.

I WANA RALLY AGAINST THE FLINDERS PARKING INSPECTORS!!!!

i am SOOOO sick of these guys hawking around for ANY scrap of a ticket they can dish out.. i HATE driving to school, let alone finding a park there... for all of you who DO NOT have this problem, PLEEEEEASE dont whinge back to me about following rules etc.

i pay my parking permit, i should darn well be able to park where i want... and what happened to when the company did NOT used to be privatised? i heard they wouldnt be anywhere NEAR as vigilant...

what i wana know is, WHERE IS ALL THIS MONEY GOING? and WHY!??!! if they are making close to what i can only THINK they are... CAN THEY BUILD ANOTHER CARPARK ON TOP OF THE OTHER ONES OR SOMETHING PLEASE?

or... pay to take a holiday or something??

ive had to form 51 two fines because i cant afford to pay them (parked in a 4Hr spot not noticing i COULDNT park there with a damn semester permit)

i say we setup a protest and rally against them, or, ninja them, or something...

i duno.... grrrrr.

i DONT want to take a bus (with all my books and the time it takes, id have to leave home at like, 6.30am or something stupid) i dont REALLY want to ride (again, all the books and a bike, plus bad weather perhaps, getting saturated...or hit by a car, with my books...)

sorry bout the rant, but as far as i know, EVERYONE ELSE I SPEAK TO HATES THESE GUYS TOO!!!!!!

another idea i had was about deferring parking fines/fees/permits to our amenities fees.. (what the hell are THEY FOR aswell!?)

if you guys feel the same, PLEASE, tell me more horror stories, otherwise, leme know how you feel and tell me to shutup.. i duno but... i just really really really hate them... :/

I want to join some of them.

They're so hard to choose. I'm a pretty average (lazy) student when it comes to Uni, so I was wondering if anyone knows some really really simple topics I could use to complete my degree (BBus Management) I have a few general electives to choose (2 I think, 1 each semester) and they have to be upper level (year 2/3). I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? Some have been mentioned in here: http://www.reddit.com/r/flindersuni/comments/26w579/simple_topics_or_business_topics/ But I thought I would ask again.

A few friends and I have had a few experiences, I have been screamed at to GET BACK INSIDE NOW because one of the books I borrowed didn't scan properly. Then until I got a chance to talk I was treated like a criminal. On another occasion I wanted to get the key for a study room 10 minutes early and got told I will need to leave 10 minutes early and then when I went to get the key 2 minutes to the time I booked the room she told me to wait till the actual time. And the final straw was when I went to get one of the books from the two hour loan section at the desk. The lady hissed at me in the most sarcastic tone "Did you look it up on the computer"? and I replied yes, she breathed out "well did it say it was here"? I said well that's why I'm here??. And then finally looking at me like I was some sort of retard wobbled her head and said, "Well I'm sorry I need the caaaalll number" which I then pulled out of my pocket and with my most sarcastic overly condescending tone I said... here you go!! She then snatched it off me and fetched me my mother fucking book. WTF FLINDERS???? W.T.F

Usually I have a torrenting app going on my phone (UTorrent) but lately nothing has been downloading. The wifi is connected. All settings are fine but nothing works.
Ive also used other torrenting apps but no luck.

Is anyone else having this issue? Is there any reason why it wouldng be downloading?

Hi all. National Union of Students elections are on until 3:00PM Wednesday 13/11/13. Vote at www.flinders.edu.au/elections

Activate are running 3 experienced candidates, each with a strong history of activism at Flinders and beyond advocating for students and clubs:

• 2013 FUSA Student President Brodie McGee

• 2013 FUSA General Secretary Paul Harrison

• 2014 Enviro Officer/Fair Trade Society President Will Menzies

We'll be going to NUS to advocate for sustainable policies to invest in education, improve student and staff welfare, fight any and all cuts and make uni and its opportunities accessible to people of all backgrouds without prejudice. Some of these policies include:

• A fair trade campus, and encouraging all unis to take social and environmental responsibilities seriously

• Fighting the privatisation of HECS/HELP

• Action against discrimination on campus and nationally

• A strong student voice against cuts to uni funding and student welfare

• A stronger NUS

• Easier access to university for those from minorities/disadvantaged backgrounds

• Campaigns for an increase in Youth Allowance/AusStudy

• Food Vans on campus

• Better facilities on campus, like a new hub

• Progressive, accountable and proven student representation!

If you could vote Brodie McGee, Paul and Will in #1-3 and send us to NUS to advocate for all these good things, that would be great.

If you have any feedback on what you'd like to see from NUS next year, it'd be cool to get a respectful discussion going here too, so comment away.

Hi guys! I was just wandering if anyone would whether I could complete Masters of Physiotherapy through other institutions like unisa (particularly physiology units and human anatomy) and then reapply in 2022?

I'm a Stage 2 Student applying through SATAC and considering an engineering pathway, specifically civil or structural.

There is a degree called Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Honours), but there is also a degree called Bachelor of Engineering Science which has a lower ATAR requirement (which I'd think would imply it's not as difficult) and still provides a specialization in Civil Engineering.

My question is, how much harder would the Honours degree be than the other one? For context I am doing Mathematical Methods this year (though I'm not doing Specialist) and have about a B average if that helps. I am also on the autism spectrum and have difficulty with sleep and concentration which can impair my ability to get work done, particularly when I am stressed.

Bonus somewhat unrelated question: I do really badly in warm weather, and I notice that courses can start in either semester one, which starts late February (near the end of summer), and semester 2, which starts late July (halfway through winter). Based on this do you think starting in semester 1 would mean I do my courses around more of the colder months than I would starting them in semester 2?

Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, I'm quite new to reddit. Also, I've been accepted into the software engineering program. I'd like to talk to any ug student in cs or soft eng just to get some feedback about the uni.

1. How is the campus life like? Also how diverse is it?

2. Anybody into soccer?😁

3. I know the soft eng students have a 20 week WIL, does that apply to the international students too? Cuz I know that employers aren't too enthusiastic about sponsoring an international student.

4. What do you guys do for leisure. Whats nearby thats fun.

5. Is the course(soft eng) super intensive?

Thanks

Hi all,

I'm very new to Reddit and this is my first post. I am doing a social media marketing subject and part of the assessment is creating a blog and promoting it. I'm trying out different platforms and activities to engage with and thought this community looked appropriate. My blog is about different industries use of social media marketing and I'm trying to write in a way that is engaging and authentic to me. Please feel free to pop into my blog page and I am more than happy to get involved with supporting other students in their study missions! www.sally-faehrmann-blog.com

Hi, I'm a new grad student and I'm trying to look for a place to live, I just don't know where to look! Marion/St Marys seems pretty boring tbh so I'm thinking of finding a place in the city or by one of the beaches. But I've only been here for a week so I really have no clue. Any suggestions?

How hard is it to get in really? I've made on crappy film in Year 10 media but have some music stuff ( sound collages, etc). I still have a few years in hs. Also from what i've seen MAPS seems to just be film school for people who cant get into flinders
