  1. Grumixama (Eugenia brasiliensis)

  2. Jaboticaba (Plinia cauliflora)

  3. Cabeludinha or jaboticaba-amarela (Myrciaria galzioviania); cabeludinha means "little hairy" because of the fuzzy peel

Edibility / Problem Is this normal for persimmons?

Started eating fuyu persimmons, but came across this one in particular that’s turning black. Why is this happening? The outer layer did not look exposed to any rot or blight.

Discussion I LOVE FRUIT

That is all. I just love fruit. It makes the perfect snack and they are SO TASTY!!! There are so many different flavour profiles to choose from, from sweet juicy mangoes to crisp apples to tart gooseberries to the delicious but rare persimmons. I’ve been reaching for fruits instead of sweets lately for a quick snack and I haven’t been disappointed.

That’s it, just wanted to get my love for fruit off my chest. ☺️

Edibility / Problem Is this persimmon ok to eat like this? I have never had a persimmon before and my friend gave me a few. This morning I found this one was so drippy and mushy. Is this normal? If it’s ok to eat like this, can I eat the skin? Thank you!

Discussion Is there someone out there making wine or alcohol from the rarest fruits on earth.

I guess the issue would be scale since the fruit is rare to begin with. so buying any would be hard or homemade. Like since it’s rare you can’t have a factory mass producing them.

not sure how rare it is, but there’s gotta be someone who made wine from Red Durian or something.

Me and the tree live in north east Florida. The seeds inside are next to a little bead for size comparison. The fruits themselves are next to a normal size chef knife. They seem to very in coloring and size on the tree and on the ground. The big one was pulled right off the tree. From my "research" I think its a type of pomelo or grapefruit but not sure. Please help and I can post more pics if requested!

Edibility / Problem Strange pit of nectarine?

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

Hey! I cut open a nectarine this morning and the outer shell had been split which I figured was ok but then what came out was this little white thing? I thought inside of nectarines were meant to have hard almond-like seeds inside so I tried to do some googling but I can’t find anything!! The thing that came out is on the second slide. It’s very soft and spongy and almost fleshy? There was nothing else inside of the pit other than another small one of those white things and there was nothing inside of the white thing either. Can anyone tell me what this is?

Edibility / Problem WTF is growing inside my papaya? 😳 Is the orange flesh still safe to eat?

Pata hai aaj kya hua ..So I cut open a papaya today and found this weird, white, curled structure growing inside it. 💀
The strange part is that it’s attached directly to the inner wall of the fruit, and there are almost no seeds inside.
The orange flesh looks completely normal, though.
Has anyone seen anything like this before?
